View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there any talk of an update of iwork '08 during Macworld '09? I am a switcher to Mac as of last month and I really like pages instead of word. I've been using a trial version and I'm going to buy it, but I was wondering if I should stick it out by using google docs in the event that they release iwork '09. By the way, in case any admins are reading this post, why don't they include Apple software in the Buyers Guide?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if I am getting a good transfer rate on my time capsule. (Using leopard). If I alt (option) click on the airport icon on the top of the screen, I can get details to my network. One of the details is transfer. I am assuming this is the speed of my network. Do you know what this is measured in? When I have the time capsule as a G router I get a transfer of 130. When I have the TC as an N router, I get a transfer of 200 - 264. Can anyone tell me if these numbers are good, or do I need to do something to get the numbers closer to where they should be.
View 2 Replies View Related.I have files I have received over time on my flatpanel imac. You now guess its really old in computer years. I need to transfer these files onto an external hard drive and from then to my newer computer. The problem is that I want to maintain the details in those files. You know how when you right click a pic or sound file and chose view options/details(I forgot what it is) then you get dated created, date modified, last opened, all this extra information? I really need to save this information specially date created. If I transfer them will the new date created be the date of transferring the files or will it maintain its original date?

View 1 Replies View Relatedscreen share with another Mac on the network that I've recently setup to be a server. When I try logging in, with 'iMac' as the name and 'password' as the password, it says that the details are inaccurate, yet I'm fine to login to view folders. The Mac I'm using to login runs Leopard (lates updates) and the other uses Tiger (latst updates), but still, I'm fine to connect to another Mac using Tiger to share the screen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a new MBP, but I've been having this issue for the last year on my iMac trying to access my companies Intranet through Safari. (Or firefox for that matter..) From an MS blog - http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepoint/arc...19/671735.aspx
Windows SharePoint Services v3 should work according to that link with Safari+2.
This is the version we are using for our intranet, but my Safari just will not allow it. It is forever requesting me for Name and Password. However when I type the said details in, it just pops up and prompts me once again. So I'm guessing this is an authentication issue? It's becoming really annoying and I'd really like to get around it without having to run XP along side OSX just for Intranet page.
The iMac im using now has 10.4.11(tiger), however my brother has recently bought a MacBook. But what i was really wondering is if i am able to use the Leopard CD from the Macbook and install Leopard onto my iMac?(which is using Tiger) Is that possible or will i run into issues along the way? Edit:Also my iMac is using an Intel Processor(Core Duo)

I have a broken Macbook which by the genius bar staff. My machine can be repair for £300. I feel it not necessary
to pay that amount so I am selling the machine for its part etc. However, in order for me to sell the item on ebay, I will need which OS it's running on and all the other details needed to list this item.
My questions is; how to find the details about my computer (I cannot switch on the machine).
I'm using iPhoto 8.0.2 and want to upload to Flickr, but the login data are incorrect in iPhoto, and I see no way of changing the info.Clicking "Flickr" just shows a message "Login failed - The login details or auth token passed were invalid." and no way to change anything. Same happens if I choose "Flickr" from the menu under "share".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running Mac OS X Tiger. A friend wants me to retrieve all of the data from an Address Book Backup sent her on a CD from abroad. Nothing I have done works!
The size of the Backup is 5.6MB.
I have created a new account for the purpose. With Address Book (AB) open, File > Revert to address book backup gave only 2 card entries, one being the User and the other the Apple Mac welcome card.
Is there a way to find CPU details (socket) without physically looking inside machine? I have a Mac Pro 1,1 from 2006. I would like to upgrade CPU. How do I find compatible CPUs?

I am new to the mac (OS10.7.4) having recently transitioned from Windows (and go way back to CPM - for those that remember). I am trying to achieve through finder what I can do in windows explorer by selecting multiple files, selecting properties and then selecting (and then modifying) details. I tried the similar thing on Finder using Get Info instead of Properties but only ended up with multiple windows, one for each file selected (and had to close each one individually! ).
Tried 'option-command-I' on multiple selected files, it worked, but the common tags that I wanted to alter where not available for editing. I can simply achieve the outcome I want by cutting and pasting the files to a usb stick, making the modifications on the windows machine and pasting them back on the mac. This should be a simple basic operating system function regardless of platform - how to find/achieve it!

How do I change the name in the iCloud account details in system preferences? For some reason it has picked up a wrong name and everytime I try to change it it does not memorise the change but keeps defaulting back to the wrong name. It therefore means that everytime I accept an invite for an appointment in Ical it shows the wrong name.

I normally export any email I wish to save as a PDF, for some reason a tax receipt I've just received, when exported as PDF, displays only as the sender's details, i.e. name, address, date sent etc.
I've tried saving as RTF and converting but when it converts to PDF it moves the formatting around so figures aren't in one column anymore.

I have 2 Macs in the house, with a 3rd coming soon. I backup mine to an external hard drive using Time Machine, but neither of the others have a backup plan in place.
One user doesn't really need a robust backup solution, but the person getting a mac soon does.
I was thinking I could kill two birds with one stone if I got a Time Capsule. Now I've read all about how you can partition Time Capsule and stuff like that (and I'm technical enough that I could probably pull that off if I wanted to, but I don't think I do). What I haven't found out is what the Time Capsule does if two users have been syncing to it, and on the next backup it runs out of space.
