MacBook :: Can't Listen Music Peacefully - Repeatedly Freezes
Apr 23, 2009
I have a late 2007 black macbook that I loved. I didn't use it much for a year but since my other computer is dying, im using the macbook alot more now. I am starting to hate it. The main reason is because I can't listen to any music peacefully. I would go to youtube or a artist's myspace page to check out some of their songs. When I would play the song, it would repeatedly freeze and I would have to pause it for a couple of seconds. Then when I pressed play again it rewinded a couple of seconds. It would work for another ten seconds then freeze again, then play and freeze repeatedly. It is so aggravating. My second complaint is that it takes forever to load a webpage. The beachball would replace the mouse pointer several times. I can't ever go to a webpage without the beachball showing up. I do live on a college campus but it hadn't done that the first couple of weeks when I started using it here. I feel like there is a real problem and I can't peacefully listen or sample any music online or in iTunes. Another thing, I once mistyped [URL] by typing and it brought me to a dark grey screen saying warning! malicious software on this site and has the buttons saying "go back" or "continue". I clicked the back arrow button and pop up brought up saying they needed to resend info again so I cancelled and then x'ed out of safari just to be safe. I hope that malware didn't hit me at all. Let me know about my situations.
I have set my website up in iWeb (so simple and great) and I have added to the homepage a QT music file for visitors to listen to. Unfortunately however when you do click on the song and then navigate to one of my other pages on the website such as my portfolio, the music stops. I was hoping that the song would play continuously while navigating through the website no matter what page the visitor was on. Is this even possible?
When I go on my iTunes, I click on my music to listen to it. When i click on the song, it says " The song ____ could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it? " . What do i do and what do they mean by locate?
I am having trouble routing my itunes to my external hard drive using a PC. I have a large number of music files on my external hard drive and do not want to move the files to my internal hard drive. I have tried going to preferences and selecting the external drive, but itunes does not display my music.
I'm using a macbook pro with Lion. I used youtube to listen to songs and watch videos till about a week ago. But now The site opens, but when I click on a video to play, they say that 'An error has occurred'. How can I make it work again?
i am a teacher in a school where we have been told that every student must shut down each MacBook or iMac when finished. It is not unusual for 6-8 classes a day to do this. I have said putting the MacBooks to sleep would be better for them. Some of the laptops are taking 5 minutes to restart. Can't find data from Apple to support my concerns.
I went to boot up my MacBook Pro and during the startup it turned itself off. Before I could try to turn it on again, it was rebooting itself and then instantly turned off. This now happens repeatedly, with the boot up sometimes reaching the grey loading screen and sometimes not, but it continuously shuts down and reboots until I hold down the power button for an extended period of time.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8. I was just using skype an hour ago but now it keeps quitting unexpectedly. My internet hung so I forced shut it down, restarted in Safe Mode, exited it and started it on the normal mode. I opened skype in safe mode and it was fine! but after that, when i exited safe mode, the error message that skype is quitting unexpectedly keeps showing up! ive tried everything - deleted the files in the skype folder, reinstalled skype but nothing works! I have an anti-virus installed on my mac so I've scanned skype and nothing seems to be infected really desperate now because I use Skype on a daily basis.
Mac is running latest OSX Mavericks software.... But lately, my Mac is crashing repeatedly when I attempt to use iTunes or iBooks, both also the latest releases. Syncing with either iTunes or iBooks is nearly impossible. No disk repair or verification errors. I am thinking that there is some rogue software glitch that has me. I am thinking that I need to do a factory reset followed by a time machine data recovery.
I just purchased a 15" MacBookPro (July 2010). I am not used to laptop keyboards so I was able to purchase a bluetooth Apple Keyboard with the Numeric keys. This bluetooth external keyboard was made by Apple and a local company had these brand new for $60. I was told they were the model that came with iMacs. Apple support told me that they should work fine but did not offer an effective solution. So at any rate about 70% of the time this Bluetooth keyboard works great.
But sometimes when you go to type something it starts repeating whatever key you hit so it you were to type and "a" an example the MacBookPro displays "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa". Sometime just a few of the same character and sometimes it does not stop. I correct this by turning the power switch off on the Apple Bluetooth keyboard and then turn it back on and all is fine, for a while. Sometimes for a week or so then it will do it a lot for a while or just intermittently. The keyboard built into MacBookPro does not do this. I think it may be the Apple Bluetooth keyboard not the MacBookPro or its OS.
I am having an issue installing Snow Leopard on my computer. Every time I start the installation process, the process makes it to the first restart, and then crashes. I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and using a early 2008 Macbook. I have tried verifying the disk, but Disk Utility says the disk is fine with no issues. The hard drive was recently replaced so I doubt that their is a problem there...does anyone have any advice on how I should install Snow Leopard?
I'm facing an issue with safari. Every time I try to start the app safari - alert window pops up, and I cannot really close it because when I do, it shows again and again.
How do I listen to a CD-ROM MP3 with out importing to my iTunes.
Everytime I open the CD and double clic on the song it imports to my iTunes.
As there are about a 1000 songs on the CD I just want to listen rather than filling up my HD memory. When i put in a normal CD it always ask's if I want to import... But with the CD_ROM already in MP3 format it imports straight away. (iTunes 7 on OSX 10.3.9)
i'm having trouble listening to radio stations on the net via a mac. i keep getting error messages like 'plugins are not installed' can anybody tell me how i can get round this, and is there a specific program i can use?
im stationed in Guam, while i sit at my computer all day i wanted to listen to the radio stations from my home town. they do have an internet feed, but i get this message. MIME type ?application/x-mplayer2" can you please tell me how to fix this.
I listen my favorite radio station on Safari. How can I lock in my radio station on iTunes? I want to use my airport express to manage an external loudspeaker.
I have an .m3u file that I want to listen to. It say’s I need to use iTunes to hear it, but there seems to be no way to import or listen to anything on iTunes that does not come through it’s server. I’ve tried everything I could think of, without success. I can’t find a way to play it with QuickTime either. I’m stuck. It seems odd that I can’t listen to this snippet.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7), Snow Leopard - newest
Ever since my old Marantz amp died I've been unable to listen to records. I've been listening to CDs through my Klipsch ProMedia GMX 2.1 speakers which sounded fine until the bass amp blew recently. So now I have no amp and no speakers.
Is there a way in mac OS X, either by a third party app, or something, that would let me listen to online radio stations? Either a safari or firefox plugin?
how to set apache to listen to onlt certain ip's? I tried changing the httpd.conf file using the listen command, but it still listens to all ips. If I adjust the default website to listen to lets say 192.168.2.2:80 it does, but then seems like it breaks server admin, where changes do not save.
Once in awhile i'll get what I assume is an alert on my iMac, but I don't know what it's for. This morning for example I turned on my iMac and I only had Safari open but I heard a two tone alert, but I seriously doubt that alert came from Safari. I'll hear that every once in awhile but I could never seem to figure what it's for? Do you guys have any idea where I can find out where that alert is coming from?
I want to listen to some radio station but the online services requires me to install Microsoft Silverlight. Shall I do this as its a Microsoft product? What is your experience using this?
I downloaded an album to my MacBook. For the song I want to listen to the most, Itunes only plays part of the song and then switches to the next song. How should I rectify this situation?
A radio station that I listen to on-line has switched from a Flash-based player to a Silverlight-based player. Classic FM (in the UK) even have a handy 'How to listen' guide for Macs which talks about their Flash player, but when I click to launch it I get a message telling me to install Silverlight. Is there any way that I can listen to the station on my Mac without installing Silverlight.
