View 4 RepliesI'm new to the forum, but not necessarily new to Apple. I have a aluminum MacBook and have it connected via display port to a Dell monitor (have a cinema display on order from macmall due in tomorrow!). My question is while I have the MB connected to the display, is there a way I can have the laptop lid closed and prevent the computer from going to sleep?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been searching around for some time to try and figure out how to hook up my 360 (and it's HDMI output) to my mac pro (quad, 7Gb ram) and 30" cinema display. Apple lists this on their site: [URL] but it's designed as a video capture card, so I'm not sure if it's appropriate for using simply to play the 360 on. Are there any other pci express cards or units which will allow me to take the output from the 360, input it through my Mac Pro and display it on my cinema display without lag, wonky setups, or hijacking anything?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI know this has been asked a hundred times; can you hook up your 360 to cinema display but all the threads are from years ago and people keep saying there will be converters and such soon.
Mac Pro, 30" ACD, Apple LED 24" display, and 360 and I have a uMBP.
I am using a 23" cinema display as my main screen connected to my mac book pro. It is working fine but I was wondering if I could remove the usb connection leaving only the DVI connection and the Firewire connection. (So I have one more usb port to plug stuff) I know for an IPod both were provided in case you don't have a firewire in your laptop when only 1 is needed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an older 23" Mac HD Cinema Display monitor with an ADC connector. I just purchased a 15" MacBook Pro and want to use the 23" display. The Apple Store where I purchased the notebook sold me a DVI to MiniDisplay. But I was told I would need to buy an ADC DVI adapter that Apple no longer carries. EBay has many Model A1006 DVI ADC adapters for sale. It looked like it has the plug configuration I need to mate the two adapters.
Basically, I need a Female ADC plug that connects to the Cinema Display and a Male DVI to connect to the DVI to MiniDisplay adapter I have now. I called Apple Support and was told "it should work" but they won't guarantee it will since they don't support either the monitor or the A1006 connector. Can anyone who has successfully done what I'm trying to do please let me know? Will the Model A1006 DVI adapter work with the DVI MiniDisplay adapter?
I have a 23" Apple Cinema Display (the older model in the clear plastic casing) with a Dual 2ghz G5. I'm not to technically inclined yet as I just got into computers and decided to give macs a try. I just got a xbox 360 and was hoping to connect it to my cinema display. Just wondering if this is possible. From what I understand my G5 has and DVI out which is why I had to get a DVI to ADC adapter for it to work with my display. Microsoft sells a VGA adapter but I'm guessing that will not work with my display. Also if it is possible what type of device would I need to use the monitor with the xbox and the G5 together? (I know I can't use them at the same time but alternate so I don't have to keep unplugging and hooking up cables every time I go between machines).
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if it's possible to connect a 23" Apple Cinema Display (1920x1200) to a PS3. The Cinema Display is one of the older models, and it only has ADC. However, I've heard of switchers such as the Gefen HD Mate that would make this possible. These are hard to find now (and if they are available, they're ridiculously expensive). Are there any other ways to make this work?

Also heard something about possible 27" cinema displays coming out soon from apple.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am actually trying to decide if to get the old 30" cinema display or not.I'm a graphic designer and my fear is that apple will never make a matte display...Here in Italy it's still sold in the apple store. I have the unibody macbook pro, and so I've been reading through reviews now for a week ... my biggest concern is the dual-link dvi adapter... I still see posts (August or September 2010) with people experiencing issues, even with the firmware 1.3!I wanted to ask you people if I should go for it or dig the 27 inch even though it's glossy... I have a few people in the office (also graphic designers) working on iMacs and got used to the glossy.

