How do I export pictures from Mac Book Air to a Hitachi external hard drive. I have used the export function from i-photo but it will not transfer. However, when I use the export function to put the pictures onto a 4g usb stick it works?

How do I move my iphoto picture library to an external drive and delete from my HD and then access through iphoto? I lost my iphoto library so I have everything in Masters on my HD. When I import to iphoto, it groups all the photos and sates into various events. Is there a way to get my organization back or is it another manual process? Also, I can't import all my photos because there is not enough space?

Today I was transferring files from my unibody Macbook Pro over to my 1TB 7200RPM SATA 3.0 Gb/s Hitachi external hard drive. The files were almost transferred when I accidently knocked the drive off of my bed and onto the carpet floor which disconnected the drive's USB cable from my laptop.
Now when I turn the drive on it continuously clicks and beeps and my macbook won't recognize it. I found this video on youtube and it shows exactly what my external drive is doing.

I have a ton of important data on this drive and I really don't want to lose it. What should I do? Could I take the drive to my nearby Apple Store?
Wanted to know if it was possible to save pictures in iPhoto to an external HD. Same question when using GarageBand/Logic. What I am trying to achieve is to move my Aperture library to an external HD. and clone it to a second drive and backup the laptop with Time Machine. After the next session I would again clone the 1st drive and rely on TM to continue to backup the LT.

I was one vacation for 6 weeks and I was the only one that had a computer so we put all pictures on it. Long story short. When my dad tried attaching his external drive IPhoto wouldn't let him copy the pictures and Os X didn't read the flash drive he gave me to try. Another piece of information that might help is, that my laptop is the only Mac in my family, everything else is windows.

I think it messed up the uploading, exporting, importing, and viewing of my pictures. I can upload them to the computer fine, but when I go to export or view them in iPhoto, all I get is a black screen. Exporting, and it tells me unable to create "users/(friends name)/documents/" I don't want to lose my pictures. I've already tried to rebuild the library with iPhoto Manager and with iPhoto itself.

I am trying to export a 10 minute slideshow that i have created on iPhoto.I am trying to put this onto a memory stick as it is being projected onto a wall in a performance i am doing.At the moment it is telling me that there is not enough room on my memory stick, altough there is a lot of free space so does this mean the slideshow has to be compressed?Also i am exporting it onto my desktop and its taking a really long time is this normal?

I just installed a new Hitachi 500gb that replaced my old Hitachi 120gb. My hard drive was replaced about 1 1/2 years ago at the apple store. Now that it has died i was told to order a new hard drive less than 1 terribite (i know it's misspelled). I replaced it and pressed alt at boot and the disc appeared and I clicked it...selected ENGLISH and then went next...was ask to select where do i want this to info installed but it had nothing for me to select. it's obvious it's not recognizing my new hard drive. I can't go any further. Then when I select installer from the menu and select start up disc it shows an X on my MAC OX S installation disc 1??Could this be because when they gave me a new hard drive they used their discs...I don't know... I really don't wanna go BACK to the MAC store..

When I create an event on iPhoto I usually tag the photos...When I export them to a new folder on my desktop or whatever other external support, my tags are not kept but instead replaced by the original name of my picture (i.e IMG_45, etc...) How can I keep the tags on?

I recently got an imac, and I am new to the the mac world but decided I loved my iphone how bad could a mac be? I have recently bought a new MacBook. I initially thought it would be better to run iPhoto from the external hard drive, but after moving some things around I now want to run it straight from the MacBoook hard drive.
I tried copying the library from the external hard drive to the MacBook but I keep getting the following message....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a Seagate 500GB external hard drive recently. I'm looking to delete files from my Mac after I back them up on the external hard drive. I tested this with one picture and after I deleted the picture then backed up the hard drive, the hard drive 'erased' the picture. I did talk to Seagate and the guy said it wasn't actually erased, it just went into history. (Although I can't find history and forgot to ask :/)
So, my question is - How can I put files on the external hard drive then delete them from my Mac and when I later back up my computer, keep the files on my external hard drive that were previously deleted from my computer. I know the files will be in history but I'd like for all of them to be in one place instead of searching through history for maybe one file here and there. I hope this makes sense!!! (I have Leopard OS)
