Mac Pro :: Address Bar At Top Gone?
Feb 6, 2012
I was trying to move my page with the mouse and moved the HTTP address bar on the top right off the page. I have no idea where it went and I can't get it back. I only have the back & forward arrows.

Using a G4 IBOOK with OS 10.5.8. Recently converted IBOOK from just my wifes computer to both of us so it is now dual usuage with both of us signing in to our respective files/e-mail, etc. My side has a problem never experienced before. My apple mail system address book has all the names the dock address book does but is missing almost 2/3rd of the actual e-mail addressess. I have tried to redo the dock address book in hopes it would change the "internal" mail book, but to no avail. It id difficult to add a recipient to an outgoing e-mail via the dock address instead of the apple mail address book.

I'm trying to setup mail on Lion Sever (7.3). The only way I can get it to accept incoming mail is to specify the whole FQDN of the server in the address. For example the domain name is example.com and I have a user set up called john. Sending mail to john@server.example.com works.
But sending mail to john@example.com (which is what I want) returns an error:
554 554 5.7.1 <john@example.com>: Relay access denied (state 13).
For internal DNS, I have:
example.com - primary zonemail.expample.com - alias server.example.comserver.example.com - 192.168.1.2 [URL] - alias server.example.com MX record [URL]
I see references here to problems in mail on 7.3 but not this specific problem.

how to specify which of several email addresses should be used for a member of a group. It starts by selecting the menu item "Edit > Edit Distribution List." From there it explains how to select the desired address for a specific person. All well and good...Â
BUT...Â
Try as I might, doing various combinations of name or group selections in the address book window, I cannot seem to get the "Edit Distributuion List" item to be un-greyed. Effectively, the program is not allowing me to do the edit function I need to do on this one group member.Â
Am I missing the secret handshake in this process? Why should it be this hard to do this simple function?Â
Which raises the larger question of "What did Apple do to the Address Book application in general?" This issue is only the tip of my iceberg. The whole app seems to be harder to use than before.Â

I must be missing something very obvious, but I can't seem to set Address Book to add all new contact info as "Work" entries. I have to edit every new entry and change all the fields from "other" to "work." This appears to happen when I "grab" phone or email info from an email message.

So, is it possible for the address bar "top hit" or "history" to recognize part of a web address if you don't start with it?
For example.
In firefox, when I start typing macrumors, I get forums.macrumors, macrumors....

This is probably a stupid question, but why isn't there an address contact button that you can click on in a new message from MAIL? Am I missing something here? In all previous versions of the OS one could just do that and a list of contacts popped up and then you could click on one and it would go to the "To" slot. There's got to be an easier way than to open the contact book, find an address, copy it, then place it in the message "To" slot.

I've been searching all over the interwebs and I can't seem to find a way to change the MAC address of my MBP wireless for Leopard 10.5.6. It appears that some worked with earlier versions of 10.5 but changing it has been "disabled?" somehow with the latest update.
Anyone know anything about it? I tried using instructions from sites like:[URL]
Still doesn't work for me.

I'm trying to spoof my MAC address, using 10.5.6 (intel imac) and connecting via wired ethernet.
I've been googling this for a while to no avail... seemingly it was possible on earlier versions of OSX but maybe not 10.5...

Hope someone can help me with this - have seen similar-ish issues in past posts but nothing that can fully help me.Basically I have just moved in to a new houseshare - there is WIFI in the house, cable broadband (NTL IRELAND).On my Macbook Pro (2007) I am having an issue connecting to the internet. Had the issue on Leopard and, now, on Snow Leopard.I connect to the home network, but cannot get internet. I tried with DHCP, but Airport says I cannot connect due to the IP address being self assigned?

I just got my first mac (MBP) yesterday. I started it up and did everything it told me to do. I then tried to get on the internet and it worked for about 10 minutes. Then it said "you are not connected to the internet" and a box showed up saying " Another device on the network is using your computer's IP address" and then suggestions of what I can do. Every once in a while the internet will work, but it quits after 5 or so minutes. I moved from Dell to Mac and I checked the IP address on those and they were not the same number.

I switched hosts from bluehost to .mac. The folks at the apple store made the changes with Network Solutions. If you type in "stangoldberwriter.com" it points to "page under construction." If you type in [URL]" it goes to the .mac site. Network solutions said they can fix the problem if I have .macs "A Record" or IP Address. I can't find anyway to get this information from any of the mac user sites.

My main email is a gmail address but I would like to start using my Apple mail more frequently. I have moved services to iCloud. I use OS X Lion for my Macbook and iOS 5 for my iPhone. My apple account is still myname@mac.com and this address is still listed as "verified" in account settings. When MobileMe came along I mainly used the "@me" affix but I still occasionally sent mails using @mac, selecting it in from the drop down menu in Mail.Recently I tried the same, selected to send from myname@mac.com but got the following error message:And when I tried to sent an email to myself from my gmail I received the following error message: "Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently..Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias: myname@mac.com (state 13)."The myname@me.com works as it should, operating normally in iCloud. Is there any way I could use the ".mac" affix? I now think that this makes for a more handsome address than the more egocentric "@me".

As of last night, my @mac.com address no longer works. @me.com is fine, but I can't get mail to my address @mac.com.
I chatted with an Apple support rep who said that they are turning off all routing of mac.com addresses as of December 31. It would be nice if someone told me there was a deadline. I have a lot of places/accounts where I never switched over to me.com and now I have to scramble to do so.

Development of Apple's upcoming Mac OS X 10.5.5 Update appears to be winding down, with only a couple of new fixes making their way into recent builds, including one aimed at wireless issues.
This past week saw two new pre-release distributions of the 320MB Leopard update fall into developers' hands. The first arrived mid week as Mac OS X 10.5.5 build 9F25, but contained no noticeable changes from the build the preceded it.
More recently, developers were treated to build 9F29. That build tacked on a pair of fixes, one of which tackles an issue between Macs and previously joined AirPort networks, people familiar with the software say. The second fix was related to a graphics framework.
Seemingly at the tail end of its development cycle, Mac OS X 10.5.5 is reportedly hindered by a single known bug that prevents emails from being searched properly in Apple's Mail application.
The fifth maintenance and security update for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard now stands to deliver 125 bug fixes when it's released later this month.[ View this article at AppleInsider.com ]

I've just been inputing email addresses into my Mac Address Book. One email at a time. All of a sudden it wipe every email address in then (over 4000) and left 2.
It wiped out all the Group Folders I had in there as well. Basically all I can view now is the 2 emails, nothing else. I've found some of the emails (only 50 or so) in a Recovered Files folder in the Trash.

I "sold" my MBP this weekend to someone who turned out to be a scammer. He paid me $1250 for my MBP, of which $600 (all in one hundred dollar bills) was counterfeit. I'm still in a little bit of shock - the kid seemed legit. Very nice, talkative, etc. I even held up the bills to the light to make sure the watermark was present on the bills - it was. (My bank later told me that it was a really good counterfeit....didn't really make me feel any better.)
In any case, I have the MAC address of my notebook. Is it possible to trace it? Am I screwed? I'm not even upset about the missing $600 - I'm more upset that this shaddy guy could potentially get away with this and continue scamming other people, who possibly might be totally devastated if they were scammed out of that kind of money.
