OS X V10.7 Lion :: Cannot Select A 1600 X 900 Resolution
Apr 8, 2012I am using Win 7 Home Edition 64 bit on an mid 2011 iMac via BootCamp; the problem is that i cannot select the 1600x900 screen resolution, as it is not available as an option at the Control Panel menu. I have reinstalled the windows support software, installed drivers directly from the ATI's site (both for desktop and notebook use) but the above resolution is not available. When i boot into Mac OS X, the 1600 x 900 resolution is available and is the one selected.

Aug 27, 2010Just got my mini displayport to hdmi converter. So i hooked up my Samsung P2470 to my macbook pro 13" 2010, but i can't put the resolution of the samsumg any higher than 1600 x 900. How can i crank it up to the full hd resolution?(which the monitor supports).

Dec 22, 2010I have a MacBook Air (11.6") and a Philips 234EL monitor whose native resolution is 1920 x 1080.
However, when I connect the monitor to the laptop with an Apple HDMI cable and a Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, the maximum resolution I can get is 1600 x 900.

Jun 3, 2014I'm using a temporary monitor while my trusty old Mac HD Cinema Display is in the shop getting fixed.
As a stopgap I am using a Samsung T190.
My computer is a Mac Pro tower. I'm running 10.7.5 (Lion) as I'm still working with Final Cut Pro 7.
I can't get an option to switch the screen resolution to 1920 x 1200
I can go no higher than 1440 x 900.
In my quest for a solution I read something about the option key and the "scaled radio button" in the display preferences.
I don't see a "scaled radio button" in the preferences.

OS X V10.3 :: How To Change Screen Resolution For Games In Mac
Jul 1, 2012I have an iBook clamshell with os X 10.3.9 running. I want to play some older games, like Diablo 1, squirrel kombat, etc.
What I can't find out anywhere is how to change the resolution for games. I know for older games (at least on PC) that there was a file that stored your settings, like sound card, resolution, etc.
I can't find anything like that here. Diablo 1 says that it needs to have a minimum of 640 X 480. I want to set it at 800 X 600.
Update, it looks like Diablo is running in classic mode (I thought it would run in OS X) anyway, the question is still the same!

Apr 13, 2010I was waiting to buy a new Macbook Pro but as soon as they were released today I said "meh" and decided maybe I should buy a brand new iMac and keep my Early 08 MBP. I want to get a new Mac in preparation for the upcoming launch of Steam on OS X and just because mine is long in the tooth for Windows gaming.
Anyways... I just had a thought and was wondering if any owners could clear it up. The resolution on the 27 i7 Quad Core seems ENORMOUS for a middle-grade ATI GPU. Are you able to game on high settings for semi-modern games like L4D2, TF2, etc. at the 27"'s native resolution? What are your thoughts on it as a gaming machine. It seems like the 27" will obsolete itself quicker than a i5/i7 21 inch (if one ever comes out) due to the screen resolution size.
Windows On Mac :: Finding Other Resolution To Run Games On My Maxed IMac?
Feb 1, 2009I have the fully loaded 3.06GHz iMac with the upgraded video card. The native resolution is 1920x1200, which even with the iMac's decent specs, is a hefty performance dump being forced to run games in this high resolution. When I try lowering the resolution, literally every other resolution option looks like crap, while 1920x1200 looks crisp and perfect. Most of the other options aren't a matching aspect ratio for the widescreen monitor. Is there a good resolution you recommend, and if it isn't available in my game, is there a way to make it available?
Do I need to hack each game to display other resolution options that match my aspect ratio? How can I get better performance besides turning the graphics to crap? I would be happy running in a lower resolution with all other settings maxed, rather than most settings low with such a high resolution.
Do I have any options here or am I screwed? I'm sure some of you guys must have come across this issue! I'm a new Mac convert who can't get rid of my PC gaming.
Note: Preferably I would like to find an alternate widescreen resolution, rather than finding a way to use 4:3 with black bars, but either would be better than how it is now.

May 13, 2010I went to the macshop to check out the hi res 15" after reading as much as I could about glare & text size.
(It's a bit like looking at medical textbooks because the more you look round the forums the more problems you find! I have just read about a yellow tint on the 15" high res )
They did not have one in but they did have the 17" high res in.
I know the 17" high res has a slighly higher dpi but does the text size look the same as the 15" high res (more or less)?

Feb 28, 2010I have a new LG W2343 monitor capable of displaying 1920 x 1080 connected to my White Macbook early 2009. I have the external set to mirror and have made the laptop display go to sleep by closing the lid and then waking all else up by using the external mouse.
So at the moment the laptop monitor is blank and the external monitor is displaying 1280 x 1024. When I now try to switch the external to 1920 the external screen goes blank too. I then have a blank laptop and blank external meaning I have to force shutdown by powering down.
Why can't I switch the external to 1920?
Any advice gratefully received as I am tearing out what little hair I have left.

Aug 17, 2010So i'm trying to figure out the best resolution for using my macbook pro in clamshell mode. I think ever since i installed snow leopard the new resolution choices i have are not longer pixel x pixel, but actual TV resolutions, such as 1080i, 720p, 420p. In the past I've used SwitchResX to do custom resolutions for my tv but that dosnt seem to work anymore.
I'm trying to find a resolution where text is easy to read. 1080i looks pretty but text is extremely small. 720p the text is larger and easy to see but is very fuzzy and not easy on the eyes. I guess this has something to do with the pixels on a tv being farther apart than that of a computer monitor. It's a 32" LCD TV. I'm using a DVI to HDMI cable (Non-Unibody Macbook Pro).

Feb 25, 2009Debating between two monitors to use as an external with my MBP. HP LP2475w & Dell 2209WA.
HP is a 24" H-IPS panel with 1920 x 1200 max resolution. Dell is a 22" e-IPS panel with 1680 x 1050 max resolution. The Dell is half the price of the HP.
My concern is the lower resolution on the Dell. What difference is there with the lower resolution of the Dell vs the HP monitor? Keeping in mind of course that the Dell is also 2" smaller than the HP. I'd be using the monitor for extended web surfing, writing for long periods in m.word, and video editing.
