I need to know the maximum amount of RAM that can be supported by Mac OS X Lion Server. I know that the amount of RAM that can be installed also depends on the number of RAM slots found on the motherboard but I need to know the actual limits of the OS.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought my Macbook Pro in February or March of 2006 and it's still running strong. The hard drive, however, is full and I'd like to get a new, larger, faster one. I'm aware that I need a SATA drive and that it's form factor should be 2.5". I'm also aware that the max transfer rate for my drive is 1.5 Gb/s, can I use one that is 3.0 Gb/s? I think the current drive is 4200 or 5400 RPM, can I use one that is 7200RPM (this computer is mostly used while on AC power)? What about maximum capacity? Are there any limitations due to BIOS or the motherboard? Here is the drive I'm looking at, please let me know if this will work or if you have a similar, better solution.

Alright I have a current rev Mini 1.83ghz, and want to upgrade the stock 80gb HD, wondering if this drive will work. [URL]. I want the 7200RPM, but wasn't sure 3.0GB would work on the intel controller, thinking it may only support 1.5GB. When attaching a simple PDF (size 15.8MB) to a simple OS Lion email, when going out it expands to 21.4 MB. This exceeds my ISPs 20MB maximum file size. Why a simple PDF would expand by almost 5 MB. The same email without the attachment is only 400 KB.

I have a server in our DMZ that connects to Active Directory LDAP server (non-ssl over 389) but no objects actually show up in the directory editor. I get a green light in my Network Account Server, but queries against LDAP return no results. My end goal is to be able to dictate to Profile Manager what LDAP groups are allowed to enroll devices. I tested on our internal network on a test server and get the same results. Anyone have any luck connecting a Lion Server to LDAP and actually being able to view and utilize users and groups?

after being FORCED to upgrade my 2007 2.66 Dual Core Xeon to Lion in order to migrate my iPhone/MobileMe stuff to iCloud, my dual-screen desktop is now mired in this inane implementation of 'full-screen' mode in Lion. I won't even start with that... Even worse, the full-screen mode button in the upper right corner of windows is the area I (previously) used to select a different window when multiple browser windows are up. It's driving me crazy, and I wish there was some sort of 'Spaces' implementation that is similar to what we had. But looking forward to hoping that perhaps Mountain Lion will fix the ills of Lion, I now see that only the 2008 Mac Pro towers will be supported, even though they are nearly identical in architecture (I think). Even our 2007 iMac is supported!Â
So, after having been forced away from Leopard (which was working for me just fine, thank you), I now find myself being left out on the doorstep by Apple with my high-end Mac Pro, for no apparent reason. Is anyone else out there in this situation? Does anyone else out there know a hack out of this full screen mode fiasco? Â It seems to me that Apple's decision to leave behind the first generation Intel Mac Pro is arbitrary at best, one of those indirect pokes to try and get us to upgrade hardware. It would be one thing if the computer wasn't fully functional in this 'day and age', but it *is* fully functional. Â

Just upgraded to OSx Lion 10.7 and find that Quicken 2007 won't open as Lion does not support it. Quicken advises that it does not yet have Quicken for Lion but is working on it. Meantime I am stuck as I use Quicken all the time. I am wondering if it is possible to uninstall Lion using the Snow Leopard install CD. At present, Lion is a disaster and I'd like to get rid of it and go back to Snow Leopard. Apple really screwed up with this one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA lot of people have been affected by the problem - the change to Lion OSX has left them stranded because Power PC Applications are no longer supported. I don't understand firstly why Apple has done this. There are thousands of software programs in use by their customers and suddenly these don't work. As these are programs used by students, teachers, employers and employees this seems quite senseless to leave everyone high and dry.
