Mac Pro :: Connecting A 24" LED Apple Display To 08?

May 7, 2010

My dad has bought a 24" LED Apple Display to use as a secondary screen with his 2008 Mac Pro3,1.

He called Apple before he bought it, and the guy said he needed a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adaptor, so we have one of those... and it doesn't fit.

Hardware :: Connecting XBox 360 To Apple Cinema Display

Feb 21, 2006

I have a 23" Apple Cinema Display (the older model in the clear plastic casing) with a Dual 2ghz G5. I'm not to technically inclined yet as I just got into computers and decided to give macs a try. I just got a xbox 360 and was hoping to connect it to my cinema display. Just wondering if this is possible. From what I understand my G5 has and DVI out which is why I had to get a DVI to ADC adapter for it to work with my display. Microsoft sells a VGA adapter but I'm guessing that will not work with my display. Also if it is possible what type of device would I need to use the monitor with the xbox and the G5 together? (I know I can't use them at the same time but alternate so I don't have to keep unplugging and hooking up cables every time I go between machines).

Hardware :: Connecting 23" Apple Cinema Display To PS3

Sep 4, 2010

I'm wondering if it's possible to connect a 23" Apple Cinema Display (1920x1200) to a PS3. The Cinema Display is one of the older models, and it only has ADC. However, I've heard of switchers such as the Gefen HD Mate that would make this possible. These are hard to find now (and if they are available, they're ridiculously expensive). Are there any other ways to make this work?

MacBook Pro :: Connecting To External Display - Apple Mini Displayport To DVI And DVI To DVI Cable

Oct 7, 2009

I have a presentation tomorrow and need to hook up my MBP to the projector in class. I bought an Apple Mini Displayport to DVI cable, and a DVI to DVI cable. I thought this would be the case, but come to find out the system does not support DVI. So I had to run to Best buy to get a DVI to VGA cable. I tried out the MDP > DVI > VGA rig on my external monitor and got nothing. The screen on my MBP responded by turning blue for a second and then back to normal...but the monitor said "No Signal". Is this some jargon with DVI-D and DVI-I? I need to know by tomorrow morning if I have to run back to the Apple Store and get a Mini Displayport to VGA cable.

IMac :: 27" Doesn't Display Full Resolution On Apple Cinema Display?

Dec 24, 2009

The title says it all really... Quite a simple problem that I can't find any answer to!

I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!

Hardware :: 30" Apple Cinema Display - Is That Resolution Available In A Larger Display?

Aug 14, 2009

I own 23 and 30" Cinema Displays. I like the 23 because everything is larger and easier to read than in the 30". I mostly work in Logic and love that I see lots of things on the 30" but the 23" is much easier on my eyes.Is there such a thing as a display with 2560x1600 (like the 30" Apple) but that is LARGER than a 30 inch so I can see everything bigger in Logic??? Maybe a 34 or 37"? Did a search but haven't come up with anything other than other 30" displays.

Hardware :: Connecting PowerMac To LCD TV Display

Jan 3, 2008

I just bought an LG 32" LCD TV (model 32LB9DB). It has 3 HDMI connections on the back, so, I bought a DVI-HDMI cable and connected that to my PowerMac's DVI port (PowerPC G4, 1.75 GB Ram, ATI Radeon 9000 Pro video card) and then to the TV's HDMI port. I can see my desktop and everything, but, the image quality is very poor no matter what resolution I choose. It looks like the digital signal is being converted to an analog signal before being displayed, so, text is blurry and the overall image looks very poor, not at all like a computer monitor. It looks like a computer image displayed on an analog TV.

I thought that if the TV had digital video input, I would get a 1:1 pixel resolution when attached to my computer, but, I guess not. Am I doing something wrong with the setup? I've already looked at all the TV's settings, and tried lots of different ones, but, the image quality doesn't improve. Here's the detail about my Display:

ATI Radeon 9000 Pro:
Chipset Model:ATY,RV250
Type:Display
Bus:AGP
Slot:SLOT-1
VRAM (Total):64 MB
Vendor:ATI (0x1002)
Device ID:0x4966.........................

