Hardware :: Connecting A IP Camera To My Airport Extreme?
Jul 19, 2010
I'm trying to connect a D-Link webcam to my Airport Extreme. Could someone give me basic instruction on connecting this cam to my router?
I've binged/googled for this, and although i found some instruction it really didn't base it on the D-link. and i'm not sure how similar it gets.

My mom has a Compaq Presario CQ60 (here).
I just set up AX, and my iMac and Macbook Pro hook up to it wirelessly with ease. But the PC will connect, but refuses to connect to the internet. The network securtiy is WPA2 - Personal.
I've powercycled a few time, with no avail.
Is there a missing driver or something?

I have my AE set up in my office where three computers and two printers are picking up its signal just fine. However, I have a computer in another room that is only about 30 ft away from the AE router and sometimes the signal is very week while other times it won't connect at all. Yet, I can pick up other networks from other houses just fine.

I own an AirPort Extreme (Dual-Band) and a MBP (2.2 SR). When I hold option down and click the AirPort icon in the menu bar, it shows the transmit rate and the channel its on. Mine says it's connected to channel 2 and I'm getting 104 TR. Why am I not connecting to the 149 channel?

I have a 1.5TB external HDD that I am using with my iMac. But I have just added a MBP, so now I have two computers that need backing up. I was thinking of time capsule, but someone suggested I just get an airport extreme and hang the 1.5TB drive off of that. Is that do-able? But also the MBP only has 2 USB ports (my old Dell had 4). If I got the extreme, could I split the USB port and have both a HDD AND a printer off the extreme? Now that I say this out loud (or type outloud), this seems unlikely, but I thought I should check.

I just purchased an Airport Extreme and it works wonders with our computers and phones, but when I tried setting up my XBOX 360 to XBox live I keep getting an error saying that I need to enable my UPNP to use all features of XBOX live. Anyone know how I can enable this on the Airport utility?

My Airport Extreme network is working fine. The problem is that I'm sharing a hard drive which works fine with the Macs but my obligatory Windows XP computer won't see the hard drive. I have it connected to the network wirelessly and it shows as connected in XP Network places but how do I get it to see the hard drive which I have connected directly to the Airport Extreme Base Station?

I just bought my first Mac from ebay i'm a new user and don't know much about macs, I was using my ethernet to surf the web until my belking router comes in. So this is what I have done so far my desktop is wired to the router running XP the connection is fine and my setup is a WPA, my macbook is running 10.5.6 Lepord my router says the MB is connected to the router but I'm unable to connect to the internet. TCP/IP is set to DHCP my airport says status on, and that it has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet I've already have my MB set to share web, internet, files & printers on my network. Is there something i missed or i'm doing wrong I called belking and got no problems with the router we used many setup changes and I ran a hardware test on my MB and no problems were found.

Trying to connect a new Airport Extreme Base Station to my iMac. Was hoping I could do so without connecting the AEBS to the imac via ethernet--is that possible? Why i try to do so, AEBS setup asks for my DHCP settings,etc.. If I connect AEBS to the computer via ethernet, will that work and will I be able to establish a network? Sure isn't going the way the "easy instructions" claim.

I apologize in advance if this has been answered before (I couldn't find an answer using search). I have an Airport Extreme wireless network in my home that works great. I just got an xbox 360 with the latest wireless adapter ("N" type) and when I try to set up the xbox to work wirelessly, the setup "fails" - xbox either can't "see" my home wireless network or else can't attach to it. Any suggestions how I can fix this problem?

I have the newest AirPort Extreme that transmits simultaneously in 2.4GHz and 5GHz. It's been great. My speeds have jumped 2-3x what they were before I upgraded to this router. Now, I'm getting 28-30MB per second download speeds. Before this I was getting 8-10MB per second.
But, I have a problem. My MBP connects great to the AirPort Extreme (802.11n at 2.4GHz or 5GHz). One PC desktop works great with the AirPort Extreme (via Ethernet). And, I have another PC laptop connecting at good speeds (802.11g). But, I have one other PC that sees and connects to the Airport Extreme signal (802.11g) but nothing happens. It's like a garden hose with very little to no water. The signal strength is very strong and, again, the computer DOES recognize the signal. It's an XP desktop (4 or 5 years old) with an 802.11g card inside.
Any thoughts as to why I have this problem with this one computer? It connected fine with my prior wireless router. It's a new problem.
By the way, the Airport Extreme is setup with all of the normal defaults and "automatic" settings, WPA2, etc. My cable provider is Comcast and the router gets it signal from a new modem. There are no other

I need to know how I can set up a system so that I can use the printer and browse the internet wirelessly on the MacBook Pro and have the non-wireless PC connect to the internet and use the printer as well.
It sounds confusing, so hopefully one of you guys will be able to understand it and maybe quickly draw a labeled diagram to show me.

