I've set some share folders, from windows xp I can open the folders (even create files) and see the child folders but when I try to open them I get access denied.
I'm using snow leopard 10.6 on a mac mini, can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this?
I just got my wife a digital frame as one of her Christmas presents and had high hopes of uploading a load of pictures via USB today. The software included with the frame (from Brookstone) has both PC and Mac apps. If I go into my users/*name*/Pictures folder, I don't see all the photos I would normally see in iPhoto'11.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just recently decided to take the photos from my MacBook to my father's Dell to backup my files. However, most of the folders have slashes like this - "/", and windows will not accept these, so I had to rename every single folder (hundreds). What I did was just type in something random. Anyways, the pictures in my iPhoto Library show up for a split second and then they turn to white perforated boxes with exclamation marks because the source of the image obviously cannot be found.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to move my pictures, movies, music and documents folders to another internal drive. I read in this post that it should be a simple manoeuvre to move the pictures folder to another location and replace the pictures folder in the old home folder with an alias pointing to the pictures folder in the new location. I thought perhaps I can follow that procedure also for the other folders.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried checking with people at Apple store but they have failed to come up with the solution. Here is the problem everytime I restart my computer all the pictures from two of my events folders in the iphoto opens up at same time, meaning I have around 25 pictures or so opens up upon restart. I need to close them by using the function command and Q to close all at once. Often Time I hook up my computer to give presentation at work and its quite embarrassing that every one can see my pictures.
MAC OS X 10.5
Leopard
Is it supposed to not do that?

I can't get the iMovie to import photos from iPhoto without crashing just a few minutes into loading. Anyone know what I should do besides restart my computer (that doesn't help the problem).

I just made the switch from PC to MAC. So far I am doing ok with all the differences but one thing is driving me insane!
When browsing through my HD or external HD every time I click a folder it opens a new window. WHY? Is there any way to have it all use one window? I found in Finder there is an option to always open in a new window but this option is not checked.
In case it matters I am running OSX 10.6.3.
It has been bothering me for some time that when I open the Finder window, it opens pretty small and I either need to re-adjust it or scroll to find the folder. Is there a way to set it so that the Finder Window opens to a set amount of space?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently had some problems with my tap function. I couldn't open folders using it. I found if I opened system preferences/track pad and adjusted the double click speed - just by moving the slider around a bit

Whenever I try to open a Folder from the Dock using the "Open In Finder" command the folder window does not show up but instead the Preview app starts up and scans the selected folder,i.e., Applications, for any files it recognises.
I have repaired the permissions but it makes no difference. I have removed all folder icons from the dock and replaced them but to no avail. I have deleted the dock preferences files in my Home folder & restarted but the problem remains.

I've discovered this weird thing and wonder if it's just my system. If I set the double click speed to its maximum value (System Preferences -> Mouse) I can no longer open with double click folders that are on my desktop while it still works from the finder. I got the same thing from the mouse and from the trackpad. I have OS X 10.5.6.
View 2 Replies View RelatedClicking folders to view the contents always results in a new window opening. This is very frustrating when trying to view a deep path file. I've already gone to Finder Options and made sure "Always open folders in new window" is not selected.
I repaired the disk permissions using Onyx and MainMenu but the problem still occurs.
When I access another Mac via Airport (using Safari and typing in an address such as afp://192.168.1.3), I can access the other Mac by typing in the password, its disk will appear on my Desktop, but a small red dash appears in User folders such as Desktop, and if I try to open the folder it says I don't have permission.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave this reoccurring problem that when an icon in the dock is clicked it open a folder showing it's location instead of a opening the app.A reboot will fix it, but it is getting annoying.

This week I bought mij first macbook pro. so I new in osx. I have a ubuntu 14.04 server running with samba 4.1.6. From a Windows or linux computer is can acces the shares just fine.
When i try to acces the share from my macbook i can open the share but when I try to open an folder with allot of files/folders the is empty in finder, i thought first it was a performance issue so I've waited for 30 minutes but still empty. smaller Folders ik can open in finder.
In console there his no error on the server the logfile has also no error...
I was using KeyXing on my "old" G5. This was the best keyboard shortcuts generator I ever used. It was simply perfect to open some specific folders and put the window on the foreground using the keyboard only.
Sadly, KeyXing is no longer supported and doesn't work on Snow Leopard.
What is the best way to open specific folders using keyboard shortcuts ?
I recently got a 2TB hard drive and I wanted to transfer all that I had on my portable drive onto the 2TB one. So I did, and I guess I didn't transfer the "System Volume Information" folder and now I can't open the folders.
View 11 Replies View RelatedIn my menu bar, I have my favorites, and some are actually folders. Since switching to lion, those folders are marked by a square. When I click on them, every site within opens up and knocks out whatever site I had up. For example: In YAHOO, I have three bookmarks within (Yahoo, Yahoo Mail, and Yahoo UK) When I used to click on the folder, I was given a sub menu from which to choose. Now all three open up.
