View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Macbook is currently stuck booting up in windows 7. My shift key also appears to be stuck so holding the Option key when booting up to choose a start up disk isn't an option (it doesn't work). I do not currently have access to an external keyboard. I do have the startup disk. I'm wondering if I can use the startup disk to reset the systems startup disk? Are there other options?

Does it matter if I'm charging my MBP even when it has full battery and I am currently using it? I.e. using the charger instead of using the battery? My friend did this with his laptop and when he after 1-2 years tried using the laptop without the charger he got like 30-60 minutes of battery time. I don't want this to happen to my MBP.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs anyone using Photoshop on a Laptop? If so, what kind of laptop, processor, ram etc? How odes it work for you? Is it powerful and fast enough using CS4?I've been told that a Mac Book Pro 2.2 gHZ works fine for editing photos using Photoshop CS4. I'm looking at buying a new computer and wondering if I can get buy using a laptop as opposed to being tied to a desk.I'm considering a new Apple 13" 2.4 or 2.66gHZ C2D, 4MB with a Nvidia 320M GPU. I like the small form factor and battery life for taking with me in the field. I can always plug in a larger monitor when needed.

The only method I have to charge my laptop on my boat is by a 115V outlet. Both the power converter for the Macbook and the wall socket work fine, and so does my battery, but I think that there may just not be enough power. Is there any way to keep charging my laptop? Possibly a product that will produce either enough amperage or voltage to continuously charge my laptop? I'm going to need to be out on my boat for continuous periods of time for a research project.

My MacAir laptop keeps asking for my keychain when I try to retrieve my mail. I purposely kept a sticky note with the PW b/c it had done this before. I used that saved PW and it rejects it!! Consequently, I can't get my mail and I am getting very upset. I've read all of the online "fixes" about going to Applications, then Utilities, keychain access, deleting and trying again.

I have installed MacKeeper, and now am in doubt whether I should lock my Macbook Air (but then I can't erase the contents anymore), erase the contents (but then I am afraid MacKeeper, who is supposed to take a picture and send it, will also be disabled), or do nothing and trust MacKeeper

I just set up my MBA uisng the TIme MAchine backup from my old MacBook Pro. In doing so, it gave my Air the same name as I was using for the MBP - which was MY MAcBookPro. I'd like to change the name now seen by other devices, etc.
I can't see how to change that.
Where do I go?
I did a hard reset of my magsafe charger, changed from the 3 prong to 2 prong charging end. I go into system preferences and do system report -> power and an error message comes up saying that "there was an error while gathering this information."
The laptop will not charge, and battery is at 69% while plugged in. Also, even though the battery is at 69%, it will not turn on without being plugged in to the charger. It also will not wake from sleep. I've restarted several times. What should I do next? I'm hoping that I will not have to buy a new battery.

Been using Mac Towers exclusively for years and years, and I'm now thinking about adding a laptop to my setup. I've seen the specs and all, but one question remains for the *unibodies* MacBooks: how easy is it to access the battery, HD and RAM to swap them myself?

I have a macbook pro and i used my old phillips tv for a 2nd screen. Bought a DVI-I to DVI-I cable, and was working just fine. For xmas I got a Dynex 26inch. I noticed it has a VGA and not DVI input, so I figured I would buy a DVI-I to VGA adapter and still be able to use the same cable. I go to hook it up and my TV says no signal.
On my laptop it detected the tv as BBY LCD TV, but still has no picture. Is there a setting I need to change? Or is the better route going with a new DVI-I to VGA or HDMI cable?
I was always a desktop guy because desktops are dependable and strong. But things changed and I do not heavily use my computer so I bought a macbook the one with no firewire. I heard that laptops today are just as good and reliable as desktops.
So I just have to ask , I am only running Safari with 4-5 tabs open and watching a video . Is it normal for the fans to be this loud and on most of the time? I mean this is hardly using the CPU.
Or does it have to do with the room temperature because this usually happens when the air conditioning is off.
I am afraid these fans are saying to me: The laptop is HOT, be careful. I get ideas that it might hurt the laptop if it gets hot and the fans turn on.
