Nov 17, 2008After switching from David's Profile (which was meant for a MacBook anyways not an iMac) to Colour LCD on my 20" Aluminium, I could not believe how dark David's Profile is. I have seen some 20" Aluminium iMac colour profiles but like 95% of them are for 96CA panel not 96CB (which I have). Does anybody have good colour calibration profiles for the 9C6B panel?

Nov 3, 2008I did this for the Macbook Pro's a while back, but I'm a Macbook guy now. There are a few other threads with profiles but it's no good if you use a profile made from a different panel than what you have. I'm just trying to consolidate things here.
I will try to keep this post current; please only submit profiles created from hardware, not those done by human eye (meatware?) And be sure to say which panel the profile is for. Thanks to everyone for contributing and improving the Macbook experience!

OS X :: Colour Profiles - Imac To External Monitor
May 2, 2009I have just bought an external monitor to make a dual screen set up with my imac. So for the first time I am looking at the colour profiles. Would I be right in thinking that if I select profile "sRGB" on the external and "sRGB IEC61966-2.1" on the iMac then when I have the two screens side by side, the colours will match? I have using the Apple 'iMac' profile for two years and anything else just looks strange. What is the 'true' colour or is it just a matter of opinion? Which profile is nearest to real life?

Jan 29, 2008I screwed up. Or I'm too poor to do things right. I bought a Dell E178WFP, 17" 1440 x 900 @ 60 Hz, 32-bit color external flatscreen. And I live in Egypt and can't take it back. I should have bought an Apple cinema display, but it would have been five or six times the price. The problem is its colour profile. I set it the same as my powerbook, to LCD Color, but it still looks like a PC screen, and I hate that. One of the reasons I love mac is the subtlety of the colour of the screen; it is calm and has depth, unlike PCs which always look garish and brash to my eye.
Is there anything I can do? I explored the color settings, but so far can find no way to actually set the external screen in a way that it renders like the main screen of the powerbook. Ideally, I'd have them both near enough the same. Theoretically, this should be possible, no? Given that I'm running the external off my mac, and that it's a simple LCD that can render millions of colours...........
Hardware :: Monitor Calibration/adjusting Color Profiles?
Jan 20, 2009I've been trying to get decent color on my Acer AL2216W display to no avail.
First, I attempted to fiddle with the brightness and contrast levels because I've been having trouble seeing really light grays. I used this as a guide so my whites, grays, and blacks looked good but then my colors were completely off.

Then, (after resetting all my changes) I downloaded a color profile from the Acer support website. Surprisingly, that profile is completely off.
Next, I tried using Mac OS X's Color Calibration utility in System Pref > Displays > Color > Calibrate. I ended up with incorrect colors & grays again.
Am I doing something wrong? Could someone please direct me about how to achieve proper colors and contrast?
Also, if any of you have an Acer AL2216W and you have made a correct color profile, please pass it along!

Power Mac :: Colour On Screen Changed To An Orange Distorted Colour
Apr 8, 2012New to using Mac's... this is an older desktop but I haven't had any issues with it yet. I went on to use it and the colour was a yellow/orange looking colour and it changes the way pictures and text look on the computer. Is there a way I can troubleshoot this problem or is it something to do with the monitor itself?

I owned a core i5 mbp, it would get fairly hot when using compressor or demanding tasks (80-85 degrees), I gave that computrer to my bro and am planning on getting an i7, does it get any hotter? It is a re-branded NVIDIA chip and so is it included or excluded?
I for one will be greatly disappointed in Apple does not support it. It is one thing that my ageing powerbook will not be supported, but a computer that was top of the line iMac just in April of this year!
MacBook Pro :: Randomly Changing Color Profiles?
Feb 8, 2010Sometimes my MBP will randomly "forget" it's color profile after waking up from sleep or screensaver. It doesn't happen very often, maybe less than once a month now. I know a few other people have had this problem, and as far as I know the issue is unresolved, with the solution being "go into display settings and it will change back" but there was nothing that could be done to prevent it from changing.

Apr 5, 2012I have a macbook air. It is an awesome laptop but when i print it prints in black and white. It used to print in colour but now it doesnt. I might of accidently clicked something. I checked and it prints in colour from my other computer (but that doesnt have the right software to print off pages and word 2011).

Aug 23, 2014I have a late iMac 2013 and have had problems since day one and always just assumed it was bad RAM as i upgraded to 16GB, from 8. I finally took the RAM i purchased out and have left the original RAM in and still continually get the below error after restart.
I have removed Kasperky via the Kaspersky removal tool but i notice it still references it below? Unusually it seems to be ridiculously unstable when i am downloading any Movies i have purchased from iTunes (the current movie has crashed 4 or 5 times today) or if i am ripping a DVD i have purchased using iSkysoft. I have started in safe mode but that made no difference, i actually think it has gotten worse since i removed the extra RAM.

MacBook Pro :: RGB Colour Output Format Via HDMI/DP?
Apr 21, 2012So i just bought a Dell u2410 screen the other day, and decided to hook it up via HDMI, It's being used for photo-editing, I tried to calibrate it, but in the sRGB mode i need to use the colours come out terrible, Reds are orange, etc. The screen itself, and it's settings arn't the problem. The problem is the Colour output of the MacBook, over HDMI and DisplayPort I've found it outputs the old YPbPr colour format, which for me is useless. if i connect it via VGA it'll output proper RGB colour format, but VGA is pretty crappy, and i ideally need to use a Digital output, I've searched all over the net for a solution, but haven't found one. one thing i did find is it will supposedly output RGB over DVI, but alas i don't have a DVI cable and do not wish to have to buy one...so what i want to know, is it possible to change the output colour format for HDMI and DisplayPort to RGB instead of YPbPr? Note 1: If i boot into Win7 via BootCamp it outputs RGB and has the option for YPbPr... Note 2: It isn't the ICC colour profile that's the problem.
