I really wan't to know if there are anyone out there who can swear that their new MBA (13") doesn't creak AT ALL? I mean some ppl says that their MBA dosen't say anything at all! Is that really true? Or is it just because you (owners of non-creaking MBA) don't notice or is it because you don't think it is a problem?
I would also like to hear if any of you have made the creaking go away (for good) by tighten the buttomplate?
my 15inch umbp that i got in april is now creaking quite loudly when i lift up the lid to turn it on and again when i close it, is this normal or is it going to get worse
1) If i connect my MBP to 2010 Samsung LED Full HD tv with mini dvi to hdmi convertor will i get 1080p picture. I mean full hd? For example when i play movies will they be Full HD?2)Can i connect it to my 35" phillips regular tv. I mean i bought it back in 1999 and it was really good back in the day. Picture is still very nice but i can't find model. Anyways can i connect my MBP to it? If so how?I want to connect my MBP to TV because i download movies and shows and all but 15" screen is not enough for them. So i ordered it from Amazon to save 1500$ and had it shipped to my friend's house in USA. He will bring it with him when coming here to Turkey. I ordered on 16th of June, delivered on 23th of June and i will be getting it tomorrow. Problem is i heard that it should be calibrated within a week after buying. I suppose this wouldn't be a problem right? I mean it should be a week after booting it i think?second question is about using while calibrating. I know i can use my laptop when it is fully charged and resting on that state for 2 hours but can i use it while it's charging.

View 24 Replies View RelatedHave spent a lot of the festive break reading these discussions and still can't decide between 11'' or 13.'I will be replacing a G4 PB which is acting as my desk top. My main needs are: email, internet, Office, music storage and photography( playing rather than serious user!). I suspect the 11'' may do for my needs, but the 13'' seems 'better value for money' and perhaps more future proof?
I could sum it up by saying: my heart says 11'' but my head says 13!.I need to buy before Jan 4th to beat the UK VAT rise. If I spend any more time researching this on the net, either I'll go mad or my wife will leave (tempting choices! -just kidding!)

Focus seems to have gone to the 15" MBP's.
I wonder why, people not happy about the update to the 13" MBP? It's not 'that' bad ... or is the new 15" so well spec'd now that people want it regardless.
13" MBP was Apple's best selling computer in recent months, I wonder if the 15" will end up back on top now?
Has anyone ever had luck and had enough failures that with Apple Care Apple will just give you some credit toward a new machine?Can't remember what failed last time but i kept getting a blue screen after the load screen.

In goggling the internet I discovered I am not the only one suffering this problem. Has anyone had any success in redding their MBA of this problem permanently?

it's been just over a week now with my refurbished Rev B and I'm noticing the casing is creaky along the edges/seams. Everything is tight and it's not the display. Is this a Rev B thing? My Rev A was super solid and didn't make any noises. I know the internals of the Rev A vs. Rev B were drastically changed and I wonder if that has anything to do with it. It's not bad, I just noticed it and was curious... maybe it's a refurb thing?

It gets a bit annoying, I open it from the center top of the screen, not by the side. Is this a problem that I should be taking to the Apple Store? Or this can be fixed easily?

SOOO, my question is , does anyone elses 2010 MBA do this as well? I tried the display in the store but it is too loud in there to hear it.
I got my Unibody MacBook the first day they were available, and since late December, the hinge has gotten stiffer and stiffer, making a cracking noise when I move it after it stays in one position for a few seconds.
I took it to the Genius Bar (covered under AppleCare) but the people there wouldn't do anything about it, saying it's within normal spec and classifying it as a "user perception issue." (The slightly condescending sound of that phrase is for another post.)
Build-quality wise the unibodies are really as perfect as I've ever experienced any machine to be. Simply amazing. BUT, the black plastic hinge cover is cheap and creaks as soon as I grab the computer or open the display. I opened her up to see if there was anything I could do to reinforce it or something, but I didn't want to mess with it.

It just is very annoying, as it has a distinct plastiky sound to it, and it was not there to begin with. I don't know if this matters, but I have a Speck clear case that I used, but then I took it off because it seemed to be twisting the display a bit. Is this creaking a known issue with the Unibodies, or is it just because of the Speck case? I have never dropped my computer, and it has never been mistreated. It just leads its life on my desk or in my laptop bag.

Step by step would really I have a PC I need to reinstall windows xp on, so i downloaded a torrent copy of xp from the net ( i know it's illegal, but i had a licensed copy, and my horrible ex decided to take it when he left, so i don't feel so bad ) onto my mac. I expanded the .rar file, and was left with three icons. one says image.img and has a little pic of the harddrive on it, and has about 650 MB of info. the other two are small (4kb and 24 MB), and just show a blank page icon, and say image.ccd and image.subNow, I assume I need to get those files onto a c.d, which when inserted intomy P.C will automatically begin the install process on my P.C.

So I investigated to see if there were any cracks in the hinge. What I found was that if you look at the space between the bezel and the screen, there is a slight (very slight) bulge right by the wording "Macbook pro". If you press down on it, it moves--unlike the rest of the bezel.
There are some folks who insist on sending me e mail with either no subject lines or very vague subject lines.
What this ends up doing is associated messages with no subject or vague subject lines together when they really are not related at all. I've attached an example; that four different conversations from four different people, and none of them are related at all, but they are all part of one thread.
I've used Google's instructions to set up my Gmail accounts on Mac Mail using IMAP. The only issue I'm finding is when I have messages in my inbox, all I see are the emails that were sent to me. To see the messages I've send, I can only do this by clicking on sent mail.
Is there anyway to see my messages in their threads just by clicking on the inbox, just how it works when using Gmail via their web site? I can get the view I want when I click "All Mail" but then I have hundreds of emails rather than what's in my inbox. I've searched everywhere but have yet to find a solution.
On my 13" MacBook Pro, the hinge makes a cracking noise on the right side of the computer (near the power button) when the screen is positioned all the way back.
The entire hinge also makes a loud popping noise when I adjust the screen position. The screen seems very tight, and it takes a little bit of effort to move the screen, and when the screen is moved it makes the loud popping noise.
This is probably going to make some of you guys cringe, but sometimes putting pressure down on the top of the case close to where the black hinge meets to unibody enclosure seems to stop the popping noises. Putting downwards pressure on the hinge, or flipping the computer over and putting pressure on it that way, also seems to alter how much popping noise there is.
If I mess around a bit with applying pressure on different parts of the computer around the hinge, I can usually eliminate the noise. But, the cracking noise when I put the screen all the way back is still there.
It's not interfering with the operation of the computer, it's just incredibly annoying and this is only a four month old machine which shouldn't be creaking and cracking already.

Quite a few seem to have this 'issue' and I thought maybe somebody has figured out a solution?Such a shame on an otherwise perfect machine. I would have preferred the same kind of rubbery plastic that was on the old generation MBP
So last December my laptop got smashed and everything works except for the backlit screen. In fact I can still use this laptop it is just extremely hard since the screen does not light up. The person that smashed it ended up buying me a new laptop so I have this beat up (and I mean the shell is destroyed) laptop with quite a lot of functioning parts.
Now a few weeks ago my girlfriends Grandad spilled a beer on his brand new 2010 Macbook. The logic board is shot so it is almost cheaper for him to buy a brand new laptop.
Would it be possible for me to take the logic board out of my 2008 Black Macbook and put it into his 2010 White Macbook?
