View 11 RepliesMy ock is on auto-hide and when it hides, it leaves a few pixels. Some times there are a lot of them, sometimes there are only a few. See attached picture. I don't know what's causing them, but it's bugging me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo after waiting 4 weeks my High-res Glossy MBP FINALLY arrived...I was so happy. Got home switched it on and WOW it really is a beautiful machine...After using it for about 30 mins however i noticed a small dot to the lower right half of the screen... I looked closer and realized it was either a dead or stuck pixel( I dont exactly know the difference). I did a few test on it, and its ONLY visible when a light color is on the screen (White, Gray etc) However when the screen is DARK blue, Dark green or black it cant be seen at all...
It kind of looks like a TINY speck of water or liquid the size of 1 pixel stuck under the glass... I noticed that it does get lighter and darker when i adjust the brightness of the screen. Can anybody give me some tips? Anything i can do to fix it? Is it in fact a dead or a stuck pixel? I tried the JSscreen fix which is basically a online tool that opens up a flashing screen...Ive had it on for about 30 mins...but no luck
I have a few stuck pixels on my screen which i know is inevitable, but I've heard these can be fixed with flashing programs. I came across this and was wondering if anyone has had any success or has any insight on this.

I bought an 21.5" iMac a while back, and today I noticed it has 3 dead or stuck pixels, I know there is a difference between the two but either way I cannot get it to come back to life.. and basically I'm a bit pissed now =/.. I would go to the apple store but the problem is there is not one here locally.. However there is a Apple guy at my local Futureshop.. could he handle this type of thing? (I didn't buy it at futureshop btw).. I want a replacement if its possible, switched from a PC and payed quite a bit more for this lower end iMac.. I basically downgraded, and I can't stand that it has 3 dead/stuck pixels..
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst off, I have a 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 1GB of memory. I just upgraded to Snow Leopard from Tiger. I was able to complete the upgrade with relative ease, but my screen now has a complete vertical line of dead pixels running down the right side of my screen. I don't understand how installing Snow Leopard would cause dead pixels!?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just confirmed it myself. I had a myriad of colorful "blobs" all over my iSight. I only noticed them really when I put my hand over the iSight so the image was BLACK. But, like the patch notes said, this update fixes them! They are ALL GONE. So for people complaining about stuck/dead pixels etc with your iSight, update to 10.6.3! I'm guessing the update maps them out, somehow. Very cool stuff.

Until today, the area looked just like blurry pixels (some things like graphics would still appear, so I don't believe the problem is with the pixels themselves). Now the area has become a gray bar of pixels.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got two iMacs in my posession currently from getting replacement machines. Both have screen issues as follows: iMac A - dead & stuck pixels, feint grey horizontal bar running along bottom portion of screen, bottom left corner has noticeable backlight bleed. iMac B - dead & stuck pixels, yellow tinge in bottom portion of screen. So here are my questions. Which iMac should I keep and submit for repair? (does it matter and why or why not?) How does the actual repair get done? For example, if I submit iMac B for repair, could I end up with a grey bar or backlight prob like in iMac A?
Are there multiple layers to the display when they fix specific issues? For example, let's say the dead pixels are on one layer while the yellow tinge is on a different layer, or are both issues on the same layer? I ask because if there are two or more separate layers, there is more of a chance to mess up so I may want to submit the iMac that has the least amount of issues.
Lastly and most importantly, has anyone submitted their iMac for screen repair for these issues and got it back 100% repaired? (no dead/stuck pixels, yellowing, grey bar, backlght bleed) These are #4 and #5 in terms of the number of replacements I've gotten now and I'm sick of it so I may opt to go for repair on either of these existing machines instead of going for replacement #6. But do you think a 6th replacement would be better than going for repair on either of these? Or not?
the screen has about 6 stuck pixels! 2 are big and the others are quite small. The notebook is covered under AppleCare until 2011. So if i take it to the Apple reseller near me, will they repair it???(they helped me out with my Mac mini before)

View 16 Replies View Relatedif any of you have any stuck or dead pixels on your machines? I have a blue one and it's sh*tting me up the wall. I tried everything, the website that just flashses all the different colours, the damp cloth and then tapping it trick... turning it of and on and applying pressure, all of them to no avail. Anyone else have any pixel issues? Also when looking at my MBA from the side when the screen is closed there is quite a big gap between the keyboard (bottom half) and screen (top half) it's closed and tight towards the thin end, but towards the bigger end the gap gets quite large, about 4-5mm...should i put a book on it or something to try and flatten it out?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Pro 1,1. Tonight the display starting looking like the screen shot attached. Then it wouldn't come up at all. Black screen, with a few bands of green pixels.
My first thought is that the Graphics Card is going bad. Odd thing is, though, that I captured this via screen capture from another Mac. Could it still be a bad GPU if it looks this way remotely? I'm not sure how these early Mac Pros work. I have Mac minis that, when the display is off (or headless), the GPU is not used to render the GUI via screen sharing. So, I tried disconnecting the display from the Mac Pro, and I get the same screen shot.
I can boot the Mac Pro into Safe Mode, but that is it.

Over the last week, my 7 year old Powerbook G4 began showing faint pixels in the background which is more obvious if you are scrolling over menus also when a menu is highlighted. Unfortunately this seems to be affecting DVD playback because it will show blinking green vertical lines inside Front Row. This image within OS X 10.5.8 will show what I mean: [URL]. This is a MacBook Pro pre-unibody The graphic card is an ATI Radeon X1600 I ran the TechTool Deluxe tool to test the video RAM (and everything else), but it didn't detect anything wrong I have never seen this when the laptop is connected to an external monitor This doesn't happen that often; say 1 times out of 10, usually after the laptop comes out from sleep. The issue stays for a few minutes and then goes away until next time, so I am unlikely to have the problem when I go to Apple Store for service.
So I have this collection of pixels near the bottom of my screen but they're only visible over a dark grey area, like when you're in the login screen (I have an early 2013 MBPr 15 btw)
It's probably a problem with the screen itself and not the GPU (or maybe the connection between them?) since if I take a screenshot it's not visible and I've connected it to an external monitor and it doesn't have it.

