My System Preference is stuck open on the wi fi section asking if I want to run diagnostics or cancel, I am unable to close this screen or to use any other function in the system preference, what I need to do to get rid of the screen.

this is how it looks like I can only see the System Preference window when i hit the Spaces icon in the DockI basically had 6 spaces & had System Preference window stetted to open in the 6th Space, but after installing a programcalled 'DockSpaces' i was down to 4 spaces i uninstalled it but still...so now i cannot access System Preference in anyway, it's just stuck in Spaces

I have a macbook air and everything was working fine until all of a sudden my computer froze. I then rebooted my computer by holding down the power key because it would not allow me to open or close any programs. After i rebooted whenever i open safari, itunes, or ichat the computer freezes. i don't know what is going on because firefox and other programs seem to be working fine but certrain programs i open freezes up the computer. the dock stops working and the clock does not even run. i am able to move the mouse around but i can not click and open or close anything.

I tried to set-up a parental control but set it up wrong. Now when i go to undo the changes a made system preferences crashes every time.

when i try to close, minimize or maximize a window on any app. on my macbook it ends u pdoing the next thing it is close to...!:[ why?an example is when i try to minimize (click on the yellow buble) it ends up closing the app. when i try to close it it minimize it@ first i thoguth it was a bug
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I last used my computer (4days ago) everything was fine! now it gets stuck in zoom and there are no "x" on my tabs. So now the only way I can close a tab is by command w and I have to close the window to get out of zoom. I've read you have to reset safari to fix it but then I also have read that doesn't work and you lose all your saved web pages.

a few days ago i installed a virus program on my mac computer i think it was called macaroni . but since then when i turn my computer on it loads up but not completely. the blue tooth application is stuck open and the suitcase will not open. also in the bar on the top of the screen the clock or nothing on the right side will appear and the computer freezes nothing will open?? your help would greatly be appreciated because i use my computer for college.thank you

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to system prefs. and go into any submenu, the max/min/close buttons, as well as the search box, heck that entire bar just disappear. Its only when I hover over them do the individual items pop back into display, but the whole bar just doesn't restore itself. Like imagine the top bar on firefox, except its a white strip and the 3 buttons are rectangular blobs sticking out against the white. If that makes sense.

I'm using a MacBook Pro (Penryn) running Leopard. Every time I try and change my wallpaper in system preferences, it crashes and asks me if I'd like to report it to Apple. It eventually gave me the "would you like to reset settings and relaunch" dialogue. Still continuously crashes. I just want to change my damn wallpaper and this is annoying me to no end.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo Apple wanted to charge me $900 to change my broken LCD screen. I did the change myself for $86, a feat I am very proud of. Everything works great (the bezel's a bit loose and I did a little aesthetic damage to the hinge cover) but apart from that, the screen is 10x brighter than my old Rev B screen. The problem is this: I can't regulate brightness. Neither from in system preferences or from my keyboard. The monitor does, however, dim, and sleep. Is this a firmware issue? If so, how do I fix it? I would kinda' like to have control over screen brightness. After some use, this screen is really SUPER bright. I'd really like to get the brightness down to humane levels (it's shining out the back of the case where you normally don't see light).

Ive ran multiple different types of terminal searches for this "flashback" Trojan worm/virus that's going around. I've also searched for com.apple.systempreference.plist and it's not in there at all. I've done safe mode and everything else. I do not have a wallpaper HD lite, I am OUT of options, and I really don't want to have to re install Lion. Can someone PLEASE tell me something, other than those options?

I installed Windows Vista, and Vista boots up fine. However, I hold down the command keys when starting my computer up again, and it won't let me select Mac OS X. It just starts Vista.
On "My Computer" in Vista I see "Bootcamp (C" and "Macintosh HD (E in my Hard Disks Drives. Also, whenever I start up Vista it tells me something about a wrongly formatted drive. My files are still all in the Mactintosh HD drive, but I don't know how to start up Mac OS X.
I open and close my 2010 MBP a lot. Maybe 15 times per day. Am I running the risk of breaking a cable between the base and screen or something? Should I just set it down and let it run?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMBP/Lion - I'm using my MBP in dual monitor mode with an external monitor and power supply connected. If I close the lid and then disconnect the monitor, my MBP won't wake after opening the lid. I know that with Lion a change was made and the power stays on with an external monitor attached and the lid closed (with the adapter plugged in), but if you unplug the display, there doesn't seem a way out of this state. Even plugging the monitor back in, the display wont refresh In this state the power managment is confused. When closed, the power light is on, with the lid opened the power light goes off, the display remains blank and I can't wake the device. The only solution is to re-boot. as I just want to close the lid, unplug power and the monitor and leave work to go home. I end up running the battery down if I don't catch it before putting the MBP in my bag, and I always have to reboot.

I'm thinking about getting a MB Pro for bussines purpose.I still have some questions left and would appreciate it if you can answer.I need to have it run 24/7 most of the time in Windows7 on 2x30" Dell Dual-DVI and I'm taking it with me for traveling and use the Screens at home.

Ok I have been trying to find the reason why this is happening. I am having an issue with the icons disappearing, the file is still there and you can click on it if you click on the words, but the icon is not there just the icon is gone. The icon that is not showing up is the folder icon primarily. I have searched several different sites and can not find an answer to my problem. I have tried to do the equivalent of a (rebuild desktop) desktop reset which was a program I downloaded from apple: URL
It did not help either and after installing that and doing the reset. Now when I go to open a picture, it opens in color sync instead of preview. The only way I can open a picture in preview is to open preview and then open a picture through it. It is like color sync is the default for some reason. Does someone know how to fix this? But my main concern is tis icon issue I am having. I don't know what to do as it is making it very hard to work. This even carries over to my external drives when hooked up. I need help as I do not know why it is doing this. : (
As far as other information, I just installed Tiger a few months ago if that helps any and this is on a mac mini. Other than that everything has been the same. I have relaunched the finder through opt+cmd+esc but it is not available to relaunch through right clicking the icon on the dock. Also it no longer allows me to drag a picture file over a program like Photoshop in the dock to open it in Photoshop. What is going on here? This getting crazy!!
Is there a way to disable the �pinch open and close� feature on a MBP trackpad? I swear, it�s going to put me in therapy. Every time I need to scroll through massive spreadsheets for work, if my fingers separate by even a hair, the trackpad reads it as a pinch, then the document suddenly balloons to massive proportion or shrinks to infinitesimally tiny print. Seems there ought to be a simple way to turn the thing off, but for the life of me, I can�t find it.

I am using an imac OS 10.5.8 When I click on system preferences it just gives a little blink but wont open, doesn't load from the icon in applications either. All I can think is that one of my kids may have trashed it but it's doubtful. What could have happened? Do I need to re-install OS?
