The color of the application switching overlay changed to a black instead of the standard white. I don't know how this happened. Also the color of the on-screen overlays for changing the display luminosity, keyboard backlight and volume changed to black. How to set it back to the standard white?

I have a problem after updating to 10.7.4. It seams that the red color has changed after the update. I can notice it in the US flag for the keyboard layout. I have no idea what to do. I have tried to use different color profiles and calibrate the monitor, but nothing helped. I think maybe it is connected with the fact that I didn't disconnect the external monitor while the update process.Â
I had an issue with the red color before while I connected external display and used only it. After I disconnected the display the red color changed itself. At that time the reboot only helped. But recently I started to use both displays of my macbook pro and external one and the issue with red color did't appear any more. And now after the update the red color has changed and I don't know how to return it back.Â
I've just made a clean install of Lion on monday and everything was perfect. Now I don't want to do it again. It took the full day of setting my system. I don't have time for the second time. I need to Work! I have MacBook Pro 17" of mid 2009. The external display that I use is Dell 2408WFP.Â

I have an annoying problem with application switching since I have upgraded to Mac OS Lion from Snow Leopard.Now switching between applications doesn't work as good as it was in Snow Leopard.
Right now I have Finder and Xcode opened. Xcode is assigned to only one specific Desktop and Finder is assigned to None. And when I am in Xcode for example and use Cmd-Tab to switch to Finder, it deactivates my current window, but doesn't move to the space with Finder or makes Finder active. Then, I press Cmd-Tab again, and it makes Finder active (My top panel controls show Finder now) but I still stay in the space with Xcode. And further switching doesn't do anything. So I then need to manually to click on the Finder icon in the Dock. And the same is vice versa when switching from Finder to Xcode.Â
If I switch by clicking the Finder Dock icon it then works in two steps: first time it deactivates current window, and after second click it moves to Finder Desktop and makes Finder active.Â
Another issue is with Safari when I am in Fullscreen mode and have also Activity window opened. If I am in Finder and switch with Cmd-Tab to Safari, it just shows me the Activity window in the same Desktop no matter how many times I Cmd-Tab. To switch to Main Safari window I need to click on the Dock icon.If I switch only by clicking the Dock icon, then I again need to click it twice.Â
Option for moving to space with selected application in Preference Pane is switched on and Automatically rearrangement of last used applications as well.Â

Every now and then (every few days maybe), my macbook's display profile will switch from my good-looking calibrated profile to one of the really bad looking color profiles (which gives everything a nasty purple tint). This usually happens when the display is woken up, or when I switch from a fullscreen game back to the desktop.
When it does it, I can switch it back by going to system preferences > display > color and clicking the color profile I normally use, but having to do this is getting annoying.
Within the last day or two, I noticed that the background color of many web pages I frequently visit has turned to white.

When I open my network preferences to make the change I get a message that my network preferences have been changed by another application. When I cancel the message it reappears and will not allow me to do anything even quit network preferences.

When I run Network Diagnostics hey presto, your internet is working fine....The only things I have changed recently was that as I am running osx 10.4.11 I was having that issue where you couldn't access Network in sys pref, it kept saying "your settings have been changed by another application", I found a solution on here whereby you delete the plist prefs and rebuild them... That worked a charm but now I'm wondering is this connected in some way....

I got software from the makers of the belkin N+ wireless usb dongle chip that came with my router (belkin don't provide osx support but said that I could get a utility from the chip makers) I installed this but it never worked so uninstalled it, and ran disk utility and safe boot and pram and fsck (everything I could think of)
I only have one location in network, and airport is the only active network port
any ideas...????

I'm getting a message every time I open Network in System Preferences saying "Your network settings have been changed by another application". I click OK, and the box goes away and immediately comes back. It means I cannot use the Network part of System Preferences at all, because this message is caught in some kind of loop, and won't go away.

The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.
So i changed the color of my dock with dock doctor and i tried to change it back to default but it wont do it. Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy neighbor has an IMac with OS 10.4.11 installed. When I open System Preferences and select the Network icon, the Network window comes up but it is overlayed with a message that states: "Your network settings have been changed by another application." When I click OK, this same overlaid window comes back.
The only way I can get out of System Preferences at this point is to do a Force Quit. In other words, because this overlaid window appears, I am unable to access the Network window to look at TCP/IP settings, make changes, etc.
Next I went into System/Library/Preference Panes/Network.prefPane(more info) to look at the application that appeared in the "Open with" field. It stated "System Preference." I replaced this with a new "System Preferences from the Applications Folder, but the same thing happened - even after I rebooted the computer.
Please let me know how to solve this problem so I can access the Network System Preferences properly.

