I have been trying to set-up an external LCD tv to my 13in MacBook Pro (mid-2010). I am connecting it through a mini-dvi to HDMI adapter. But on the the 32" Dynex LCD the top menu bar and a lil bit on the bottom and sides are not showing and I cant figure out how to adjust the screen. The resolution is 720p.
View 2 RepliesI've connected up my external monitor, which is a bigger Samsung 1600x900 and and I'm having some issues.. I'm trying to get the MacBook to recognize the Samsung when I plug it in and automatically adjust the settings, so I don't have to muck around with the settings every-time. Is there anyway of doing this? oh and disabling the MacBook's display so it doesn't detect it as a second monitor?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a presentation tomorrow and need to hook up my MBP to the projector in class. I bought an Apple Mini Displayport to DVI cable, and a DVI to DVI cable. I thought this would be the case, but come to find out the system does not support DVI. So I had to run to Best buy to get a DVI to VGA cable. I tried out the MDP > DVI > VGA rig on my external monitor and got nothing. The screen on my MBP responded by turning blue for a second and then back to normal...but the monitor said "No Signal". Is this some jargon with DVI-D and DVI-I? I need to know by tomorrow morning if I have to run back to the Apple Store and get a Mini Displayport to VGA cable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got an 1.33 Ghz G4 iBook logic board, given to me as a working part. However, nothing else that goes along. I do have all the basic cabling such as speaker and power button, flex cables and such. Also got myself a new external AC power adapter. Now, I do not intend to use this as a laptop, thus, I will not be looking for a battery, just AC use. However, there's a big problem, I've no screen. I know there's this software hack that allows to connect an external display, in order to have a "mirroring" desktop.
I suppose that'd be achievable if I had the original screen to actually do the hack, but I don't have it. So, is there a way that I can just directly connect an external display and completely forget about the internal one? One more thing, suppose I can't do what I have in mind, if I actually found and borrowed an internal display, would I be alright if after the hack I give the internal display back to it's owner and continue with the external?
I'm trying to using my iMac wireless keyboad for my macbook pro while my iMac is in external display mode but I can't get the keyboad to connect. I've tried disconnecting the wireless keyboard from my iMac but it won't go into target display mode without the keyboad. Can I used my iMac wireless keyboard with my Macbook pro while my iMac is being used as an external display?

I've tried re-installing and updating every possible graphics related driver for Windows 7 i cannot for love or toffee get the bloody thing to even recognize my display. I am using a 26" tv as an external display, it works on OS X (very easily), windows XP (also very easily) and even Vista (also easily) and connecting through a DVI/HDMI connector. Why not windows 7? I've scoured the web for answers but can't find anything. Is anyone at least in the same boat as me? I really need this solved soon

i can't change the settings on my tv, and the display settings on the mbp are limited. is there any app which can adjust the screen size manually? such as a zoom out tool?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy macbook pro has been connecting to my TV appropriately for months. The display is suddenly changing to a different default when I connect now. It was fine two weeks ago and has done 3 software updates in between. I have not loaded other new software. When the thunderbolt connection is made, both screens turn blue, then both display a screen resolution formatting that doesn't fit the screens.

My external display (HP w2207) seems to conflict with my MacBook Pro (15 inch Retina display, early 2013) since I upgraded MacBook OS to 10.9.4.The external display works at initial boot of Mac but does not work after OS sleeps and I attempt to awaken, and while the external display is not waking, the Retina display flashes through different screen views, which only partially reflect my normal screen, or do not reflect my normal screen at all.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new MacBook Pro 17" computer. I want to play a DVD through the computer to a Toshiba 26" flat screen TV, using a mini port to HDMI.
At first nothing happened, then after much fiddling I got the Apple Spiral Galaxy image on the TV and my usual desktop on the computer. I then discovered that I can move the cursor from my desktop across to the right, where it disappears from my computer screen and appears on the left side of the spiral galaxy on the TV. So it's like I have two side-by-side screens, the Apple galaxy on the left, my computer on the right. In addition, I keep my dock on the right side and it's barely visible on the right side of the galaxy screen.
Incidentally if I play the DVD I can drag and drop it to the right so it slides off of my computer and onto the galaxy. But I know that's not the real solution.

I have a aluminum MacBook and have it connected via display port to a Dell monitor (have a cinema display on order from macmall due in tomorrow!). View 6 Replies View RelatedWhile using Google Sketchup and several other prgrams concurrently my macbook air cpu heats up substantiall. I like keeping the air "open" to allow for maximum heat disipation but of course this keeps the air screen on while I only want to use my external monitor. Is the only way to turn of the air screen turning down the brightness and using the "Mirror Display" option or is there another setting which alows my to utilize only the external display while the screen is open on the air?

I just got a Samsung 2333sw monitor. When I plug into my 128GB SSD Rev B, it automatically uses the samsung as 2nd monitor. The screen is fully covered.
But when I select mirror (using the samsung as primary screen and turned the brightness of my MBA to the lowest), the samsung LCD picture is not clear and the screen is like 4:3.
Does this means that MBA can't support ext LCD as primary screen at 1080 resolution?
How about for those who has the new Apple 24" Cinema display? Can you use that as primary screen?
I've had a 500GB WD My Passport for about 2 months now. It was working perfectly, until last week when it didn't want to connect properly (i.e. I would connect it 10 times, and about 6 of the times it would work). Now, it doesn't seem to connect at all. I can feel the HDD vibrating inside, so it is getting power, but it's not showing at all. What's very weird is that it doesn't even show on Disk Utility. I'm completely lost as to what I should do. I need to either get it to work again or reformat it somehow, because I'm going on a trip next week and need the space on it.

As the title states. I am looking for an external display that matches the display on my black MacBook. I want one with the same gloss finish as my MacBook, this way I can calibrate both screens to look the same. That way when I switch screens it doesn't look different.
Anyone know of a screen that looks identical to the (previous generation) MacBook? I was thinking of getting a Samsung T240 but it has a different finish. How are ASUS screens? Any screens out there that have the same gloss finish?
I've had my Macbook for about 3 years and have always been able to connect it up to my external monitor using a mini dvi cable.
A couple of weeks ago my hard drive died and since using the new one I cannot connect.
The external monitor shows my wallpaper but nothing else, no desktop, no dock etc...
So I just bought a SimpleTech Simple Drive 60gb to use on my MacBook with Mac OS X 10.4.11. I followed the instructions and plugged the Mini-B part of the USB cable in the hard drive and the other end of the USB plug in my MacBook. The instructions tell me I am supposed to see the drive pop up on my desktop but I see absolutely nothing.

1. miniDP -> DVI

and connect different displays. Or will there be troubles because of the double converters (first to DVI and then to VGA or HDMI).
I ordered a VGA cable and a minidisplayport to VGA adapter from ebay, and my lcd keeps saying no signal when I plug in all the cables. I am at a loss as to how to get this to work.
The MBP won't detect any external displays.
i'm hoping someone can help me out on this little problemmy usual set up is a pair of speakers connected with jacks via an m-audio usb audio interface, with an external monitor connected via mini-dvi to dvi.now for some reason my audio interface has randomly broken (on a side note, could a power cut have somehow broken a usb peripheral connected to my macbook whilst it was asleep?) so i've hooked up my speakers to the line out to rca. Now for some reason, when i plug the mini dvi connector into my macbook i get an incredible amount of hum. not just a little, alot!
