Feb 2, 2010Could someone with the 15 inch 2.53ghz model weigh your machine? I just want to know the weight without the 2nd fan and the 9600gt.

Laptops :: 13-inch: 2.53GHz Vs 15-inch: 2.53GHz MBP?
Jun 11, 2009Apple has some pretty weird pricing with these two MBP. I looked through the specs of both MBPs, I didn't find much different, besides some audio in/out port, a/c adapter wattage. Only main difference that I found obviously is the screen size. 13" vs 15.4". Usually, in PC scenario, all things remain the same, if the screen size is small, the price usually is more (a lot). But here in these two MBPs the 15.4" is $200 more than a 13". I find it, sorta weird. Is it just me finding it?

Jan 5, 2010i just bought the imac 21.5 inch with ati radeon 4670 and the base spec. after few hours of playing with this new toy. i realise that when you press the shutdown button, it will put the imac to sleep instead of showing the shutdown/restart option that i have on my macbook. Is there any way to make it work like a macbook power button. secondly, whenever my imac wake up after sleeping, the fan will run faster and automatically went to sleep again. this issue just keep repeating itself. i have no choice but to shutdown the imac and boot up again. Thirdly, i try the machine on WoW and i realise that the sound is rather choppy

IMac (Intel) :: Grey Green Tint Over Entire Display / Early 2009 24 Inch
Jun 25, 2014early 2009 Intel iMac 24". OS 10.6.8.
Working in Excel today, I was highlighting groups of cells with color when the entire screen suddenly had a pale grey-green tint. Can still see colors beneath, but everything tinted (not just the Excel window, but the entire display). White, of course, is most dramatic. The Dell monitor beside it is fine.
I've recalibrated color a half dozen times (have always had to do that to get the Dell and iMac screens as similar as possible). It's impossible to get white on the Mac. Rebooted several times, including hard boot, zapped the PRam, ran Permissions Repair and Disk Repair from the startup CD. Installed Temperature Monitor to see if there's a heat problem, but I could not find normal temp values anywhere on the Web, so that was something of a bust. Temps attached below in case there's an educated set of eyes out there....
Ran some online tests, too, for color distortion, dead pixels, that kind of thing, but nothing reveled.
I've been all over the Web looking for some guidelines, but most posts at apple and elsewhere seem to focus on later-model iMacs with the yellow lower screen problem when new (It's not that) or panic screens of wild colors, stripes, and the like. This is just a grey-green tint that covers the entire screen, rendering whites grey-green and colors muddy.

Jul 23, 2009my macbook just crapped out on me so I am looking to buy one of the unibody macbook pro's and I want to know which one to get. I want one of the 13" screens.
Both models look the same besides the processor speed which is only about a .27 difference and some memory and hard drive differences which I can upgrade for cheaper on my own. Is this something that is worth paying the $300 difference or should the 2.26 save me some money and just upgrade the memory and hard drive and suffice just the same?
I want to get opinions because I'd like to save a couple bucks if I could if it's not that much of a deal breaker.

Oct 16, 2010I know this might seem like a stupid question, but it really has me wondering. What is the difference between the i5 processor on the MacBook Pro and the iMac? Are they exactly the same except for the clock speed of .13? If I were to upgrade my MacBook Pro with a 7200RPM HD, would it be the exact same computer?
The reason why I ask is because I read online that the i5 on the iMac has 4 cores and the i5 on the MacBook Pro only has 2 and that got me confused, why would two different processors be called the same?

Feb 17, 2010Long story short my Uni is buying me a mac. I've got to order it asap so can't wait any more for an update. They are putting �1150 towards it. I intend to use it for various things including running final cut pro.
What I want to know is will the 2.5Ghz model with only the 9400m graphics card and a 7200rpm hard drive run final cut pro well, or will I notice a hell of a lot of difference from the higher spec machines with the 9600m card and bigger processors?
I worked out that I would have to put in an extra �241 for the 2.8 or �136 for the 2.66, so it's not a great deal of difference, but I am not rich and I don't want to waste my money.

Oct 6, 2010I know there's been plenty of discussion about how hot the new MBP's are running or not (I've been through all the threads, and really appreciated Scott666's posts abt his i7 MBP) but I still havent seen any exact head to head temperature comparison between the 15" i5 2.4/2.53ghz and the 15" i7 2.66ghz, with both running the same programs/being stressed equally while the readings are taken.
I know it's a hassle, but it's a huge investment for me and i'd ideally like the i7 as I edit video but can't always have access to a desk to prevent crispy fried legs I keep hearing sweeping statements like 'the i5 should run cooler' but no real comparison has been done...

I need something a bit faster then my current configuration and was wondering if the 2.53Ghz Macbook Pro with 4gb of Ram would do me justice. I will be using it mostly for music production, using Propellerhead Reason software, and of course internet use, and HD video. Would I get better performance Switching to the 2.53ghz Macbook Pro?

I had a 11 inch air 1.4GHz/4GB/128GB for two weeks. I usually set the brightness to 75% and for consistent web browsing (no heavy flash) I can get about 5h15min battery life. I noticed someone here claiming 8+ hours battery on 13 inch so I decided to give it a shot.
I got a new 13 air with 1.86GHz/4GB/128GB yesterday and start to run on battery immediately. I was disappointed. The brightness was also set to 75% and I start to count the time from 25% while browsing MacRumors.com. And it only took 1h38m for battery descending from 25% to 0%. Again, pure web browsing and no heavy flash.
So here is my conclusion: On 75% brightness, 11 inch air's battery performs beyond advertised 5 hours and 13 inch's battery performs fair and normally should give you around 6h30m~7h.
Noise
I don't have equipments for measuring the noise, but while copying the same 10GB files from external drive to the machine, the fan noise from 13 inch is much louder than 11 inch.
Now I like my 11 inch more in general, although I really hate the 1366 x 768 screen. I don't know if I should sell the 13 inch or 11inch...

Below is what I've compiled so far (in no particular order):
1) SD Card Slot is on the 13" MacBook Air, not present on the 11"
2) Higher clock speed configurations on the 13" (1.4 GHz/1.6 GHz vs. 1.86 GHz/2.13 GHz)
3) 6MB of shared L2 Cache on the 13" vs. the 3MB on the 11"
4) 1066 MHz frontside bus on the 13" vs. the 800 MHz on the 11"
5) Larger capacity battery and an extra 2 hours of battery life on the 13" (7 hour 50-watt-hour battery on the 13" vs. 5 hour 35-watt-hour battery on the 11")
6) Slightly larger trackpad and more room for your palms while typing (hey, it's true!)
7) 16:10 1440 x 900 13.3" Display vs. 16:9 1366 x 768 11.6" Display
8) The 13" model weighs in at 2.9 pounds while the 11" weighs in at 2.3 pounds. .5 pound weight difference