I currently have Qwest DSL and have the 2wire 2700 hg modem. I have attached the picture of it. I currently have a Windows XP computer that is now a 2 1/2 year old computer (blah it was a hand me down). The Windows XP PC is currently hard-wired to the modem. I now have the 802.11n version of the AEBS. This is going to be used for my current Macbook. I have an office downstairs so I will be doing wirelessly. I want to use the 802.11n only option with my Macbook. Also another reason I want to disable the 2wire built in wireless feature and have it replaced by the AEBS is because Qwest is not doing anymore firmware upgrades for the 2wire 2700HG modem. By the way, my family sometimes visit and use 802.11g only on the devices they use. I know AEBS supports that. I just hope 2wire wireless feature can be disabled without no issues. These are the things I am wondering:
1. Has anybody run a similar setup to mine? Any things I should consider? Any pros or cons?
2. Should I turn off the 2wire modem firewall and turn on the firewall option on the Airport Extreme base station or vice versa?
3. Should I leave alone the NAT feature on the modem be left alone?
4. Does this kind of setup have to be run in "bridged" mode?
That's all the questions I have for now. I hope someone can help with this. I looked and looked for a similar question to these questions but could not find a recent forum post to mine.

Reading through the forums I haven't got a clear picture on whether this idea will work, so I was hoping someone could clear it up for me. It seems to have been clouded by people having problems with Airport-connected drives in Snow Leopard.I want to partition a hard drive and connect it through USB to an Airport Extreme. Then I want to use each partition as separate Time Machine backups for my iMac and MacBook.1. If connecting a partitioned hard drive, will all partitions be accessible through Airport Extreme?2. Can I use partitions connected in this way as Time Machine backups?3. Will there be problems if both my iMac and MacBook try to backup to the Time Machines at the same time?

Ok, I feel like a doofus, but I need some help if someone is willing.
I bought an Airport Extreme and installed per instructions on the Mac partition. The Extreme replaces an Express as the base unit, the express now extends the range of the network (and is now connected to my stereo system). So, the "new" network that was set up has the exact same name as the old one when it was just the Express.
Everything works fine on the mac side. When I go to my Win XP side (Boot camp) it sees the network but says it cannot connect. To put is simply, I can't remeber what I need to do. I haven't had to mess with this stuff since I set it up almost 2 years ago. Do I need to set up a new network?... I am just drawing a blank. Is keeping the same name for the "new" network part of my problem?

Simple question: Of the new features in the new AirPort Extreme Base Station, which of these could become available to the old AirPort Extreme Base Station via a software/firmware update? I have to think that at least some of the new features don't actually require new hardware. Just trying to figure out if I want to shell out $179 for a new AEBS when my current AEBS works pretty well as it is.

I have an Airport Extreme, with two USB hard drives connected to it. The Airport Extreme shares these disks to my wireless network via Airport Disks.
Upstairs I have an Airport Express, that wirelessly connects to my Airport Extreme downstairs, and extends the wireless network so I get a good wireless reception upstairs.
My problem is, that it does not seem like me Airport Express does a good job of forwarding my 2 USB Airport Disks to the extended wireless network upstairs.
For example, when I use the AirVideo iPhone app to stream video from my USB Airport Disks I get a server connection error when I go upstairs and the iPad/iPhone switches to the Airport Express networks. I cannot reconnect as long as it is on the Airport Express network. If I turn the airport Express off, and thus switch to the poor wireless reception from the Airport Extreme, I can connect to the USB Airport disks again.
The Airport Express is connected to the Airport Extreme in bridged mode.

This might seem an odd question but I had to replace my last Airport Extreme base station as it was faulty....I've now got the newer "Dual Band Extreme Base Station". I want to avoid any conflicts with my old settings for my wireless network with my MBP. Should I uninstall the last version of Airport Utility? Is there anything else anyone would recommend before i install or connect the new hardware/software?

Can it? If it can, would Airtunes still work like normal.
In other words, can I be connected to my Airport EXTREME and Airtunes would still work since the Airport EXTREME and EXPRESS are using the same network wifi-name (the Express is just extending the Extreme's range).

The latest upgrade of AIrport Utility doesn't support my Airport extreme, but the old version 5.6.1 says it doesn't work in Lion. How was I managing my Airport before th 6 update? What do I do now? Will I have to get a new Airport?
I have DSL service. I have an iPod Touch and an iPad 1 that I'm trying to connect. I just upgraded both iDevices to iOS5. I've been having trouble keeping an internet connection live for them, but now I can't even get the wi-fi to connect.

Just bought a new Airport Time Capsule 3TB for backup purposes and to use as the main router in my home (model number A1470 the latest tall one). I was originally using an AirPort Extreme (model number 1408 approx 6" square and 1' tall) for my main router. Â
I got the TC setup and putting out good wifi signal, but would like to take my Extreme and extend it off the TC to boost signal in other parts of my house, but having some difficulty. I searched the forums and found setup instructions to do this, but I get a message saying, "unexpected error. Try again." Well, tried again and still no luck.Â
