View 9 RepliesI have been using the same exact setup with the 2011 MBA but the new one won't work with my projector. I have a Acer X1161P 3D-DLP Projector and the proper cables since this has previously been working. I saw that in the first update there was something about external monitors.Â

I'm just wondering what cables I need to connect my Alu Macbook to my projector.
Here is a picture of my Projector's ports:

Looking to connect your Mac notebook to a TV, projector, or sound system? Here's a quick guide that outlines all the things you need to make it happen - from adapters to cables to ports. Just follow the simple instructions to verify that you're getting exactly what you need. And remember, just because you setup the video side of things correctly doesn't mean you're going to get audio. If you want both video AND audio, make sure to also follow the directions indicated in the "Audio" portion of this post. VIDEO Check the ports on the back of your TV or sound system to see which of the following options are available to you. Find the port that matches below, and you're set! Remember, if you also want audio, check the "Audio" section at the bottom of the post. If you want to use composite video and you're using a MacBook (white, purchased after fall 2009), you need this adapter + a third party converter + a VGA cable + a composite (aka "RCA") cable. Aluminum unibody (black keys, purchased after summer 2009) MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro, you need this adapter + a third party converter + a VGA cable + a composite (aka "RCA") cable.

I see the projector in my Network wireless connection menu as "casiolpj_default1." The projector's LOGIN CODE is four digits, but the Network settings on my laptop must contain a minimum of eight characters. I've also tried connecting to the projector's Server IP address via computer to computer. I can join, but no projection. The projector is set to Wireless Input. I have clicked "detect monitors" on the MacBook.  No further info is available in the projector manual. Â

I have the most recent Macbook Pro, and I want to connect it to my projector. The projector has an S-Video port. The new Macbook Pros don't have a mini-DVI port, so I can't use a Micro-DVI to S-Video adapter.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got this new computer and the connections are different. I realize that we now have thunderbolt instead of the video connection I had on my last MacBook. I have to teach a class on Friday. How can I connect my new computer to the projector? There doesn't seem to be an adaptor cable made for this. The projector is relatively new, expensive, and I can't buy another one. The video cable from the projector is a PC-type thing with two screws.

wondering why the remote works fine and then stops when I connect a projector?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having difficulties connecting my late-2013 retina display Macbook Pro to my Viewsonic PJD5223 projector. I have a (working) HDMI to VGA adaptor as well as an HDMI to mini-displayport/thunderbolt adaptor, and I have tried using two methods to connect: Â
1. Using he HDMI port directly
2. Using the thunderbolt port through the HDMI/thunderbolt adaptor on the Macbook ProÂ
Neither method appear to working. My Macbook Pro screen begins to blink/flicker, as if connecting then disconnecting rapidly. During the quick flashes, sometimes I can catch a glimpse of successful connection to the projector because the display settings panel for multiple screens appears. Â
I know that my adaptors are working because I can connect my Macbook Pro to my HP monitor with either of the two methods. I can also connect my PC to the projector using the HDMI/VGA adaptor. The problem appears to be specific to the retina display Macbook Pro or a more recent software update because I can connect to the projector using an older 2008 non-retina Macbook Pro.Â

