MacBook Air :: Can't Join WiFi Networks
Jun 26, 2014
My MacBook Air (2013 model, 1.3 Ghz Intel Core i5, 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3, OS X Version 10.9.2) which I received less than a week ago was working fine. Until last night. My latop will now not connect to ANY wifi networks. It's sees the networks but when I try to manually join one it says "The wifi network ... could not be joined" when I then run diagnostics it says "Wifi not associated" and "review wifi best practices".

There are several wi-fi networks here to choose from but whenever i select on, type in the passoword, the "join" button is un-clickable! How can i 'join' a network when the 'join' button is not clickable? how the heck do i fix this?!

It's the strangest thing, my wife's MBA (v1) will randomly refuse to connect to our home wifi network (cast by a 500GB Time Capsule). What seems to be happening is that it will connect then disconnect at bootup, it will say no preferred networks are available (when the home network has been configured!) and refuse to assign an IP address to the MBA. If I manually select the home network from the wifi icon, it will diplay security password, and then say this is invalid (when it is perfectly valid and the one used by my own MBP and iPhone)... this seems to happen only on our home network, any other works fine...My own MBP is fine. This is driving me crazy and I haven't found anything on the web on this.

Even though I have my router in preferred network list, my MBA still asks me to select a network to join. It says that none of my preferred network is in range, and only shows my router after I "refresh" the list by clicking on the airport icon. My UMBP connect to my network fine. Is there any way to also make my MBA connect to the network automatically?

If my wifi isn't turned on, my MBP chucks-up a warning saying none of my networks are available. So I close the box and turn on my wifi. My iPhone will then, without any further input, connect to my wifi.So why does my 1600 MacBook Pro need me to reselect it from my wifi list? Why can't it just see it and connect to it?!

I have no trouble using WiFi at home. But when I connect my new MacBook Pro to WiFi networks at cafes, airports, and hotels, I can connect and a page or two will load without a problem. But a minute or two later, the WiFi signal appears to be fine but no pages will load and e-mail messages can't be sent or received. Â
If I turn WiFi off and reconnect to the same network, I can load another page or two and then it quits working. I don't have this problem when connecting to the same networks on my iPhone, so I'm assuming there's a problem with my computer or its settings. Â

I made the mistake of upgrading (funny word for what I got) to Lion, and ever since, I've had numerous issues with my trusty MacBookPro (2008, 2.4 ghz, 17"). The latest problem has been severly annoying though, and I just would like to see if any of you have some tips I could try out. Basically, every single time I close down the lid to put my computer to sleep, or even after it goes to sleep on it's own, when I go to wake my computer, it no longer is connected to my wi-fi network, and for a period of 2-5 minutes, is acts like it is searching for networks. When this exercise is over, I can use the pull down menu brought up by clicking on the wifi icon to select my network and the computer re-connects. I saw that Apple released an update for 2011 MacBookPro's that had this same issue, and this made the problem even more irritating to me since they failed to address those of us who have older computers that have the same issue. I have tried erasing all known network in the network preferences window using the plus and minus buttons, and then re-adding my network. That didn't work.

I just installed a new AirPort card into my 2006 Mac Pro and it showed up just fine and I was looking forward to getting it online without using iPhone-tethering. BUT, I just can't get it to find any networks? What might be the problem? I've googled, rebooted, updated my drivers etc etc.

This is a problem I've been having for months on and off. Apple won't help (because, of course, it doesn't happen when it's in front of an Apple Genius).
But perhaps MR can help. Simple question: what could be causing my MBP to lose connection to my wifi and then not be able to find ANY wifi networks in my area (of which there are usually about a dozen)?
I've attached two images - on the right is what happens when it loses connection and then simply won't find anything.

I have an apple airport (age unknown), but it is one that looks like a mushroom cap. I have a network set up in WPA2 format. A nintendo DS user wishes to connect to wifi, but requires a WEP set up. Can I run both kinds of network or must a switch back and forth (since I like WPA2 more)?

Recently searched the history of my iMac to see just what was loaded into the system. What I found was that there were 3 different WI-FI networks on my iMac and I would like to know just what they belong to? One is called "Orangecat", another is "wildchild" and the last one is also "wildchild-guest". What these accounts are associated with and if they are part of the internal configuration of my iMac?

