I had a very important file witch I had a password on. A .dmg file with password made in disk utility. Then i did manage to delete it from my Mac. I used Data Rescue 2 and got the .dmg file back.. But it had changed the name to D-00005.dmg istead of Private.dmg ( can not remember exactly what the file was named first )
The number one reason I know this must be the file is that it was 100mb. I only made one file with dmg file with 100mb. I remember the password, but it never ask for it when i try to open it. I`ll just get a message that it cant be open. If someone has a answere for me that can help me get what is in that .dmg file back I will transfer 50 usd on your fulltilt poker account.
In mac we have option to delete items securely from trash, while deleting it warns that: once deleted items will not be recovered. I want to know that is there any way by which items deleted "normally, (not securely)" from "Trash" can be recovered?

I was having a lot of pictures taken by photobooth and once I had gone to all images present in the finder and I deleted all the pictures from there thinking that they will not be removed from photobooth but all the pictures deleted.
I moved them to iphoto software but they are also unavailable but there is a small photo and when I copy and paste it to my desktop, it says this file is deleted and no longer available and I have emptied the trash too.
If deleted files and photos even from the bin, is it possible in anyway to take them back without any cost issues?Â

I was inserting photos into my document (due Friday) and somehow the work was deleted. I didn't back it up before inserting (never had trouble inserting before). It somehow saved it under the file name but also, somehow I got the original version back. How can I retrieve what was done prior to inserting the last two photos that stole my work? Does this thing autosave? (I'm really new to this from a PC). It never asked me if I wanted to save or delete so I had no warning! It just disappeared!
View 6 Replies View RelatedLast night I was in the process of backing up my files because my Mac has so much on it, I was transferring older stuff to my external hard drive to open up some space. In the process my computer started acting slow. So I thought I deleted the photos I had already transferred over, instead I deleted all Of my photos from 08-09. They aren't in the the trash can because I emptied it right there...trying to get more space.
Please, is there any way I can recover those files?
I downloaded a program last night, and thought it was free, but once it was done finding all my pictures, it asked for a registration code in order to actually save the photos. I don't have the money to spend a hundred dollars on a program.
My sister in law was viewing photos in iPhoto. Somehow they got deleted. She said she didn't hit anything...

I copied some photos of my daughter's wedding to a disc. The disc was somehow erased on the way to her how through the mail...and the process of copying to a disc removed them from my computer. Is there anyway to retrieve these photos?

I have deleted all my photos from iPhone 4 but iTunes still shows that I have 981 photos taking up 1.75GB of space. The reason for my deleting the photos, after I moved them to the cloud, was to save space.
Is this an iTunes error?
Backed up my macbook air using time machine to my time capsule. Then went into iphoto and backed up pictures just to make sure. (They are all the pictures of my 6 and 2 year old since birth, very important to me). Opened time machine to make sure that my pictures had backed up, they were there and I figure everything is good.
I install Snow Leopard and after rebooting all pictures are gone. My iphoto library is gone. I went from 49.68 gig of used storage space on my hard drive pre-Snow Leopard to 17.92 gig of used storage space on my hard drive after installing Snow Leopard. I get kind of hacked off but figure there is no big deal since I know that my photos are in my Time Capsule. I go into time machine and there are 0 jpegs, 0 iphoto libraries and no pictures of any kind other than icons.
I freak the heck out and just plain don't understand. I call Apple 2 hours on the phone yesterday and 2.5 hours on the phone today and I am told that it is a problem being passed onto the engineering department and that they will get back to me but most likely the photos are gone and they are sorry. 3500 photos of my children's lives eaten by the dang Snow Leopard.
This is unacceptable, I did everything right in this instance, backing up my things, even spent the extra money to buy the time capsule, from apple, to make sure my backups went flawlessly. Got an appointment with the Genius Bar at the local retail store for Sunday but I was told today that they will more than likely not be able to help and will just add to the notes on my "Case" with apple.
I have 7,000+ photos in my iPhoto library, many of which have been painstakingly edited. However, when I noticed yesterday that pictures I had deleted (and emptied from the iphoto trash) have reappeared in the library under the relevant 'Events' folder. Why oh why oh why? I have spent six hours already redeleting and editing. Why did this happen? How can I repeat it from happening again? Do I need to "rebuild" my library by holding down the command + option keys when opening iphoto?

I have one large email that keeps multiplying in my recovered messages folder. It shows up over 8000 times and when I get them all deleted, they come right back. I can't find the cache in my computer to remove them. It has taken up all of my hard drive space.

I have a macbook pro with a 750 GB hard disk. This was purchased only recently. Two months ago, it showed a message which said the hard disk was full. This was despite the fact that I had less than 10GB of pictures and music together.
When I spoke to Apple, they said that Yahoo mail tends to create a recovered messages folder, which he helped me locate and delete. This gave me 740Gb back.
It has happened once again. And i cant seem to lopcate this folder. I cannot find Mail folder either having gone through user/library etc.

I'm fairly new to Macs, I just got my Macbook back in March and I haven't had any problems with it until lately. Last week I sent a few very large emails through my mail client which is attached to my gmail account. I'm not sure what happened but while sending them, one in particular, stopped. Now, every time I open mail this email shows up under "On My Mac" under recovered up to 35 times. (Sorry, it's currently 71.) Since it's a huge email it's slowing everything down and making it impossible to use mail. On occasion when I try to delete it my entire mac freezes momentarily. I've tried deleting it in the folder but it always comes up again when I open my mail client and multiplies.
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy macbook has twice now filled up it's memory trying to recover a message on the mail program from two years ago. everytime i turn on the mail program and enter my password, try to sync up my mail to my gmail account it begins recovering one specific email, over and over and over and over eventually filling up my hard drive. i have used disk utility twice to check my permissions and then repair if necessary as well as run the disk repair portion of disk utility. do i have a virus? is there a botnetfly larvae growing under my skin?

I have both my gmail accounts set up with teh Mail app on my Macbook Pro , I went ahead and deletd a bunch of files, some that contain attachements and I emptied the trash, they appear to be gone, not really, if i restart the computer and start up Mail again and click the ALL MAIL box all the emails show up again!! and if i search a phrase or name via Spotlight all the emails show up again! I want the emails gone for good, I went into Mail Prefrerence and checked/unchecled all the necessary tabs, I also checked that I dont want messages saved offline, FYI when I check the email inbox via browser www.google.com / gmail teh emails arent there but they seem to be stored on my mac.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI now have a file in my trash, that I didn't create or move to trash, that is titled "Recovered Files" with sub files titles "Entourage Temp" and "plugtmp". Is this one of the new and amazing features of the 5.6 update?

should i delete them every time i see them in my trash?
I just woke up and noticed that I have a Recovered File in my trash can. It has a "Temp File AAA", ProJlib, Imllib, something else, and another folder containing some quicktime stuff and a bunch of other things. I am not sure what it is as it wasn't there when I went to sleep a few hours ago. I clicked get info and all the stuff says it says last activity was on oct 28 at 5:27 pm. Is this from the daily scripts the mac runs around 3 in the am? I secure emptied the trash already too. Also, Onyx says my weekly and daily scripts were run at 7:15 and 7:30 am....today. Is that normal for them to run just as I turn on my cpu from sleep?
