Hi guys, just wondering could I upgrade my mac mini 2.4 processor to a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66GHz Socket 775 1333FSB 4MB L2 Cache? I saw it for a good price and it's got me thinking. Not planning on it right now coz it's pretty fast after I upgraded it's ram to 4gb just thinking for the future, if not what's the best upgrade I could give it?

May 13, 2012I have a Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo that i cant run Lion on due to the processor. I also have an older 15' Macbook Pro of the previous design that has a later Core 2 Duo. Am i able to use this in the mac mini as the Macbook Pro KB is broken and no real use to me? I am unsure but first findings say No as one is Socket M and other is Socket T but unsure if this is true.

I've read several places that all of the icons are held in /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources. Well, I've gone there, and I cannot find the Mac mini 2010 icon. Every single other computer is there, including the old pre-2010 minis, except for my computer itself. So, where is the icon in the system?

Dec 25, 2010I've a mac mini, with two 24" Cinema Led displays. One display is connected directly to the mac mini (main screen) and one display is connected through a DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter from Athlona (secondary screen). Yesterday I rebooted the machine and since the reboot I cannot change my main screens desktop background. I tried every solution from several fora on the net, but did not succeed to change it. I only have a solid gray colored background. Normally, when you select a wallpaper, it instantly changes the background. Now it doesn't. You can see it change in the "Desktop & Screensaver" menu, but nothing happens in real. Changing the background of the secondary screen is no problem. When I restart the machine, you can see that the solid gray colored background goes away and the original chosen wallpaper appears, but then closes because I restarted the system. On start-up of the system, you can see the original chosen wallpaper again for a few seconds, while the machine starts applications to open at login, and then suddenly changes again into the solid gray colored background.

Sep 22, 2010I am a new Mac user, just switched from PC. Problem is that I connected my mini thru its HDMI out with a HDMI cable to my 47in Phillips LCD in its HDMI in. Everything is working fine but because I sit on my bed and use it. I find it to be too small, if I change resolution then I guess I will be losing out on the 1080p and also will need to connect thru VGA not HDMI. Is there any way I can make things look bigger so I can read the txt and everything from far away. Also I am not using a keyboard (only a mouse) so don't think I can zoom. But still I don't want to zoom all the time. Is there any permanent solution.

Jan 3, 2011I just installed a new ADSL modem/WiFi router from my ISP and now the Mini I have connected to the ADSL modem via ethernet cable has no Airport signal. With the previous ADSL modem/WiFi router I had to use internet sharing over airport from the Mini in order to get WiFi on my other computers. The old modem had WiFi, but I could only get one computer to connect to it, for all the other computers I just used internet sharing. The new modem/WiFi router will let all my computers onto the network, which is great.
My problem is that I use Mobile Air Mouse to use my iPhone as a mouse for the Mini. Since the modem/router upgrade I can't do that.

Dec 1, 2014I am unable to change "Energy Saver" settings in System Settings using Yosemite 10.10.1. In particular, I want to uncheck the "Put Hard Disks to Sleep" option.
I can click on the option and then click close. But when I go back into "Energy Saver" the checkbox is ticked again.
I have tried both an SMC and PRAM reset and the problem persists.

Sep 12, 2010I have an Early 2009 Mac Mini with Mini DVI and Mini DisplayPort. And I have two 1080p HDTVs. The Mac Mini is capable of dual display, and I've gotten it to work before, so the issue is not the TV or Mac. And I have tried both Mirroring and No Mirroring.
I got a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (#5311) and a Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter (#4852) both from MonoPrice. And for some reason I can't get the Mac Mini to dual display, it's only one or the other.
Before I had a Mini Displayport Male and USB Male AUDIO to HDMI Female Converting Adapter (#5969) and I got video on both HDTVs, but not audio at the same time b/c one was USB and one was TOSLINK.
I'm not sure why I can't get video on both monitors. Any help?

Apr 6, 2009I need to connect my 09' Mac Mini to my Yamaha RX-V2700 receiver which outputs to my Sony XBR HDTV. I know the mini has both mini-dvi to dvi and mini-dp to dvi or hdmi available via adapters. I was thinking to go with option 1 however I was wondering what is your opinions? Is mini-display port better over mini-dvi or are they the same? Audio will be carried over optical toslink.
Option 1:
Using mini-dvi adapter to dvi: Connect Dvi-Hdmi cable to receiver and output audio with toslink adapter.
Option 2:
Using mini-dp adapter to dvi or hdmi: Connect Dvi-Hdmi cable to receiver and output audio with toslink adapter.
