View 4 Repliesuse this thread to post your MacBook Air colour calibration profiles. I am sure a lot of people would like to try some profiles on their MacBook Airs'.

View 10 Replies View RelatedAfter switching from David's Profile (which was meant for a MacBook anyways not an iMac) to Colour LCD on my 20" Aluminium, I could not believe how dark David's Profile is. I have seen some 20" Aluminium iMac colour profiles but like 95% of them are for 96CA panel not 96CB (which I have). Does anybody have good colour calibration profiles for the 9C6B panel?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did this for the Macbook Pro's a while back, but I'm a Macbook guy now. There are a few other threads with profiles but it's no good if you use a profile made from a different panel than what you have. I'm just trying to consolidate things here.
I will try to keep this post current; please only submit profiles created from hardware, not those done by human eye (meatware?) And be sure to say which panel the profile is for. Thanks to everyone for contributing and improving the Macbook experience!
How to determine your panel type/code
How to install and use color profiles
Basic tests to determine if a profile is a good fit:

White level

I have just bought an external monitor to make a dual screen set up with my imac. So for the first time I am looking at the colour profiles. Would I be right in thinking that if I select profile "sRGB" on the external and "sRGB IEC61966-2.1" on the iMac then when I have the two screens side by side, the colours will match? I have using the Apple 'iMac' profile for two years and anything else just looks strange. What is the 'true' colour or is it just a matter of opinion? Which profile is nearest to real life?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI screwed up. Or I'm too poor to do things right. I bought a Dell E178WFP, 17" 1440 x 900 @ 60 Hz, 32-bit color external flatscreen. And I live in Egypt and can't take it back. I should have bought an Apple cinema display, but it would have been five or six times the price. The problem is its colour profile. I set it the same as my powerbook, to LCD Color, but it still looks like a PC screen, and I hate that. One of the reasons I love mac is the subtlety of the colour of the screen; it is calm and has depth, unlike PCs which always look garish and brash to my eye.
Is there anything I can do? I explored the color settings, but so far can find no way to actually set the external screen in a way that it renders like the main screen of the powerbook. Ideally, I'd have them both near enough the same. Theoretically, this should be possible, no? Given that I'm running the external off my mac, and that it's a simple LCD that can render millions of colours...........
I've been trying to get decent color on my Acer AL2216W display to no avail.
First, I attempted to fiddle with the brightness and contrast levels because I've been having trouble seeing really light grays. I used this as a guide so my whites, grays, and blacks looked good but then my colors were completely off.

Then, (after resetting all my changes) I downloaded a color profile from the Acer support website. Surprisingly, that profile is completely off.
Next, I tried using Mac OS X's Color Calibration utility in System Pref > Displays > Color > Calibrate. I ended up with incorrect colors & grays again.
Am I doing something wrong? Could someone please direct me about how to achieve proper colors and contrast?
Also, if any of you have an Acer AL2216W and you have made a correct color profile, please pass it along!
My screen went high-contrast. color profiles and calibration didn't work well - HOWEVER-It looks fine right before I log in! Is there a way to repair the color profiles or whatever? I Installed Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements a couple weeks ago that's when I think it began

My wife & I share a Mac and each have our own profiles. We want to be able to share our iCal but we don't want to share bookmarks in Safari. If I correctly understand how iClowd works, we could use different Apple IDs and our bookmarks wouldn't share but we could't share calendars with this set up. If we use a shared Apple ID, we can share calendars but are bookmarks are also shared. Is there some way to share calendars but not bookmarks?

New to using Mac's... this is an older desktop but I haven't had any issues with it yet. I went on to use it and the colour was a yellow/orange looking colour and it changes the way pictures and text look on the computer. Is there a way I can troubleshoot this problem or is it something to do with the monitor itself?

Got 4 days before my time is up with Best Buy (geek squad is beat, but that accident coverage looks good). I was leaning towards apple.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI got Apple Care at the same time as I bought my 2010 Macbook Pro (at an Apple Store). First of all, I did not get an Apple Care box - just a receipt with the agreement number and other Apple Care particulars. Is this normal?
Second, I read somewhere that you need to register Apple Care?? The Apple Store sales rep did not say anything about registration. So do I still need to register - or is it only for people who buy Apple Care separately from the hardware? And if I do have to register, how do I go about it?
How do i get my apple care set up on my macbook pro when i cant scan or fax my proof of purchase away to apple??