I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!
I own 23 and 30" Cinema Displays. I like the 23 because everything is larger and easier to read than in the 30". I mostly work in Logic and love that I see lots of things on the 30" but the 23" is much easier on my eyes.Is there such a thing as a display with 2560x1600 (like the 30" Apple) but that is LARGER than a 30 inch so I can see everything bigger in Logic??? Maybe a 34 or 37"? Did a search but haven't come up with anything other than other 30" displays.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, I need a new monitor for my old G5 as the old monitor for it went bust. Apple does not make the old displays that came with the unit anymore and the only available monitor is the new LED ones ? but they all come with mini display ports
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a display to use with my Powerbook G4 12". I am in love with the 30" cinema display, but according to technical support today, my setup is not compatible (supposedly, but the person on the phone didn't sound to sure). I have a mini DVI, but the 30" requires a dual DVI. I think the 23" display requires DVI, which I can attain with an adapter. Does anyone have suggestions for what I can use with my computer? The bigger the better for me. Also what do you think of the older (plastic case) apple displays?
View 1 Replies View RelatedPurchased a brand new 27" i7 imac a few weeks ago, display is awesome!!! I was using my old 28" LCD monitor from my PC and running dual displays on the iMac. The 28" LCD monitor annoyed me a bit because i could not get the same color/crispness/brightness that i got from the iMac. ( also it has a Matt screen and i am more into the glossy screens ) So i found a used 24" cinema display locally. Paid 600.00 and it came with 2 yrs of AppleCare. It is only 7 months old ( still have 5 months under orignal warranty ) Got home, hooked it up and it had a "hint" of yellowness to it, It wasn't a exact image of my iMacs display...I tried to calibrate it also, but it still had just a HINT of yellowness....Nothing at all major, but enough for me to be annoyed with it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2008 Mac Pro with ATI Radeon 2600XT and a 30" Cinema Display. I am considering buying a Wacom Contiq 24 HD screen/tablet and would like to know if the Radeon 2600 will drive both or will I need a second graphics card? If so, do I buy another 2600 or can someone suggest something suitable?
Info:
Mac Pro (Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.7.4), 30" Cinema Display, 10Gb RAM, 2 Tb
I am contemplating an upgrade from my 2.2 / 4G MBP with 128M VRAM, as i find that it often chokes on simpliest HD movie files created with a DSLR (weekish video), regardless whether I use it with or without the 30 inch Cinema display. So, I am curious how the new Air will run an external monitor, and whether it has enough juice to at least display the HD movies shot with a DSLR without dropped frames/jerkiness. (I guess I am asking two questions in one).
View 11 Replies View RelatedThis is sad I don't know this, but I've only used Macs for a year and have only used a Macbook. This weekend I bought a cinema display to go with it. I plugged in the DVI cable, but was expecting there would also be a cable from the display into the wall socket? The display has four cables coming out of it, the DVI, USB, firewire and another. I clicked the display's power button, but only get a black screen.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI am thinking of updating my home studio setup which is currently running a Macbook pro 13" 2.26 with 4gb of ram. I was first thinking of upgrading to an iMac with a 3.06Ghz processor and 27" display. However, I now think I might be ok staying with my MacBook and upgrading to one of the two displays;- The 30" Cinema display- Or the 24" Cinema LED displayAt nearly half the price I am leaning towards the 24" display. I am using logic and ableton. What does everyone think and anyone had any experiences running logic and or ableton with a MacBook and display.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a new 24" LED Cinema Display today but once I got it home I found that it doesn't want to charge my MacBook's battery. It said "Not Charging" when I clicked the battery icon in the menu bar but I really thought nothing of it. Then, while I was transferring files from my external HDD to the MacBook everything just turned off completely. I feared the worst and when I tried booting my MacBook it simply would not turn on. It seems like the Cinema Display had bled my MacBook dry - it had no charge in the battery and I had to do an NVRAM reset to get it to charge again over the power adapter. Still when I connect my Cinema Display to the Magsafe it does not charge the computer, yet it does charge fine when I connect it to the MacBook power adapter. Seems like a faulty Cinema Display to me, but it was an 80 mile round trip to the store to buy it, I don't really want to have to go back. Has anyone else had this problem?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking of picking up the 27'' when it arrives, but I don't know how I'm going to be able to use the speakers in the new display? It's a June 2009 Macbook Pro. 15'', 2.8Ghz stock model.
I have a new Macbook Pro runing OS X 10.7. I want to connect it to my old 20" Cinema display (aluminium one that I bought with a G5 around 7 years ago). I've got got the Mini Display Port to DVI adaptor, but this doesn't seem to work - it won't detect the display.

The cord coming out of the display is one big cord that turns into 4 cords (1. power, 2. firewire, 3. usb, and 4. the monitor plug that has 2 sets of 9 prongs and 1 dash). I just got a refurbished macbook pro 2.3 GHz Intel core i7 built in Feb 2011.Any ideas how to connect..On another note ... with my wireless apple mouse, what was once swipe down meant scroll down on the screen ... now it's swipe down is scroll up ... is there a way to reverse that?

I'm trying to set up a MacBook (White) and 30" Cinema Display - I'm using an Apple mini DVI to DVI adaptor. The max resolution I can set the macbook to run at is 1280 X 800 and the Cinema display looks all blocky and not good - I know the macbook is not capable of running the 30" displays native resolution of 2560 X 1600 but I thought DVI could go up to 1600 X 1200? I installed the 30" cinema display software / drivers - Is there anything else I can do in Tiger to increase the maximum external display resolution?
