My MBP has this issue every once in a while where I have to hold the power button and force shut down. Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.
View 1 Replies View Related1. I have the newest 15'' MBP i5 (mid range model). I have only had my MBP for 2 months and have done the monthly cycle religiously for my battery. Now, I am not stupid and I realize overtime, the life of my battery will continuously decrease but currently my charge is only at 95%. I use Coconut battery, and it seems every time I take my MBP of the charger it goes down by 1%. Can anyone help explain this for me? Is my charger defective?
Also, I use the GPU info app for my MBP and it is always showing that I am using the NVIDIA GPU when Im not using any intensive programs, only Chrome. Why would this be? Are there programs running in the background that I cannot see? And if so, how can I stop or delete the ones I dont use.
I have an iMac and Macbook pro. Whenever I buy something from iTunes or the App store both machines back this data up on their respective hard drives as well as providing a copy to the primary device (iPod or iPad) meaning that I have multiple copies when I only need one back up. How do I turn off this on say the MacBook Pro so that it only backs up on the iMac?

I just received my iMac from FedEx today and got it all set up, but whenever I try to rearrange the icons on my dock, about 5-10 seconds later they just rearrange themselves randomly or sometimes go back to their previous location before I moved them myself.Â
I never had these problems with Snow Leopard on my last mac I found a suggestion to go to ~Library/Preferences and delete 'com.apple.preferences.plist' but I couldn't find it in that folder or anywhere on my local HD for that matter.

Here's the problem: Let's say I have Chrome w/ three tabs and Pages open on my Mac Mini. If I go to the Apple Menu and restart, when the computer restarts I want to see nothing other than my desktop. However, regardless of whether "Close windows when quitting an app" in System Preferences > General is checked, the apps (and their respective tabs/windows/documents) pop up, too.Â
App state persistence, reopening apps on start, resume — whatever it's called, I want to disable it. It's super annoying. As mentioned, I tried the checkbox in System Preferences (checked and unchecked), and cannot find anything else that even refers to this. Happens on my Late 2012 Mac Mini and Late 2012 13" MacBook Pro.Â

Is there a way to prevent apps from accessing files that are in the trash? I recently got bit when I moved some files to the trash, checked to make sure that nothing was broken, and then took out the trash. Turned out some applications were still using the files while they were in the trash. Is there a way, either in terminal or finder, to leave the files in the trash but make it so no apps can see them? It would be nice if this was the normal behavior.

How do Universal apps, actually compare in performance as compared to Intel binary apps? Yeah, sure, they're "native" speeds, but surely there must be some erformance hit? I mean, it DOES contain two binaries.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 2008 MBPro 15"Â As of the last few days, the bottom 3/4 of my screen is separated from the top 1/4 by a black or white (changes) row of pixels, and the bottom 3/4 of the screen shakes up and down a bit. It started a month ago, one afternoon, but it resolved itself after a few minutes. Now it does it continuously. Shutting down and restarting does not work. Â
It seems to do this less when a webpage is loading, but as soon as it's loading, it starts up again. The top 1/4 remains normal. Â

How can I stop the control button from moving the open applications up and exposing the desktop? It is getting very annoying when I want to use the control button for other functions. I tried looking in settings under keyboard, but found nothing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI came home and found an eMac on my back porch, came from my moms friend apparently. so i plugged it in and turned it on and i was playing on it for a while but safari would just repeatedly crash after loading the home page, so i restarted it and it seemed to fix the problem, me and my friend then took the casing off and replaced the cd drive because it was jammed. it started up just fine after that but after the next restart the screen seemed to be "shaking". it was jumping left to right. so i powered it off and started it up again. this time it did the same thing but it was more vigorous and the screen was flashing from normal to a dark purple tint. then it went really dark purple, the screen shut off, then the whole computer shut itself off. now only after leaving it unplugged for at least 30 seconds the first or second push of the power button will "twitch" the fan and the CRT sounds like its trying to come on, but i only get the CRT sound and the fan maybe doing at most a quarter turn before it stops. the only changes made was a new cd drive and a second RAM card. i tried it by pulling out the added ram card and still nothing. then tried with the cd drive IDE cable removed and still nothing.

My iMac doesn't turn off in the normal way any more. The system shuts down and the screen becomes black, but the fan keeps on running. And it deosn't stop! The only way to completely shut down everything is to hold the powerbutton.
I already have reinstalled Lion, but the problem is still prensent. I've got this iMac for around 6 months now, but this problem occured around 2 weeks ago. Before everything has been all right.

Something happened with my work mail account and the mailbox was rebuilt. On my home pc the mail account is not synching up and it appears to be in a continuous recycling mode. I am unable to send any messages. Incoming mail is being received from my other accounts. I am also having problems with my id to y cox account. The system is asking for credentials again I enter them but for some reason it is not working.Â
So my question is if I can't get it to stop- How can I delete the mail account and then re-state it?
