I have a 20gb b&w screen ipod classic. I believe I need to reboot it but I cannot get it to mount in iTunes in order to do this. For the moment, it is mounting on my MacBook Pro desktop only.Is there a way to force it to mount in iTunes or reformat the iPod with a diskutility on my Mac?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Macbook Air. I transfered my iTunes library from my old mac to the new one. However, some songs weren't on the old computer, they were only on the iPod classic.Â
When I try to sync the iPod classic, it tells me 539 songs aren't on the new computer, should it sync? I say yes. Then it says that the computer is no longer authorized. I fill in the authorization with the correct userid and password (it comes prefilled with a very strange userid that I've never seen before.) Â
It tries to sync, then I get the same message, that the computer is no longer authorized. Â
I'm assuming there's a certificate or cookie some place that's out of wack -- can you tell me where it is and I can go delete it? Â
PS. I was able to successfully sync my iPod Nano to the new computer without this issue at all. Then again, it didn't have any songs on it that weren't already on the new computer. I haven't tried syncing my iPod Mini to the new computer yet.

I use my iPod Classic for a lot of things on a daily basis. It means I don't have to take my laptop in school, I have all the files, pictures and documents I need for when I may need them at school. I have always just been copying and pasting files that I have changed or added onto and from the iPod Hard Drive. Now I use the files so much I always loose track of what I have updated and haven't and end up without the files I need when at school.
Is there a program that can keep my laptop and iPod folders up to date by syncing just the changed, added and deleted files. iTunes can sync quite a few things but not documents and folders which is annoying. A well needed update I feel as the iPod is increasingly becoming a necessity in a lot of peoples every day lives. So am I the only one that uses my classic as a portable hard drive for my work?
I just put the movie i rented on my iPod, but I decided I wanted to watch it on the computer. How do I get it back on the computer?

I bought a 320Gb external HDD which was to replace my internal 160Gb drive in my Unibody Macbook.
I used SuperDuper! to copy my original disk on to the new one, then swapped the disks. My 160Gb is no loger working, which is fine, but I want to install a fresh OSX on to the new hard drive. I can use the Disk at the moment but the mac can't boot from it. I need to hold down the option key and select it at startup, I presume because of the format/partition type.
When I try to do a fresh install of OSX, I get an error saying cannot install on this disk because of partition type (GUID Tables).
I'm not allowed to do anything to this disk because I can't 'unmount' it, so, can I run disk utilities from my install DVD? before mounting the disk?
It's a Dual 2 GHz PPC from 2007 running 10.5.8. I have old disks for 10.2 but they don't include Classic OS. I have OS 9 disks but they're for a G4. What are my options, including buying Classic OS somewhere or re-formatting the hard drive?

I have an indigo iMac G3 with OS X 10.2.8 and OS 9.2.2. I run lots of apps on OS X with the Classic Environment feature, but lately it tells me that a "Error occurred while updating system folder with Classic-specific resources."
I really need Classic Environment to work. how to fix this without reinstalling anything?

I have an extremely old Touchbase (AfterHours) application program (runs on Classic). With the purchase of a new IMac, I realized it doesn't read the old Classic system. This database has over 2500 contacts for our small office. Is there anyway to put this on a new IMac or any software out there that could convert the old program into a new database. I don't relish the idea of retyping 2500 pieces of information.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of pulling the data off of my collection of floppy disks. A lot of them are the really ancient 800K kind so I am using a Mac Classic II running System 7.0.1 to access them. The process is going well but occasionally I've run across a PC formatted floppy that the Mac won't read. It just says: This disk is not a Macintosh diskette. Do you want to Initialize it? So how do I give my Classic the ability to access these PC format diskettes?

Although I print at home with an Epson Stylus 740, I would like to install a basic printer for the classic Imac OS 9.6 at the office, mostly for printing pages of type. It would be used exclusively for the old, classic iMac only.

I have an iPod Hi-Fi, and I would like to use it as a speaker for my Macbook. I just want to know whether this is feasible, and if so, what cable do I need to get the maximum out of my iPod Hi-Fi?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just replaced my HDD with the new intel 160GB SSD. Everything is amazingly fast except for the booting process.
After I shut down the computer(which is extremely fast, about 3 seconds), I start my MBP, yet what's been puzzling me is that the time between pressing the button and appearing of the Apple logo last at least 15 seconds, after that, everything is just normal (fast, fast!!).
I wonder if this is normal,
I'm thinking about getting the MacBook Air, but my iTunes library is more than 80 GB. Is this possible:
? Keep iTunes library on a USB drive.
? To sync the iPod, simultaneously plug in the USB drive AND the iPod using a USB hub.
Is this possible? Is anyone doing this? Would it work if the USB drive had it's own power supply?
My late 2006 MBP 160GB hard drive died, can I install a late 2006 macbook 60GB hard drive into my macbook pro without any boot issues? Both machines have snow leopard, but since this is not a straight swap and I'm crossing between models I wasn't sure how successful I would be. I know that can't transfer my files, but I just wanted a working computer until I can get a new hard drive.

I'm about to install Windows 7 into Boot Camp on my Intel X25-M G2 160GB SSD, so I have about 30GB for Windows 7.
Is it possible Windows 7 can erase data on my partition with OSX on it, say for example if Windows 7 supports TRIM and OSX doesn't could that cause a problem?
I usually had spotlight search disabled, cause I don't really use the search at all .. well that was until yesterday I was looking for a file on the backup drive. Needless to say it took quite a while to find it, so I went back to considering spotlight again.
Long story short I switched on indexing for both the local disk (160GB) and the USB Backup Disk (1.5TB) and left spotlight running over night .. it is not quite there yet .. but the index is already almost 40Gb in total .. that is 20GB locally and then another 19GB on the USB disk.
So my question .. is that normal? Does spotlight store the index of the external disk locally again? I can't imagine the index of the ~100GB I have stored locally to be that big ..
Is it something normal while indexing and will reduce itself when it is done?
People usually report their indexes well below 1GB for larger disk than I use here at least that was what I found googling.
My girlfriend and I attended the Toronto Raptors game last nightFor those of you from Toronto, we parked below the Novotel Hotel on the Esplande. Since both of us were coming from work we had are valuables in the trunk. (we both placed are stuff in the trunk prior to arriving at the location). Well when we arrived back to the car we noticed the back passenger side window was smashed in and the trunk was empty. We weren't the only ones who were robbed in that lot, there was at least one other car that was broken into according to the hotel staff. The police seem to think it was a drug addicts looking for items to sell for drugs and that it is not a coincidence that it was during a Raptors game. The lot has no cameras due to construction being done, so for those in Toronto who frequent Leafs or Raptors games do not park there, it's a cheap alternative but not worth the risk.
