Jul 1, 2012In the Mail app, I'm getting a circle with a triangle and an exclamation mark inside it. I can't receive or send my from this (Outlook Express) account. It's a work email account, but it has been working fine until now. I clicked Rebuild from the app menu (trying to fix it!), but that only removed all existing emails in the mailbox.

However I have recently been using Postbox and I rather like it, so I have sidelined Mail.
Problems arise when I schedule reminders and invitations from iCal - it immediately wants to start up the Mail program and not Postbox.
At the moment I am running the two email programs alongside each other which really isn't practical.

Jun 25, 2009I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I'm with Virgin media and have a separate set of email address through my website for my business so my email address are through freeola that I am using through Thunderbird.I'm sorry if this all sounds very stupid but I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out where I have gone wrong!
Applications :: Mac Outlook Express To Entourage
Apr 14, 2009I am having trouble converting my Mac (not PC) Outlook Express messages to Entourage (eventually I would like to move them to Mac Mail as well). On my old iMac I ran System 8.6 and Outlook Express. The messages on my old iMac were mostly saved as a single file named "Messages" in my "Main Identity" folder - this is how Outlook Express seemed to save the messages. I now have a PowerMac G5 running 10.5.6 and running Mac Mail as well as Entourage. I need to have a look at my old backed-up messages for business purposes, but I am unable to do so. I have given away my old iMac and so now I am stuck with System X and Entourage/Mac Mail.
I have downloaded the PST Import Tool but it does not seem to recognise my Mac Outlook Express files. I tried to open the files with Entourage; my old Outlook Express "Messages file" is recognised (or labelled) as an "Entourage database" but it does not open. I did have some individual messages saved that I was able to simply copy and paste as messages on to Entourage. But 99% of the old messages are stored in this single, large "Messages" file. And it is this file which I need to convert/import and am unable to do so. How do I convert this mac file into something that Entourage or MS Mail is able to understands seems to be the key question. All of this is very disconcerting to me - I have been a Mac person all my life and given that I am not changing computer platforms, I did not expect to encounter such problems. And there are some important e-mails I really do need to retrieve.

Jun 26, 2012I need to recover a mail attachment from an old dead Titanium from a friend. He needs to look for an important attachment. I have all the content from the machine in my hard drive, running Lion here. I located the Outlook Express Main Indentity but canoot figue out a way to import the messages to any modern mail program.
I wonder if the mail attachments are stored in any specific location of the system, or are encrypted into the Messages files in such Indentity.
I other words, can a navigate the stored Outllok Express attachments and find those files or is everything lost without an OS9 machine?

She was previously using an XP PC, and her biggest concern in terms of switching is making sure that she still has all her old emails on the computer. Is there a nice, easy way to transfer all data from Outlook Express (including all old emails stored on the computer) to a Mac? Broadening the scope a little more, is there anything I should know before I start backing up all of her files? Is there an easy way to go about moving everything from "My Documents" to the home folder on the Mac? Mar 21, 2009I used to use an old version of Outlook Express on my Powerbook 1400 running OS 9.2. Before I switched to my PB G4 (which a few months ago was replaced by a new MB Pro) in 2003, I archived my Outlook identity as a Stuffit file. The other day I discovered this old archive and thought I'd try to retrieve the message from it. I unstuffed it and the result was an "Entourage Database." Okay, but Entourage will not let me import from it. When I try to use it as the database for Entourage, it needs to be rebuilt, but when it is rebuilt, the file size is reduced from 190 MB to 18 MB and the content is apparently cleaned out. Does anyone know how I can get these old email messages out of this file and into either Entourage or Apple Mail?

May 16, 2010I'm new to Apple. So I have my email set up and am receiving email. I am so use to Outlook and I miss it. The email program that came with my MBP is no where near Outlook. I hate to do that but I'm so use to those programs. If someone told me no don't buy MS basic programs because MAC has great programs and you simply need to learn to use them, I will hold off. I really want honest advise and perhaps the office and email products by MS really are the way to go.

Dec 2, 2014I experience a funny behavior of Mail. At times, when I forward emails to Outlook users, they can not see the forwarded part of the mail. This happens both with my iCloud mail address and with a corporate mail account.
On the other hand, if I send the same email from iCloud.com web page, it works fine.
This is very bad: I use mail for work and over 90% of my contacts use Outlook...
