I have a macbook pro 15, core 2 duo processor, 140 GB hard drive that is almost full.I shut it down last night & now it won't power up. Hear fan but no startup sound, no video, power light is not lit.Would the almost full hard drive (less than 8 GB remaining) interfere with startup?

1st problem was IMac running slow. Shut down and unplugged several times with no correction. Eventually, shut down, unplug and reboot resulted in wallpaper background eventually coming on screen but no icons. Nothing after that.

I'm new to this crap and doesn't know if what I am looking for exists. So here we go...
I am looking for a web based Project Management System that is suitable for corporate environment (although I doesn't know what that is but I'm assuming it will be something like social/collaboration tool or like a Wiki or blog even something like Microsoft SharePoint). Basically, it will appear to be a database to process and store document. I need the functionality to content out as PDF and XML. I need functionality to share Microsoft Entourage calender. I also need the functionality to draw Mind Mapping.
Every time I restart my iMac, my desktop wallpaper reverts back to the default and my mouse configuration is reset so the buttons no longer do what I demand of them (Button4: Expose, I say!)
It seems to be just those two issues but it happens pretty much every time the system shuts down (although not every single time). Energy saving is fine. My dock is fine. Nothing else seems to be touched.
I've reset the PRAM. I've deleted the system preferences file from the library (com.apple.systempreferences...). I've repaired permissions.
I still have this problem.
Any ideas or solutions, aside from reinstalling OS X or not restarting my iMac ever?
I should mention that I'm running 10.5.5 on an Aluminum 2.0 Core 2 Duo Intel iMac. My system is all-natural. No fancy hacks or system modification programs installed here.
I am about to sell my current iMac because I have got a new one.
1. I wanted to restore the iMac as new. It originally game with Tiger if I erase the disk, do I have to install tiger, the upgrade to leopard and then upgrade to snow leopard?
2.Is there a way to delete everything except some programs like Photoshop, iLife 09 and iWork?
3.Is there a way to "reset" the iMac so when the buyer turns the computer it starts with the setup and welcome movie?
Man, what's up with this? Shut down on my early 2008 MacPro (10.5.7) takes forever! I've tried resetting the PRAM and it did this with earlier versions of Leopard as well. I've reinstalled the OS twice, changed hard drives and wish I could fix this.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI was given a mac book that wouldn't show anything on screen, apple said it had bad logic board. I fixed that by torching the gpu die, and everything is perfect. Except the computer will not charge that battery, says battery 0% "not charging". I tried all the usual, so does anyone know exactly were the smc controller is on the motherboard? I have some ideas And all the cables from the mag safe connecter to the battery, appear good.
View 8 Replies View Related I'm a long-time Mac owner (this is my 4th) but new to Mac forums. I'm making the transition from playing action type games on a console system to playing games on my Mac (Madden, Call of Duty, etc). It sucks playing them without some kind of controller and I am looking hard at what's out there.
I have a MacBook Pro, 17", 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 processor, and 8 GB 1067MHz DDR3 memory.
So what are the best controllers that are currently available? Or would I be better served to wait a couple of months for something due out any time? I don't want to wait forever and I know that there will always be something better coming out, but if there is something revolutionary coming soon, I'd wait.
I have a usb midi controller (vestax spin to be exact) and my mbp doesn't seem to recognize it but I know it's on because of the power light, what can I do? Also sometimes I get a message to power down my computer or restart.

I recently purchased a SteelSeries GC3 controller mainly to use for playing emulator games (Dolphin Emulator) on my Macbook Pro (Retina). However, after hours of trying to get the controller to work I have had no success. When I plug it into my computer it lights up showing that the computer recognizes it but it won't recognize it on any program. Well actually, the first time I plugged it in it was able to recognize the buttons when programming their commands for the emulator but never worked in the actual game itself. Now it wont even recognize when programming.

Just found this when I was browsing through some stuff. That's the controller that can be found from Toshiba HG2 SSDs that are used in at least 2010 MBPs. Here's a pic of the MBA's SSD:Original pic by iFixit (full size)As you can see, both are using Toshiba's T6UG1XBG Solid State Drive controller

View 18 Replies View RelatedI had a MacBook for about a year now and a few weeks ago I started having problems with videos from online (ex. YouTube). They would start loading and stop, on and off. It would load about 2-3 seconds of video every few minutes. So I reset safari and everything, that didn't help. Anyway, I got a MacBook pro last week, and I transferred everything from my MacBook to the MacBook pro via ethernet cable. I am not experiencing this problem on the MacBook pro since the transfer. I reset safari again, no help. Have had friends use their computers on my wifi network, they all work fine. My speeds are over 10mbps. So my question, I don't want to erase all of my data, as I have no means to backup my iTunes library which is huge and all my documents and such. Is there a way to go back to factory settings though? Like should I reinstall the OS without erasing my data?

The problem is that when i connect it to right USB port it works flawlessly, but when i connect it to my left USB port - my macbook pro recognizes the device but it doesn't send any midi data - to put it in other way: it is not working.
I have checked, everything is working fine In the LEFT usb port( wireless mouse, external HDD, Flash drives, Iphone) except my MIDI Keyboard.

The problem is that when the user logs on, when they set all their display preferences, mouse setting etc once they log off and back on again the settings are back to normal.
Can anyone shed any light on what I need to do to make the prefs stick for each user