I travel a bunch. and when I open my computer to type a document or something, I don't need to waste time searching for a wifi network. and I certainly don't wanna tell 10.6 every time: "cancel -- don't pick one of these strange wifi locked networks" any one know how to stop 10.6 from nagging me about joining some strange network every time I wake the computer from sleep in a strange place?

I have one mcbook pro running on Lion.
I am using at work a wifi connection that requires fixed ip and specific proxy.
When i go home, i am using another wifi network, so every day i have to change the advanced network settings of my mac.
Is there any way to attribute different advanced settings for each network and save it, so it will be changed automatically?

I just bought and correctly installed a working airport card to my iBook G3 (M6497) I checked and the card is being recognized and says it's on. However, it can not find any wireless networks automatically. I tried entering the name of my network manually, but it says "There was an error joining the AirPort network "NameofNetwork"." "Try again" "OK" The router doesn't have any security on it and it is compatible with 802.11b. I bought this iBook from a friend who says he could never get an airport card he bought a while back to work either.

I recently purchased a new MacBook pro with Mac OS X, I updated the OS to the latest release which is 10.7.3. I need to join (bind) a MS Windows server 2008 Domain, but when I try to bind I get below error:
Unable to add server.
The daemon encountered an error processing request (10002)
I searched the internet for a solution; most suggestions refer to sync the clock with the domain clock as Kerberos protocol is unable to authenticate. I cannot find a option to sync the clock with the domain clock, how I do that?

I've been having lots of problems with my network lately I had to reset it. But since then my Macbook will not remember it as a preferred network. (At least I think thats what the problem is.) When I open the lid my computer wakes up and then I get the popup message (look at picture 1) then I have to click on my network which is called linda. Then my the space to write my password is already filled (see picture 2), I have to click JOIN and only then I can go online. But I've had to do these steps at least 10 times a day for the past month and now im sick of it!

I'm having a bit of a nightmare with connecting to any wireless networks on my MacBook. If I click on airport in the menu bar there are no wireless networks listed - it's not finding any. Even in locations where I know there to be a wireless network that I've joined before (work, home, at a friends house) Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this or is it a straight visit to the apple store?

I'm using a Macbook Pro 17" 5,1 w/ Snow Leopard. For some reason I'm unable to get an internet connection from certain wireless networks. For instance I was away on vacation and when I returned I was no longer able to get internet access through my work's wireless network but I am able to connect and get internet access from my home network and others with no issues. Â
I've tried removing the stored networks, renewing DHCP, reseting the router and everything else I can think of. Â I am able to connect to the router, but the indicator light for internet shows red. My coworker on a similar Macbook is able to connect and get internet from the same network just fine.Â
When looking at the control panel on the router its showing that his Macbook is being assigned a dynamic IP but mine is being assigned a static IP but there isn't any way to control this through the router and since nothing has been changed in terms of the router's configuration I have to assume its something to do with my Macbook as I'm having similar issues with other networks I used to be able to connect to as well. Since I'm able to get online using certain other wireless networks its bloody well confusing.Â

My mother had a bunch of old family documents (some dating back to 1859) that I wanted to scan in when I visited her last time. The scanner she had was not a scanner that was long enough for legal size documents so I had to scan the top and then scan the bottom of the document. They were placed into two separate files. My question is how can I join the two documents together? I know that I can use preview to combine the two separate files into one but I have a need to "attach" the second document to the end of the first one so that it appears that they were originally scanned as one document? Is this possible? Am I looking at an expensive software purchase?

One day I noticed that my Macbook was having trouble find ANY networks available (despite knowing that many were available) - it doesn't see any. Occasionally the Airport will pick up a network or two with extremely low signal strength (even if the wireless router is in the same room) but usually has issues connecting and eventually the network disappears from Airport. At first I thought my Airport had totally crapped out and so I had to go out and spend $100 on a third party USB wifi stick (there are very few companies who make these for Mac, but for PC they can run for $15 ).
Now the crappy design of this USB wifi stick I purchased has caused the USB head to become bent and is ultimately deteriorating. SO, recently I noticed that when I use Bootcamp to run Windows 7 on my Macbook, Win7 is able to fully use my built in Airport hardware and receives great signal - so now I'm thinking that it may not be a hardware problem at all.