OS X ::Connecting Xbox 360 To Mac Pro And Cinema Display

Aug 30, 2009

I've been searching around for some time to try and figure out how to hook up my 360 (and it's HDMI output) to my mac pro (quad, 7Gb ram) and 30" cinema display. Apple lists this on their site: [URL] but it's designed as a video capture card, so I'm not sure if it's appropriate for using simply to play the 360 on. Are there any other pci express cards or units which will allow me to take the output from the 360, input it through my Mac Pro and display it on my cinema display without lag, wonky setups, or hijacking anything?

Mac Pro :: Connecting LCD Display - Full Resolution?

As you know though it's a 30" so it needs "dual-link" DVI from whatever is driving pixels to it. So the iMac, to my knowledge only has Mini Display Port, right? How do I get the iMac to push the 30" at full resolution?

Software :: Connecting ADC Cinema Display To MB Pro

Sep 2, 2010

I have an older 23" Mac HD Cinema Display monitor with an ADC connector. I just purchased a 15" MacBook Pro and want to use the 23" display. The Apple Store where I purchased the notebook sold me a DVI to MiniDisplay. But I was told I would need to buy an ADC DVI adapter that Apple no longer carries. EBay has many Model A1006 DVI ADC adapters for sale. It looked like it has the plug configuration I need to mate the two adapters.

Basically, I need a Female ADC plug that connects to the Cinema Display and a Male DVI to connect to the DVI to MiniDisplay adapter I have now. I called Apple Support and was told "it should work" but they won't guarantee it will since they don't support either the monitor or the A1006 connector. Can anyone who has successfully done what I'm trying to do please let me know? Will the Model A1006 DVI adapter work with the DVI MiniDisplay adapter?

PowerPC :: Connecting External Display With IBook G4

Sep 25, 2010

I got an 1.33 Ghz G4 iBook logic board, given to me as a working part. However, nothing else that goes along. I do have all the basic cabling such as speaker and power button, flex cables and such. Also got myself a new external AC power adapter. Now, I do not intend to use this as a laptop, thus, I will not be looking for a battery, just AC use. However, there's a big problem, I've no screen. I know there's this software hack that allows to connect an external display, in order to have a "mirroring" desktop.

I suppose that'd be achievable if I had the original screen to actually do the hack, but I don't have it. So, is there a way that I can just directly connect an external display and completely forget about the internal one? One more thing, suppose I can't do what I have in mind, if I actually found and borrowed an internal display, would I be alright if after the hack I give the internal display back to it's owner and continue with the external?

PowerPC :: 23" ACD Won't Display When Connecting To Powerbook?

Hardware :: Connecting IMac To A Second Display - What Cables

Jan 9, 2009

I bought a second screen a few days ago, the 23" LG M2394D. I have got it connected to my 24" Aluminium iMac. The resolution of the monitor is 1920x1080 and the iMac is 1920x1200. System preferences lets me assign the different resolutions on the different screens, but the quality on the second screen at 1920x1200 is very dodgy. If i put it to 1650x1050 it looks better, but not as good as the apple display. I have also noticed that the picture is 'too big for the screen', i.e. there is some of the picture outside of the screen area that i cant see. I have the screen connected via the Apple MiniDVI to dvi connector and then a DVi to HDMI cable into the screen. Is it the HDMI that is causing some of the problems? would a straight DVI cable work better? Here is the screen: [URL]

It is not a hardware thing because when I boot into windows 7 I can watch the same file with the same hardware with no issue with darkness.

I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue in snow leopard. I have searched mroogle as well as good and could not find anything.

MacBook Pro :: Connecting Mini Display Port To TV HDMI

Mar 22, 2012

I have a new MacBook Pro 17" computer. I want to play a DVD through the computer to a Toshiba 26" flat screen TV, using a mini port to HDMI.

At first nothing happened, then after much fiddling I got the Apple Spiral Galaxy image on the TV and my usual desktop on the computer. I then discovered that I can move the cursor from my desktop across to the right, where it disappears from my computer screen and appears on the left side of the spiral galaxy on the TV. So it's like I have two side-by-side screens, the Apple galaxy on the left, my computer on the right. In addition, I keep my dock on the right side and it's barely visible on the right side of the galaxy screen.

Incidentally if I play the DVD I can drag and drop it to the right so it slides off of my computer and onto the galaxy. But I know that's not the real solution.

Info:
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