What is the exact name of that white cable to connect my MacBook (new, multi-touch version) to a video projector? I see this site, but I'm not sure which one I need.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have a Imac ( bought it like early last year ), and a vivitek h1080fd projector.
I went out and bought a mini displayport to hdmi converter, then plugged in my hdmi cable to both the converter and then to the projector...
For some reason either my mac isnt letting a signal through or the projector cant read it.
I can plug in my windows netbook fine via VGA to VGA, and the projector can catch the signal.
Any ideas?
I am trying to connect my PowerMac G5 to my projector to watch movies and have my Itunes visualizer displayed . My projector has a VGA port.
I need to know what exactly I need to buy and if there is anything that has to be done as far as programming.
I have only twenty-four hours to figure out how best to connect a large screen TV in one room and an Optoma projector in another so that Powerpoint can be viewed on both of them. It seems that my 15" Powerbook G4 cannot support sending both a DVI signal and an S-Video signal at the same-time.
Has anyone any knowledge of websites or threads that have related information? I know that multiple displays are supported....I think... Any ideas?
I have a macbook (Intel Core Duo running at 2.16) which I would like to use with an external monitor or a video projector. Although I have the adapter I used with my old iBook G3 500, it won't fit into the monitor port on my MacBook, and I don't know what to get.
If I could see pictures instead of just reading the various initials of the different connectors,
Have new MacMini... need to connect both a display VGA and a separate digital projector but there is only the HDMI to VGA port. Could I use the Thunderbolt port for that purpose, and if I can, do I need a special cable and connector to VGA?

how do i connect my playstation 3 to my 2012 21" imac? as in, i want to use my iMac as a display so that I can play my ps on it... can i do this? what cords do i need etc?

I am running a network using a Time Machine as my DHCP server and Verizon wireless router. I use Microsoft Exchange for email, etc. For hours at a time, my Intel iMac (OS 10.7.4) will not connect to my Exchange Server using Outlook 2012, and I can not connect to the Exchange server using my browsers-Google Chrome or Safari (Outlook web access). I get errors that the server is not available. If I use another computer on my network, like my MacBook, it connects both through Outlook or Web Access in a browser window.
I have the same problem on my iMac whether I connect via ethernet or wireless. Firewall is disabled, using no proxies, etc... The problem may persist for a few hours or a day at a time and will spontaneously resolve-I have tried changing DHCP settings, etc... The problem occurs for all user accounts, and does not seem to differ if multiple users are logged or just one. The Exchange server address is the only web address I seem to have this problem with.

I am having the following problem when connecting my macbook to my new Sony projector.
The projector is only showing a portion of the computer screen. It seems as if the computer is dividing the notebook screen and the proyector and I can move objects between the two screens. Its like having two displays.
But i dont want this. I just want to have the projector show exactly what the macbook is showing on its screen so that I can watch movies.
When i connect my macbook with an vga adapter to my projector it does not work. The projector is saying: no signal. How can i do to get the picture on the projector?

has anyone attempted to hook the brand new MBP Unibody to a projector?
I saw many problems to hook it to an external monitor via VGA or DVI adapter... has anyone attempted it? Is it possible?
I have a presentation by the end of the month and I need to know if I can do it on my Mac with Keynote or have to go with the craptastic Power Point.
What type of adaptors do you need for the new Air to be sure you can use it on all types of projectors?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am looking for some suggestions for a projector that will run, and hook up smoothly on the Air. I don't need top of the line, but maybe around $700.00 is in the budget so far. I want to be able to show keynote presentations, website demos, and maybe some shorter video clips as well.
PS: I did some digging and wondered if the Optoma EP7150 was a good bet. The street price is around 800.00 (but I found a few that were around 500), and there is a newer model out now so the price should be dipping). 2.8 lbs, 2500:1 contrast ratio, 2,000 lumens... and XGA output. Anyone have any experience with this one?
I have a MBA (my first apple since the Mac SE 20... ha!) and I have a Dell 2300 multimedia projector. I have the DVI-VGA adaptor, but I can't get a good picture to project. I've toyed with the display settings to see if I can get it to improve. The picture stays dark, or blurry, etc etc.
Is there a setting I'm missing, or could I maybe have a bad adaptor?
I am getting a Pico Pocket Projector. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer a vga port and the only way to connect anything is through composite. I was thinking of using VGA to Composite and purchased the following:

However, when I hook it up to my TV (projector is wrapped away some where) it does not respond and the macbook doesn't pick up on it. Do I need the official apple one? I want to browse the web as well as watching movies.
I am operating tiger 10.4.11 and my graphics thingy is Intel GMA 950.
