May 13, 2008I'm thinking about getting the MacBook Air, but my iTunes library is more than 80 GB. Is this possible:
? Keep iTunes library on a USB drive.
? To sync the iPod, simultaneously plug in the USB drive AND the iPod using a USB hub.
Is this possible? Is anyone doing this? Would it work if the USB drive had it's own power supply?

If I keep my file directory structure and naming the same, can I simply "re-point" iTunes to this new storage location and all my songs (etc...) will keep working in iTunes? Aug 16, 2009I was installing a software update on my mother's Intel iMac. While installing, the iMac told me that there was a problem and to contact the software manufacturer. When I went to reboot, it would not. All I get is the universal sign for stop (circle with a 45 degree angle line through it). My mother has no backups whatsoever. She needs her information. I am in need of a safe way to retrieve her information.I have tried the basic help from Apple's site--nothing worked. A friend told me that I might be able to boot the computer from a bootable external hard drive and pull the information off that way.

May 15, 2012i have made a bootable lion hard drive before and it worked fine. But after the 10.7.4 update i am unable to make another one. When i follow the usual steps
1- download lion from app store
2- show package contents
3- contents- shared contens- drag and drop them dmg file into disk utility (something along those lines).
4-restore drive (external hard drive) and drag the lion file to the 'source' area and the external hard drive to the 'destination' area.
5- When i hit restore it does everything but at the end it says something like "failed, invalid argument'?

Jun 2, 2012I am thinking about how to add extra storage to my macbook pro, and thinking that the simplest way would be to get a WD 2T and boot from that as a matter of course. I would use the internal drive for back-up. The reason for this is that the 1T internal is getting full. The other option is to replace the Super Drive (DVD/CD Drive) with a 750G, and have the dvd/cd drive external. What is better? Â

Jul 28, 2010I did a search for this problem but all the solutions seemed to involve using your iPod or old hard drive to recover. I recently had two tragedies in a short period of time. First, my iPod broke - a tragedy, but one I could get past. The second was the horrible death of my laptop's hard drive. I had some backups of important school and work related files, as well as a few other things like old tax documents, and much of my older files, but I did not have my iTunes folders backed up, because I was under the impression that I could download these songs again through iTunes should the need arise, since I had purchased them in the past.
Now, on my new computer, I have downloaded iTunes, and have been trying to recover my old songs. I authorized this computer, but when I "check for available downloads" it says everything has been downloaded, and that I should try to transfer the songs from the other computer. This is of course, impossible at this point. I can still see my purchases in my history, and if I try to purchase a song I had before, it warns me that this will create a duplicate. Will I have to purchase these songs again? I can see how I should have backed up my music, but I thought that iTunes would allow me to acquire them again.

Jan 7, 2010My friend gave me his old Apple cube G4 + 15" Cinema display in like 1000 pieces. Its completely teared apart. I tried a lot, but it doesn't work. The original IDE cable wasn't included, so I bought one for 2 cents. It should work or not? Maybe the powersupply. I'm not sure. I don't believe actually that the hardware itself, like the motherboard is broken. When everything is into place and I connect the cube to the powersupply it boots immediately. I don't have to do anything. Harddrive spins and the superdrive makes some noise as well. This repeats itself every 5 seconds. The screen is connected and gets power through DVI, but no display. Both the cube and display have touch enabled buttons to switch it on, but they do not respond (I guess).. Motherboard gives 2 light. DS1 is green, DS2 is red.

Jun 19, 2009Just upgraded to the iPhone OS 3.0 on my 1st gen iPod Touch and when I turn the volume up whilst it's in the iPod Hi-Fi, the volume dips when I've finished turning it up... When I push the volume up again the volume slider on the iPod touch then moves down to where it dipped.it's quite hard to explain! Basically, when I turn the volume up to 50%, the sound dips to 25%.... the slider still shows 50% until I press the volume up button and it would move the slider to 25%. (If I wanted to play my music at 50% I would have to turn it up to 75% and wait for it to dip to 50%!)I have reset the iPod touch and restored it but the problem still exists. OS 1.0 and 2.0 didn't have this problem. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a solution?
