May 29, 2010I have 2 gigs of stuff on my desktop. Its not going to slowdown my mac will it? I keep my mac on all the time so start-up time is no concern if thats even a concern cause i remember back in my pc days reading you should keep your desktop clean for fast load up. I also found some script that hides all the stuff on my desktop so it looks empty and i access my desktop files through Finder if that makes any dif.

Mar 29, 2012Is it possible to change the default behaviour of wiki calendars to be hidden instead of visible. I have a wiki with a calendar with quite may calendars in it. The problem is that it gets very clotted when all event in all of them are shown. You can untick the box next to the calendar to hide it, but the problem is that this does not stay after a refresh or logout when viewing via a webbrowser. If I use the iCal client, a hidden calendar stays hidden (in iCal, not on web)
What I would like to do is change so "hidden" or "unchecked" is the default on the server.Â
On a client using iCal the setting for Checked or Unchecked is stored in :Â
user/Library/Calendars/C9BE5C0A-6EED-48D7-97F8-6DB02EA6A55A.calendar/Info.plist (your numbers will be different ) And the specific command in info.plist is:
<key>Checked</key>
<integer>1</integer>Â
As an alternative to change the default behaviour on the server for all calendars, changing this setting for each of the calendars would be possible if I only could find out how!?

Jun 8, 2012I launched Mail as I ordinarily do. It opened up, but the header bar was grayed out. Finally I managed to open program via Message/Go To/ Inbox, but no messages appeared in any of my mailboxes (even though I had several still in there from today). Mar 22, 2012I have downloaded the file ClassicsOnLine.app It was sent to me individually by the firm ClassicOnLine via YouSendIt. The app will open, but will not open one of its own files. When instead I ask that file to open with the app, the app freezes and has to be force quitted. All old versions have been trashed, and there are no traces of any old files that I can find on the computer. It reminds me of the old extension conflicts. I have used Safari and Firefox separately and get the same result from both.

Mar 14, 2012We had a mac which was on Leopard and saved files to the serverÂ
The file system we use is a Windows 2008 File Server, this has worked fine with leopard for years
However I understand that Leopard splits the files into resource forks - and that Lion has dropped support for these files. That particular mac is now on Lion as we upgraded and encountering LOTS of issuesÂ
I unable to open or edit lots of the files as i believe chunks of the files are missing. E.g an .eps file showed as 740KB on leopard - Viewing from a windows PC it was 730kb for the .eps and 10kb for the ._ resource fork.Â
Now that we are on the LION upgrade, we only see the .eps file and it is only 730kb. Information missing is things such as preview (quark), Font data, type of file, version number. we have hundreds! of images, files etc created with leopard and now upgraded to lion they all have become useless!
Rejoining the resource forks and files together so that they are usable on lion
