MacBook Air :: Camera Not Connected Message With PhotoBooth / Skype?
Apr 28, 2012
When I try to take a photo it says the camera is not connected. It used to work with these applications. I did all steps on Apple Support Page [URL] but it still doesn't work.
I have OSX 10.5.8. In the past, I was able to use PhotoBooth, but now when I open it, all options to take a photo are grayed out. The screen, where, I believe, previously I'd seen whatever was in the built-in camera's lens (generally whatever I put in front of the screen to photograph), I now see all black with a white camera icon crossed out. Skype works fine though. When I try to load iChat, it crashes unexpectedly. For clarification, I'm using the built-in cam and do not have external camera hooked up to it. I don't really care about iChat, which I never use, and am very, very glad that Skype, which I do use, is working. However, I would very much like to get PhotoBooth working.

I have a problem with my camera on my 2.66GHz iMac.I was in Sofia (Bulgaria) for three days.I came back and sow that my camera wasn't working and this message appears in photo booth and skype: There is no connected camera .Is this a hardware problem,or a software one and how can I fix it?
I've got the late 2008 Aluminum MacBook.. For some reason the camera stopped working and is not even registering on Photobooth.. I never dropped it badly and there is no real reason for this to stop working.. does anybody know of an easy fix?
My Mac Air till a few days ago till it suddenly started giving me this error: There is no camera connected! I'm neither able to use PhtoBooth nor am I able to use FaceTime?
I bought this iMac G5 on ebay like half a year ago. The camera never worked when I got it. Then today, my sister was telling me to get it fixed. She tried using photobooth. Then idk how many times she launched photo booth then the light turned green! It worked for like a second.. when she moved the monitor, there it is again "the camera-not working icon".
I am an Imac user and learning this new macbook air. I have face time on this and am wondering if I can use skype with the facetime camera of if I need to add a remote web cam? I am not seeing the video function in skype.
Just suddenly stopped. First it wouldn't load on skype, then after restarting it is not available at all, not even on photo booth and other apps that use it.Â
My specs: Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Software OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)
I have a new air book with Lion version 10.7. 3. Skype was working fine but when I called yesterday my camera is not working. I can hear and see my caller and he can hear me but no picture of me.
When I check Skype preferences there is no picture from the camera, yet the little green light is on by the camera. I have reloaded the latest version of skype but still no visuals.Â
I have a 15'' 2010 macbook pro that I've only owned for about a month and a half. At first the isight camera worked great,I used it multiple times for photobooth. But a few weeks ago I tried to used it for skype and noticed it just showed a black screen. I thought maybe the problem was just with skype, but I started checking other programs and it's the same in all of them. The green light is on and it's recognized in system profiler, but the screen is black.
A few days after this happened, the problem seemed to fix itself, but then it went right back to the black screen 2 days later, and had been that way ever since.
I tried resetting the PRAM, but it didn't help. Is there anything else I can do, or is it time to give in and take my macbook to the Apple store?
Under Snow Leopard, my Photo Booth app stopped working for some mysterious reason. I was never able to debug why it would not run. Now, under Lion, after migrating everything over from my old Macbook, Photo Booth STILL won't open, and now I get a peculiar error message: Photo Booth quit unexpectedly while using the Apple_AUBandpass plug-in. This is peculiar, since I don't know why Photo Booth would be accessing audiounits.
I have a MACBOOK PRO (new style) and i am trying to use the built in web cam. However, when I go into photo booth it tells me the camera is not connected. what it is that I am doing wrong? Also , when I go into photo booth the camera goes in and out...stating that camera is not connected.
Any time I open an application like Skype, Facetime, or Photobooth, it tells me my built-in camera is not connected.I've had this Macbook Pro since about October of 2011, and this problem didn't start until last month. Before that, it worked perfectly fine. I've restarted my computer several times with no luck, as well as restarted the applications themselves. I don't know what else to do! I don't want to pay to get it fixed if it's something I can easily fix myself. Should I try resetting my SMC?
My brand new macbook pro was delivered from apple today. All works fine- aside from when I try to use facetime/photo booth it tells me that the camera is not connected. Why the in built camera is not working?
I have Skypes working on my G-5 and have added Macam and a Logic Tech Chat camera. The camera works well on my screen but is not seen by others when I contact them. I just get the small black screen in the Skypes window. Is ther another piece of software I need other than Macam for Skypes connection or.I did get a message on screen that Skypes had connected to my camera.

Upgraded to Lion and now Skype won't recognise the imac camera. "Built in isight" is listed in the video prefrences but the test screen is blank. The Skype calls show a video icon with a cross through it and when I click it it blinks, then stays crossed off.
Camera works in facetime and photobooth (both apps closed down). Have restarted Skype but no change. Skype ok with Macbook Air, iPhone and iPad.
My brand new macbok pro arrived today, everything works fine apart from when i try to open FaceTime/photobooth and the message "camera cannot connect" is displayed, despite having an in-built camera.
Recently, whenever I use Skype, my camera turns off after a few seconds with the following message: "Camera may be in use by another application or removed. Please try again."I've tried restarting, unplugging/replugging,
When i open photobooth or Facetime, or any other programe to use my inbuilt camera it comes up with "no camera connected".One day it was working, i had no accidents that i recall that would have caused this to happen and there are no other issues just this!
