I currently use a first-generation Mac mini with Snow Leopard and would like to upgrade to a second-generation Mac mini with Lion. I have many PICT images on my hard drive that I created with Color It! and am using as textures in Poser 7. Will I still be able to use PICt images in Lion, or will I have to convert them to PNG or JPEG?

My OSX is Lion, (10.7.4) but the Quicktime support for MPEG-2 format is missing. When I look in the Quicktime system library there is QuicktimeMPEG.component & QuicktimeMPEG4.component, but no QuicktimeMPEG2.component. So, I presume its not there. How do I fix this? Do I have to re-install something? I had Quicktime 10.1 on my system, but have now also installed Quicktime 7.6.6. I need to work with some MPEG-2 videos & convert them to MPEG-4 format. I gather I can do this with MPEG Streamclip, but not if MPEG-2 support is missing!

View 18 Replies View RelatedI am unable to download the Windows support software for my mac mini. It is currently updated to 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and the Boot Camp is at 3.0.4. When trying to download the software I am met with this error. Is this a known issue? I have searched the discussion board but it seems no one has answered this problem. I am tryign to download this for business purposes as we have multiple mac mini's at my job location.

View 22 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using the previous generation Mac Mini as my HTPC, and I use a combination of VGA (w/ an adapter) and optical out to feed my A/V receiver. It works great, but it would be even better to use HDMI for better cable management, my receiver's on-screen display and HDCP support (for iTunes "HD" TV shows). I tried using a Monoprice HDMI adapter, and it worked, except that MacOS only allows me to enable/disable overscan completely and didn't let me tweak the amount of overscan. Couldn't get SwitchResX to work with my Samsung LCD TV after many tries. Didn't want to use JustScan either since my DirectTV receiver doesn't work well with it (and didn't want to enable/disable JustScan depending on my source). So, does anyone know if the new Mac Mini supports fine-tuning of overscan?

I'm in a pretty big mess right now. I was using boot camp with lion and Windows 7 no problem and I wanted to edit the sizes of the partions. It didnt go so well and I ended up losing both operating systems. Now the big problem is when I boot up from the recovery partion I cannot do any sort of formating from the disk utility, it always give me some sort of error. When I try to install lion via web there is no partion that I can Install it to. I can install Windows no problem from a USB drive whcih I have done already. When managing the disk in windows I see 2 of the windows partions, the mac recovery partion, and an 80 GB partition that I can format but I cannot do anything else with. I dont have any images or recovery devices other than the recovery partition.how to get the drive back to mac format so I can re install lion.

We successfully hooked it up last night, and the video worked. I was told in the store that this setup would not transfer audio, so I already knew there would not be sound coming from the TV, rather from the Macbook instead. My Q is: What's the easiest way to get audio to come from the TV? I'd rather not buy external speakers to plug in, if I can help it.