I've had this for a few weeks now and I've tried those youtube videos (I just to have some image retention after leaving something to run for a long time) which have decreased the amount of pixels. They all dissapeared for a few hours and now they're back.
I'm on my third LED Cinema Display (for various issues) but I've noticed all of them have DOZENS of very tiny specs of color that are only apparent on a black screen. Furthermore, they seem smaller than an actual pixel (have to be up very close) and they are only apparent at certain angles (and even sometime change color) as opposed to dead/stuck pixels. These always pass my initial dead pixel check over a full black or white screen but I find them once I get in real close.
View 2 Replies View Relatedjust purchased an NEC Spectraview LCD2690WUxi2 display (1920x1600 26" LCD SIPS panel), and fonts are aliasing strangely, almost as if they are not falling "on the pixel" in the OS. It's not a "big" problem but is clearly noticeable in my transition from my 23" cinema display. This is particularly evident with small fonts or italics. I'm really hoping that there are settings either in OSX or on the display that can fix this issue. Images look absolutely fantastic BTW�tack sharp, no banding, phenomenal color. I have had my MacBook for just over a year. A weeks ago, the display started go weird: - strange shapes started appearing on the desktop - a fluorescent green (like vertical strips of 5 or 6 pixels in a group), sometimes as a shadow of a previous open window, sometimes just random squares or lines. The blocks of green go if i run my mouse over them with the button pressed down. -a fluorescent green light sometimes shines around the programme tiles in the dock. -shadows behind open windows very accentuated and fluorescent green - sometimes text on web pages and documents look garbled - again this goes if i run my mouse over them, and either go or comes back in a different place. Some times i can go a few hours without experiences these problems, other times the issue is there on start up. I ran the quick hardware check, and no problems were reported, a week later i ran the extensive check, and again the system seemed fine.

I could see the display brightness meter changing, but the brightness did not. Restarting didn't help. Called Apple and they're going to replace the computer. Has this happened to anybody else? View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have a rather frustrating issue. After installing SwitchResX and now uninstalling it reseting to factory settings I have been left with a pain in the backside.
I have a 20" iMac (1680x1050) and a secondary monitor (1280x1024) and now I and firstly, stuck In some kind of mirror displays mode, even though it is not enabled in system preferences. The wallpapers, resolutions and general screen contents is different except it keep mirroring the mouse movement from my iMac screen.
Secondly, in system preferences, under the Arrange tab, there are now displays in the box, I have an empty box meaning I cannot arrange my displays.
I just got a new MacBook Pro for graduation. I've decided to use my iMac as an external display and use my Macbook Pro as my main computer. My iMac has about 1TB of space while my MacBook has about 500 GB. Since I'll be using my iMac primarily as a external display I was thinking about also using it as an external harddrive so I can backup my data from my Macbook via Time Machine.Is this ok to do? Does anyone advised that I don't? I just want to make sure I don't screw up anything before doing so. BTW I also have a WD external harddrive connected to my iMac.

When I took my new Imac 24 out of the box last week, instantly i noticed about 3 or 4 dead pixels, they aren't too bad but it's only of those things you don't expect with a new computer and it can be quite distracting once you know they are there.... if i were to contact the place of purchase in regards to this do you feel i would be over-reacting to have it replaced or repaired or should i just suck it up?

This is a screenshot straight from Photobooth, showing the image from my iSight when the black cleaning cloth is held up to it. No, those marks are not dirt (on the outside anyway). Other that this, my iMac is fine with the exception of a single dead pixel (I thought this was a thing of the past, but oh well) and I'm not 100% about whether or not I have the yellow screen issue, so I'll ignore it for now.

It drives me absolutely CRAZY...probably because I paid $900 for this display. I can't remember ever having a problem pixel on another display...all of them cheaper. So I'm curious about the iMac owners. Is a dead/stuck pixel here and there an expected thing for iMac owners?
View 24 Replies View Related2 weeks ago I finally decided to order an iMac, despite all of the issues I had been hearing about with the display. I figured that I was going to be one of the lucky ones and have no issues whatsover. I was ordering a brand new machine and it should be fine.After about 30 minutes of getting things up and running, and while a webpage with a good bit of white background was open, I noticed the dead pixel (pixels?). As the question mark shows, I'm not really sure if this is considered one pixel or many. So I figured I'd let the gurus like Hellhammer tell me. The first picture is zoomed out and is of the bottom left hand corner where the dead pixel(s) is. I apologize for the spots around it, that is actually inside the camera body itself I think (Nikon D40x) and I can't seem to get them cleaned off. That's another issue....sigh. The second is a very close in picture of the area. I photoshopped the lense spots out to see it better.Individual pixles are visible. This to me looks like 5 dead ones in a diagonal row.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy mid-2014 15" Macbook Pro randomly "loses" its retina display at the top menu (becomes pixel-y), where the battery, sound, and wifi logos are (on the top right side of the screen). A restart fixes the issue, but I want to know if this is an issue that can be fixed?

I use an Intel white iMac 2.0gHz as my primary computer. So far, it has given me no trouble. However, lately I woke the computer to discover a yellow line of dead pixels all the way to the right of the screen. It was discouraging but since the line was out of the way, it wasn't a great deal. However again, later today, I woke the display to find another line running down the middle of the computer. Oh gosh! Anyone know what is going on? Is it the display or the graphics card?
