Router is Linksys WRT54G using WEP. It says I'm connected to the router, but I have no internet. If I connect through wired ethernet it works perfectly fine, but Airport is just not working?

My question, I have 2 pc (dell laptops), UMBP, 2 desktops one macpro and dell workstation, ps3 and I want to connect all gadgets with airport and want to connect all gadgets with USB HDD. I know that PC and Mac will work but what is with ps3? Can I watch my shows from usb connected to airport on PS3?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've got an iBook G3 with the B AirPort card installed that has worked fine until trying to connect it to the Linksys WRT610N. No matter what settings I use, AirPort cannot connect to the router. I've updated the router's firmware to the latest version, and am only using WPA, as WPA2 is not supported by the card. I've switch between TKIP and AES, which hasn't helped either. Also, I've changed the router between everymode (Mixed, Mixed B+G only, B only), and that hasn't worked either.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've had my Mac for 3 years and never had a problem with Airport Express. If I did, I would usually turn it off and then on again and it solved the problem. The last two weeks I've been using a wi-fi hotspot near my home until I get a proper internet connection at home. Suddenly, my internet stopped working. The airport recognzies the link and still connects but the internet page says i'm not connected to the internet. I've tried using diagnostics and it says it can't fix my problem. In diagnostics, the first 3-4 lights turn on, but the last two are either yellow or red. I've changed the time to make sure it was correct, I've re-started the computer several times and it still doesn't work. I don't know what it is that is not working. The airport recognizes the signal, yet I get no internet connection. And I haven't downloaded anything recently.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a 27" iMac about two months ago, and recently it's been having trouble connecting to the internet via airport. Sometimes it has no trouble, other times, no matter how many times I put in my WEP password and hit connect, it just gives me the 'connection timeout error'. Basically, our whole household was having internet troubles about a month ago, but they mysteriously stopped for everyone else except me after a week or two. My housemates all have PC's, and are able to connect fine now. I also have a MacBook as well, which also has no trouble picking up the wireless. One of the weird quirks about this problem is that if my MacBook is connected and moved to sit right next to my iMac, I can often get the iMac to connect. And if it drops the connection, I can refresh a page on the MacBook and suddenly the internet works again on my iMac.
And I also discovered that if I move my iMac to the right about 30cms, it sometimes connects. This suggests that maybe I'm out of range for my wireless, but how am I able to connect at other times when the iMac in it's normal place? Anyway, I've ruled out a fault with the wireless itself, because, as I mentioned, every other computer can connect fine. I've also tried going into the system prefs and renewing the DHCP lease, which *sometimes* works, but usually doesn't. It has been connecting fine for about 2 days, but tonight it started acting up again. It's connected now, but it's pretty sporadic and keeps dropping the connection. In case you need to know, it's one of the new 27" iMacs, the usual duo core not the quad core. 4gb memory, etc.

I just set up AX, and my iMac and Macbook Pro hook up to it wirelessly with ease. But the PC will connect, but refuses to connect to the internet.The network securtiy is WPA2 - Personal.
I've powercycled a few time, with no avail.
Is there a missing driver or something?
I cannot get my PC to access the web through my wireless connection to AirPort Express. It worked fine with our older Belkin wireless router but when we upgraded to AirPort Express it detects the wireless network but when I go to connect to the web and type in the network password it scrolls forever. If I go into the AirPort Utility settings and turn off the security ("WPS/WPS2 personal" changed to "none") then the PC can access the web via the wireless network but I don't want an unsecured connection.

Can I cable the AirPort via Cat5 to the same router and use that configuration to push music from iTunes to the Stereo receiver? All the configurations I see in the AirPort documentation show the input to it being wireless.

However, I have a computer in another room that is only about 30 ft away from the AE router and sometimes the signal is very week while other times it won't connect at all. Yet, I can pick up other networks from other houses just fine.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a D-Link Extreme router, and the WiFi has issues with my MacBook and such every so often and it drives me absolutely crazy. But I have 2 wired computers and a Xbox 360 that never have a problem plugged into the router via ethernet. I was wondering if I bought a Airport Express and plugged it into the 4th port of my router rather then into modem would it have enough juice to transfer the WiFi? I don't want to spend the extra money on a more expensive router for some plugs and WiFi if I can still use my router for wired and send a wire to the Airport for wireless. Yet I don't want to spend the money on the Airport Express if it can't be used like that like some other routers can.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook air, but this seems to apply to any mac's with airport. I connect once to our corporate wireless network, I type in the password and it connects. On occasions, when I start up the computer, it doesn't connect and a window pops up with my network listed but it says "none of your preferred networks are available". When I first connect I do check off remember this network. So why isn't it remembering it?
When I go into system preference and click on network, select airport and click on advanced, that network does appear under the preferred networks. Does anyone know why its not letting me automatically connect the next time? Sometimes its ok, sometimes it doesn't even know I connected to this network before.
I have macbook intel 2.0 GHz and Mac OS X 10.4.11.I had no problems with connecting with belkin g plus mimo router (f5d9230-4) before, but suddenly it dropped down the connection.It was about two months ago, in meantime I was trying to reset modem and router many times, I did "restore factory default" on the router and set it up again, I was trying to change location in network system preferences, but it doesn't work.I see my router as available in airport networks list, but I am not able to connect to it, it shows "password is not valid" when I'm trying to do it by network setup assistant, and "there was an error joining the airport network" when by airport scroll down menu.
I was also trying to set router as a open network, or to change the password.My other wireless devices like iphone 3g have no problems with setting up such connection, but my macbook must be wired if I want to access internet at the moment