I have: Power PC G5 dual 2.3 w 10.4.11 os, Lost Internet connection. (ethernet cable direct to router), No known cause. Checked router,cable etc. All work fine w other computers etc. router does not "see/read" when cable connected to G5. I figured Ethernet card is dead. Can't afford new card figured I'd try: Net gear G54 wireless USB adapter, just to get back online. Downloaded driver for Mac etc. Went to System Prefernces to set up. Opened System Preferences then Network, Automatically this message drops down: "Your network settings have been changed by another application" When I click "ok" same message automatically drops back down. Cannot access "Network settings" at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm creating several movies that will play before a church service begins. Usually we just buy countdown videos, but this time I thought I'd get creative and make some. There is always a countdown timer that starts at 5:00 and counts down to 0. This way people know when the service is going to start, from 5 minutes out. I have been searching and searching and cannot find any way to overlay a countdown timer in iMovie HD or iMovie '08 (I have both).
Can someone suggest something? I don't want just a countdown movie, it has to be only in the corner or something. I want to use some footage of driving to church, make it fast forward so it finishes in exactly 5 minutes, and have a countdown timer display overtop of that in a corner. I've tried using the Slick 5 Gallery for iMovie, but they just have countdown movies, not overlay. Also, the Labels & Overlays from stupendous software has a timer, but it only counts up.
I think my 20" G5 iMac ( the model before the integrated iSight) may have what amounts to a terminal graphic card problem. It was working perfectly until suddenly an odd red pattern made up of what looks oddly like thousands of tiny i-ching symbols overlayed over the actual desktop. I have tried rebooting from the CD which suggests it isn't a software issue, and since I understand the graphics card is part of the logic board, it's probably not worth replacing it financially.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI started up my iBook today and it took me all the way through sign-in to my desktop before giving me a grey overlay with a little box saying that I need to restart. So I did and then it took me to my desktop again before scrolling code across the screen in a very messy, un-mac-like way. I tried getting into safe boot (restarting and pressing shift from after the tone until the apple and wheel show up) and it just ran the apple and wheel grey start-up screen for a while before kicking back into a normal restart and giving me the earlier results. So I went and got myself into single-user mode and ran the fsck -yf command. It told me this: Checking Catalog file Invalid extent entry (4, 190) Volume check failed Is there any way to fix this, to save my computer? I don't know anything about code or computers. My general mode of operation has been "I bought a /mac/. I shouldn't ever have to look at code."

when I open my Network in System Preferences, "Network settings have been changed by another application" pops up and every time I click Ok, it pops up again, not letting me be able to access any other option in the Network window. The wireless icon has disappeared from my top bar and the only way I have managed to get online is via my ethernet cable. I have had nothing but problems since I started using my O2 Wireless Broadband dongle and I've noticed that behind the "Network settings have been changed by another application" notification, I can seen the Dongle has appeared as a new network connection option... but was never there before today (have been using the dongle for two months now)

I have an 09 Mac Pro Nehalem, with nvida gt120 graphics card running 10.6.2 with the latest mac pro 1.4 efi and two 23 inch Apple cinema displays (the older DVI kind)
I go into system preferences>displays>color and try to adjust color on my monitors but selecting different color settings on either monitor only affects ONE monitor, the other monitor is essentially stuck at whatever color setting it is set to.
When starting the iMac in the mornings, the upper strip of the desktop appears in the screen color instead of white. What could this be?

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis problem happens when I'm working between several applications at a time. I'm actively working in the current app when OSX automatically pulls me out and shows me something in a background app that suddenly requires attention, like a dialog box. Quite often I open or save files while working on something else, ususally in fullscreen mode. Moments later, I'm disruptively switched to a file that just opened in another application, or I'm told that something was saved, updated, installed, etc. This automatic switch interrupts my typing or commands in the app I was currently engaging, and has become a major problem.Â
Is there a way to keep OSX from pulling me out of my current application?