I just got the 2.13ghz 128gbSSD off of ebay (fnjjor a great deal!). Just arrived today and everything looks great - works great etc. I wanted to see the age of my mba and when I entered the SN into the apple support site - it says that apple needs proof of purchase that whole deal. Well I don't have a legitimate proof of purchase from an authorized site (need to ask the seller), but the MBA is 11 months old according to coconut battery.
1. Should I even get applecare? Hinges can be replaced out of warranty, and I have an SSD that is failsafe. Any other issue would probably be my own fault.
2. I should be ok purchasing apple care through the customer support number yes? I think I did that for a powerbook and was able to buy apple care for it (a 12" G4 no less!)
First I would like to say hello to everyone and soon I will (finally) enter the Mac world. I've been a 50-50 type of guy (Apple/Microsoft) and I had the majority of the multimedia Apple products without actual Macs though. I was tempted to buy a MacBook before but I always wanted something sleek, sexy yet with a good sauce of performance since I am not a heavy usage type of guy and for gaming I will be getting a 360 Slim later on. Finally that day has come and I will be buying the ultimate 11". Question is, is it worth the extended Apple Care plan? I searched for answers on the official Apple site, googled up for a couple of days but I didn't find exactly what I wanted. Does it cover (for example) accidental damage? Or what are the real advantages of having an extended Apple Care plan? Since it will be my first Mac I will want to take extra care with it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy apple care ran out over a month ago and they still covered a video card problem in my Mbp. Anyone else get repairs done after coverage expired? I was having an aweful time trying to figure out why I couldn't get a good calibration when running external monitors. The card seemed to be working, but I guess whenbutvwas put under stress it failed. My mbp is at apple getting a new logic board, can't imagine what that costs. Plus my 30" cinema is getting a new hinge that would not tighten properly. Apple care is definitely worth it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have purchased a Macbook Pro back in August of 09. I didn't intend to move back to Europe, but it happened. I have been sorta reluctant to buy Apple Care back. However in the lights of what recently happened in my daily life, I may use Apple Care for my uMBP. I would like to know if this is possible to buy Apple Care Protection plan for a machine purchased in the States. I know the terms applied are global, but I have my reserves as to buying AC outside of the country/region where the purchase as occured.

Got the Applecare and all has been good until recently.Recently I have noticed some "stage lights" showing on my screen. It looks like a string of lights coming from the bottom of my screen and fading away the further up the screen they progress.

My service battery warning has come on, and that obviously means a new batter, but i don't want/can't pay for a new battery. Would that be covered under my apple care?

I run 4 different screen profiles depending on whether I'm at home or work both day and night. Does anyone else use multiple color profiles depending on where you're computer is?
View 3 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has a black MacBook and it stopped working. When I switch it on there is just a grey screen with the Apple "doing" but then nothing happens. I tried some key combination to reset the NVRAM but it didn't help. The MB was purchased around 2 years ago with the Apple Care extension of + 2 years so it still should be covered by Apple Care. My questions concerns the Apple Care since I don't know how it works: - my friend says that he just bought the Apple Care extension when he ordered the MB and that"s all. Does it need to be somehow "activated" so that the MB is covered ? He has the Apple Care box but he never opened it. - Does he need the MB order bill to make Apple Care work ? - The MB was purchased in France but he's now in Germany. Can we just bring it to a Apple store here?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was just looking at the apple care prices for my macbook (2.0ghz aluminum) and it is $183. I am looking in the educational store, not sure if that has a discount or not. The macbook pro apple care is $239. So all the people that get the 13" mbp that came out this week now have to shell out an additional $56 just because it says "pro" on the label?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOut of curiosity, any reason not to purchase the Apple Care? I know that many people purchase this as an add-on because they want security with their device. I have always been a PC person and have built my super computer and of course, know enough to correct, repair my computer. I'm not saying that I won't know how to repair my MacBook but it seems like Apple Care does a lot more which justifies the cost and purchase. The question is, what is that "extra" benefit or is the hype still just from people who don't know anything about computing and or other reasons. Help me if I'm missing anything here.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am going to buy my first mac when they release the arrandale MBPs. I will get the 13", I was wondering about applecare, lets say I cracked my screen on the corner and I can see everything else fine, but not the corner, how would they fix it? Send me a new one, or change the screen? I guess, what I am trying to ask is, if I break it, but it is still usable; will they replace it or fix the broken part?
View 8 Replies View Relateddifference between model #s MA519LL/A and MD014LL/A. Both would seem to be usable for a MBA 13. I'm guessing the MA519LL/A is an older model; but wonder if it is still valid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes my MBP will randomly "forget" it's color profile after waking up from sleep or screensaver. It doesn't happen very often, maybe less than once a month now. I know a few other people have had this problem, and as far as I know the issue is unresolved, with the solution being "go into display settings and it will change back" but there was nothing that could be done to prevent it from changing.
