Jun 5, 2014OS 10.9.3. This morning the Finder keyboard shortcut Command-W stopped closing windows and instead opened a folder burried fairly deeply in my Home folder. I moved that folder and managed to get Command-W to stop opening it, but it will still NOT close a window in Finder. Nor will it close windows in applications. What does happne is that the frame of the window flashes (but it remains open).

I apply the rule, & it does nothing. I highlight the email itself in the inbox column, right-click and select "apply rule" and absolutely nothing happens. It moves nothing, anywhere.

Sep 7, 2014I use IMAP accounts and not exactly sure why I should use iCloud for Mail. I don't need my messages sync'd since IMAP already handles that. Will iCloud Mail disregard my messages in this case?
I have two Macs and multiple iOS devices. I've been trying to understand the benefits of using Mail in iCloud. It seems it will push rules, smart mailboxes and folders to all your devices. That would be a nice benefit. I'm just concerned what it will do to my messages. I have local folders that are listed "ON MY MAC" on my Macbook Pro. Will those get pushed to my iMac and vice versa?

Aug 22, 2014I had some spotlight issues and the index was successfully rebuilt. Mail however, still has a disabled search functionality. If I enter a term in the upper right search field no results appear. Rebooting and restoring Mail don't work. Mail is not excluded in the system prefs spotlight settings.

Jun 3, 2014 I upgraded my MacBook Pro quad core 2.5 from Lion to Mavericks. Since then I get a LOT of beachballs when I'm using Finder. I repaired permissions, deleted com.apple.finder.plist (twice) and finally reinstalled Mavericks over the first one. Still painfully slow and lots of beachballs.

If I try to start the videochat, it pops up with an error. This is only a recent issue.

Mails are automatically getting deleted every day, sometimes every few minutes. I have to restart the computer to again download the mails. The mails only get deleted from my computer and not the exchange. Also, would like to inform my MAC pro book got infected with Trojan.gen.2 virus. Which I discovered with Nortons antivirus software. I installed this software as I doubted if my mails are getting deleted owing some virus. Although my MAC is free of virus, the issue with one exchange mail remains and emails still gets deleted.

Aug 22, 2014I have a western digital hard drive that had previously been working flawlessly on Lion, however when using it with Mavericks it had suddenly stopped working meaning it would no longer be found on the desktop or in finder. I have been using the hard drive as a time machine backup. the obvious next step was to launch disk utility and look for a solution. I have found there two hard drive names in disk utility, the first is the HDD name of Western Digital and the second is the "Time Machine" partition. Running first aid on the partition resulted in an error and that the disk could not be repaired. This HDD is important and the data cannot be lost.

Nov 18, 2009one day i open my mac, the right side of the screen where i use to have some folders the i create is gone and the applications or the finder is not open. the top of the screen have the apple sign, Finder, file, edit and view all of the thing on the top of the desktop, it appear something and disappear and like appear and disappear every ten sec. but all other stuff work from the dock, and i can see all the file or the folders the disappear on the parallels desktop, just not on the mac.

(Title, Artist, Album, etc.) I have an extensive library of music (600+ GB) and sometimes I'm working with multiple external drives. I'm also constantly adding to the collection as I get new music. Being able to see all of this data in the OS window makes managing the music on multiple drives much easier. We're talking about folders with 1000's of songs in them. I don't want to have to set up mutiple iTunes libraries for each external drive and deal with the headache of switching back and forth between them.
