MacBook :: Are Laptop Chargers Recyclable
May 1, 2012
I know that Apple recycles old notebooks and batteries, but what about chargers? My MacBook charger no longer works but I don't want to toss it if it can be recycled somehow. Anyone know?

my MacBook Pro is dead and quit recognizing any chargers. I just had to replace the charger a month ago and have it reset at the same time in the store. However I live in Mexico and going to a Mac store is not action here. The computer has no damage and I've only had it for a year.

I purchased a Macbook Air 11-inch in March. I previously had owned a first-generation MacBook Pro 15-inch, and was just curious as to whether it is safe to use the charger from my Macbook Pro 15-inch to charge my new Macbook Air.
The following is what appear on the chargers:
Macbook Pro (First generation): Apply 85W Portable Power Adapter
Macbook Air (Latest model): Apple 45W MagSafe Power Adapter
Is the older charger safe to use and will it not damage the battery on my new Macbook Air?

I have a new (mid 2012) Mac Book Air. I'm noticing that the power jack on these new laptops are a bit wider and my power cords for the older MBA and/or MBP's do not fit and don't charge this MBA. How annoying!! Why the F did they change this power jack size??

I did a brief search and couldn't find anything.
But I was wondering if it was possible to buy more of the batteries with out the charger? I know the generic consensus is that they are just re-branded Eneloops, but it'd be nice to have all the batteries be the same.

Does it matter if I'm charging my MBP even when it has full battery and I am currently using it? I.e. using the charger instead of using the battery? My friend did this with his laptop and when he after 1-2 years tried using the laptop without the charger he got like 30-60 minutes of battery time. I don't want this to happen to my MBP.

Is anyone using Photoshop on a Laptop? If so, what kind of laptop, processor, ram etc? How odes it work for you? Is it powerful and fast enough using CS4?I've been told that a Mac Book Pro 2.2 gHZ works fine for editing photos using Photoshop CS4. I'm looking at buying a new computer and wondering if I can get buy using a laptop as opposed to being tied to a desk.I'm considering a new Apple 13" 2.4 or 2.66gHZ C2D, 4MB with a Nvidia 320M GPU. I like the small form factor and battery life for taking with me in the field. I can always plug in a larger monitor when needed.

I've got a 13" MacBook Pro, 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 machine with a Thunderbolt port and no other video outputs.
Can I connect this laptop to a regular, old-fashioned tube tv? Or can it only connect to an HDMI set?

The only method I have to charge my laptop on my boat is by a 115V outlet. Both the power converter for the Macbook and the wall socket work fine, and so does my battery, but I think that there may just not be enough power. Is there any way to keep charging my laptop? Possibly a product that will produce either enough amperage or voltage to continuously charge my laptop? I'm going to need to be out on my boat for continuous periods of time for a research project.

My MacAir laptop keeps asking for my keychain when I try to retrieve my mail. I purposely kept a sticky note with the PW b/c it had done this before. I used that saved PW and it rejects it!! Consequently, I can't get my mail and I am getting very upset. I've read all of the online "fixes" about going to Applications, then Utilities, keychain access, deleting and trying again.

I have installed MacKeeper, and now am in doubt whether I should lock my Macbook Air (but then I can't erase the contents anymore), erase the contents (but then I am afraid MacKeeper, who is supposed to take a picture and send it, will also be disabled), or do nothing and trust MacKeeper

I just set up my MBA uisng the TIme MAchine backup from my old MacBook Pro. In doing so, it gave my Air the same name as I was using for the MBP - which was MY MAcBookPro. I'd like to change the name now seen by other devices, etc.
I can't see how to change that.
Where do I go?

I did a hard reset of my magsafe charger, changed from the 3 prong to 2 prong charging end. I go into system preferences and do system report -> power and an error message comes up saying that "there was an error while gathering this information."
The laptop will not charge, and battery is at 69% while plugged in. Also, even though the battery is at 69%, it will not turn on without being plugged in to the charger. It also will not wake from sleep. I've restarted several times. What should I do next? I'm hoping that I will not have to buy a new battery.
