I don' t need to write disk with that drive.

May 10, 2009Can anybody recommend a ebook reading software that i can use on my macbook pro. Another thing is that my eyes hurt when i read off the adobe reader.

Sep 26, 2009Is there such a thing? I know you can open them in TextEdit but the formatting is a little messed up most of the time, same with Notepad in Windows. Once I switched to DAMN NFO (Windows NFO reader), formatting was great.

Apr 10, 2010I want to use my CAC reader on my MACBOOK. I am currently operating with OS X 10.6.3. My reader is SCR 331. The MACBOOK sees all of my certificates and allows me to enter the url for the new identity - I have been entering "[URL]. When I get to the site via Safari it asks me to input the pin number and then it drops the connection after I enter the pin. I am wondering if there is a step that I missed between Safari and the CAC Reader.

Aug 17, 2009I love Google Reader, but it doesn't support authenticated feeds and to keep a tab with my univ's rss feed I'd like a reader that does support that. So instead of spending my time trying out a bunch I'm just asking if anyone who have and got a preference in that respect? I've been using thunderbird under win and linux for the same purpose, but if there are better alternatives I'm all open.

Aug 28, 2010I read a lot of blogs for my business for research such as marketing tips, product releases new, etc. I've always tried to figure out the best way to keep up with the multiple sites and either just browse the sites or use services such as Twitter or Email Newsletters I've talked to PC users and many of them suggested using RSS Feeds and I recently got Pulse for both my iPad and iPhone and it's been wonderful. I like the design and how it works but the only problem is a limit of 20 feeds. This covers many of the feeds but not quite all that I want to subscribe to.
What is a good option for using on the Mac? For web browsing I use Firefox, Safari, and Chrome and for email Thunderbird. If I'm correct these offer options for RSS feeds. How do these compare to other feed readers for the Mac. Are web based/cloud versions better? I"ve heard of options such as Google Reader.

MacBook Pro :: Can't Open PDF Files - Finding Latest Version Of Adobe Reader
Oct 30, 2009I just "upgraded" yesterday from a Power Mac G4 to a 17" MacPro. Among other adjustment problems, I can't open PDF files. The message I get is "You can't open the application Adobe Reader because it is not supported on this kind of Mac."
I've tried downloading the latest version of Adoobe Reader, an although it seems to download, I can't find it.
How do I deal with PDF files on a MacPro?

Jun 2, 2010I just tried NetNewsWire, and Vienna, NNW is nice but Google Reader has a great feature that these both are without.
In GReader, when I mouse over or scroll down it marks that one article as read. No pushing buttons, clicking next, nothing. Just read.
I want to be able to pre-download all of my current unread items, AND the pictures. Gears for GReader does NOT download the pictures. I have a lot of picture only feeds, like lolcats, that I would like to let build up for a week and then on my long plane ride home, check out.
In NNW I can smash the space bar and get this accomplished, but I'd rather just scroll through, or at least have the option to.
I don't really like the look of Vienna, it's too unpolished, NNW is a tad better and has better options for like the prefs.
It would also be interesting to be able to give specific instructions, or adjust certain settings on a per-feed basis. Such as filter out cartain keywords (Without using a service such as feedrinse).
I hat vienna because once I click on a feed, it marks everything as read. That's bad for me as I sometimes just open a mega feed and read one or two items. I have maby 20 or 30 feeds, but usually get 2-300 new items a day. Most are junk like Joystick, but I like to sit down and go through the important ones while im taking a break or eating lol.
I know you can't but it'd be interesting to allow some feeds to auto queue an embedded movie, let me view it offline (or off my VPN.

Software :: Using G4 OS 10.4.10 CD Reader?
May 18, 2008May I ask if you've any ideas on how to resolve this problem please? On my G4 (running OSX.4.10) when I insert data CDs it seems to accept them and the image appears on the desktop and I can easily access the data therein. But when I insert any commercially recorded music CDs it ejects them. I've tried several pre-recorded CDs and they've pretty much all been ejected, with one exception from a double-CD set. It read Disc 1 but rejected Disc 2! (The same applies with DVDs). Obviously I've gone into System references/Hardware/CDs & DVDs although when I click on iTunes for when I'm inserting a music CD it invariably jumps back to 'ignore' - could this be part of the problem and if so how do I ensure it will remain with displaying iTunes at this section? This is a really big problem as I want to increase my iTunes library to transfer more music to my 160gb iPod.

Jan 29, 2009I have around 10 RSS feeds, and have NewsFire set to update every 5 minutes, and it didn't seem to want to update all the RSS feeds. So I just cut it back to like every 30 minutes, and it still doesn't seem like it updates. Like it'll alert me with one update in about 2 hours, and then when I manually update it, like 20 things pop up!
I checked each site and they are all updating on the same time slot, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Is just 10 RSS feeds too many? That would seem weird to me...

Apr 5, 2010I have a AMICROE 42-in-1 USB 2.0 Card Reader that I use to transfer pictures from my camera's memory stick (SanDisk Memory Stick PRO Duo 1.0 GB) to my mac. It always works but the last few times I have tried to use it it wont show up in iPhoto or anywhere else. I looked in disk utillity (which I think is the right place to look) but it is nowhere on my computer. What is wrong, what do I do? I also don't want to spend any money buying a new one or getting it fixed if it has a problem, but it is working coz the little blue light is coming on.
It has many different ports for different memory sticks and it works with some other cameras in different ports, I can't work out why it is doing this!

Jun 1, 2009I am needing to install a pdf reader on a Mac Classic 7.0. It is the only computer that can connect to the Laserwriter IINT (I have a Mac G3 OS 10.2 but am not seeing how to connect to the Laserwriter. I'm needing to edit/print old Cricket Draw and Pagemaker files and found when I updated the Pagemaker files on the G3 and printed them on the Classic - some of the graphics I added caused printing errors. After much googling it appears to be a compression problem in the older Pagemaker when printing. I tried replacing the graphics with cricket draw PICTs but still had errors.
SO plan 'B' was to edit the files on the G3 - print to PDF - then print the PDF from the Classic. I found a PrintToPDF 2.4.5 that says it will run on the Classic but the Classic doesn't have Stuffit - can't seem to get the PDF installed.
Maybe I am looking at this whole thing wrong and need to concentrate on connecting the Laserwriter to the G3.
OR - can I connect the 2 machines so that I can run the classic from the G3 similar to how I use Remote Computing on PCs to run another PC from a main one. I do not know what would be involved - cabling or otherwise.
The situation is I can edit the Pagemakers on the G3 and print them to PDF and would print them to the Laserwriter if I could figure out how to connect and install the printer on the G3

May 24, 2012suddenly cant scroll anymore when is in reader mode. before that still ok, i can scroll when is reader mode in safari. even use the magic mouse, track pad or other mouse also cant scroll. but for other is working, like scroll website and others is work can scroll. only in reader mode cant scroll at all. even highlight the text also not auto scroll.