I have the Airport Extreme one version back without the dual antennas and I'm trying to make up for that with my old linksys router. I want my airport extreme to transmit wireless N only! and my linksys to transmit wireless G only!! configuration setting to make this happen??
To make a long story short, I moved to my girlfriend's place yesterday and I plugged in my iMac (20" 2.16 Ghz Intel C2D, 2GB RAM, ATI Radeon X1600/256MB VRAM) and I've been trying to connect to the Internet. Now, I couldn't have my iMac plugged directly were the router is located. Back at home, I never had any problems since I had my ethernet cable plugged into my iMac.
So this was my first time trying to connect via wireless or Airport (if that's even the same thing). Basically, I choose the network to log in and typed in the WEP key. I didn't get an error message so I assumed the key was fine. Also, it says that I'm connected to the network I'm on. However, when I try to get on Safari or MSN or something says I'm not connected to the Internet.
I own an AirPort Extreme (Dual-Band) and a MBP (2.2 SR). When I hold option down and click the AirPort icon in the menu bar, it shows the transmit rate and the channel its on. Mine says it's connected to channel 2 and I'm getting 104 TR. Why am I not connecting to the 149 channel?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 1.5TB external HDD that I am using with my iMac. But I have just added a MBP, so now I have two computers that need backing up. I was thinking of time capsule, but someone suggested I just get an airport extreme and hang the 1.5TB drive off of that. Is that do-able? But also the MBP only has 2 USB ports (my old Dell had 4). If I got the extreme, could I split the USB port and have both a HDD AND a printer off the extreme? Now that I say this out loud (or type outloud), this seems unlikely, but I thought I should check.

My 360 is in another room.. and while I have a long enough ethernet cable to hardwire it to the router, that's pretty inconvenient and doesn't really look that good. I've binged/googled for this, and although i found some instruction it really didn't base it on the D-link. and i'm not sure how similar it gets.
I connect to a wireless router in work and at home, for home i just set the setting through firefox to connect "auto-detect proxy settings for this network" and it works fine, but in work, this does not work, i have to set it to "Manual proxy configuration" with an ip address the it department give me. What i would like to know are 2 things:
1) Am i doing the right thing my changing the settings in Firefox, or should these setting be configured outside of the browser?
2) How can i set this up, so i don't have to keep changing it form auto to manual each time.
my airport is not connecting automatically to the internet although i checked the automatic connection box.

Not sure if this is possible, I'm sure there's someone out there who would be able to tell me either way. I've got a D Link router thats plugged into my 50mb in my lounge. I'd like to put my airport express in my kitchen and pair them so its the same network. The reason for this is that I have my HIFI in the kitchen which will be plugged into my airport so I can use it as remote speakers for my itunes while I'm still connected to the 50mb and D Link. Is this possible?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased an Apple Airport Express and have successfully set up a wireless network, connecting AirTunes and my printer. However when reading through the manual (I know who reads the manual nowadays) i discovered something interesting. Chapter 3: Setting Up Your Airport Express, page 25, states the following, "If you connect a USB printer or hard disk to your Airport Express, all of the computers on the network can print to the printer or share files on the hard disk." The Apple website clearly indicates that sharing a Hard Disk through an Airport Express is not possible. Is my discovery a one of dodgy print of the manual or are other people seeing this as well? A possibility that Apple could be enabling AirDisk use on the Airport Express in the near future?

Although, what happens is because of the location of the linksys router, my signal comes and goes weekly. I was wondering if I were to purchase an Airport Express, would I be able to use is as an extender/booster with the existing network that I already have? I have it connected to the network wirelessly and it shows as connected in XP Network places but how do I get it to see the hard drive which I have connected directly to the Airport Extreme Base Station?
