My parents recently bought an iMac. Yesterday my mom was playing a game when the computer froze. Neither force quit or holding the power button was doing anything so in her frustration she unplugged the system. Today, after plugging in the system again, it won't turn on.
I press the power button on the side of the wireless keyboard and the green light on the keyboard turns on for about 3 sec and then starts flashing. No fans start up and the screen does nothing.

My iMac does not start up as usual. I now get a ' start up disk is full. You need to make space available on your start up disk by deleting files' message. Â I am able to key my log on password however I just get the purple galaxy screen with no desktop.Â
If I try to use the keyboard I get a tone when pressing the keys. Â
Has worked perfectly well up until I got this dusk full message. Â
Our 2011 iMac with SSD takes 2:15 (two minutes and fifteen seconds) to start up. Start up on a SSD should be faster. OS X version 10.7.4 and applications are on the SSD. Any suggestions for correcting this lack of speedy start up?

My iBook G4 (10.4.11 with 512MB) will not start up from the DiskWarrior disc.
I insert the disc and restart the computer holding down the C key until the screen comes up with the program on the screen and then let go of the C key.
The computer then promptly shuts down.
I have not had this problem before.
I have repaired the permissions using Disk Utility.

After having updated my iTunes, I restarted my Mac. The battery then went out and now I can not start the machine. The screen is white with the apple, and a spinning wheel under it. How do I start my Mac?

System will not start. I now have OS Lion. I can not use the start up disks as adviced by others. My start up disk is OS Snow Leopard. I installed OS Lion. What do I do now?
The Snow Leopard start up disks tells me "Mac OS X cannot start up from this disk."
After connecting the imac to a new router the system hung completely up. After each input, e.g. opening preview or a browser, the coloured turning disc appeared and nothing happened anymore. Several restarts, also in safe mode, were unsuccessful. I could not switch to another user. Restart is only possible at all from installation disc but thereafter problem remains the same.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an IRIScan Express 2 single sheet scanner to use as a portable, After installing the IRIS, I find that my Epson 1250 flatbed scanner will not start. I am running OSX 10.5.8 on an intel mac tower. Has anyone had this problem with two scanners on the same operating system or on the same hard drive? I could use an external hard drive to run one if that is the only solution.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new MP Quad and I am noticing that I am always having to repair my startup disk. I will notice the system start to slow down, I will have Onyx verify startup disk and it tells me to repair it. I will boot to SL DVD, repair the disk and it will run fine for awhile but eventually end up in the same situation. Do I need to reinstall SL or is this a hardware issue?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Powerbook G4 17 that I have been working on. I recently replaced the screen and verified that it worked prior to buttoning it back up. When buttoning the powerbook back up, I nicked two wires with screws. One was part of the LCD wire that comes from the LCD itself. The second was the airport wire that is wrapped around the screen. I wrapped them back up with a cover and preceeded to get using my comp again. Once finally put back together, I could not get it to turn on.

i trashed the prefs, the library, and reinstalled. any ideas?
I load the OS, get to my desktop and i don't see any clock, wireless or battery. it soon went to blue screen, then back. now it is changing between 2 shades of blue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a powerbook off ebay, it worked but on startup occasionally a folder icon would appear. I rebooted from the original discs which seemed to do the trick. However the original discs are too old for many of my apps, so I bought some newer install discs (osx 10.5) I put the install disk in and got the panic message 'panic: Im hanging here'
The answer seems to be to run a disk repair (am i right?) However to do that I need to eject the install disc, I can't get the install disk out and of course it keeps tripping up everytime I start it. There is no secret little button to eject the disk manually. I have tried holding down apple and S but the install disk over rides everything and trips the mac up. I think ill be okay if I can just get this disk out.
On my Mac Pro i have windows XP on hard drive number 2. I went to boot to it today after installing a program and nothing happens. The monitors are receiving information but there just a black screen.
Not sure what i should do considering that i can still access the drive and files from the MAC Side. I can also get to the boot screen to select safe mode but that also does nothing.
It is a early 09 Mac Pro...i have been using the computer this way since last April. Cant figure out what happened.
A few days ago my school blocked msn messenger and adium both going through my [URL]
I've used online messaging sites such as meebo.com and web messenger but i was just wanted to know if theres an application for mac that will allow my adium/msn to log in such as a proxy application that will bypass the firewall or somthing.
I have just erased my hard drive (after backing up) and installed Mac OS X Snow leopard from my install disk, I then copied all my files over from the backup (using time machine) and it said everything was successful and that i should login with my password. Â
However, the password i had previously used did not work and neither did leaving it blank or anything else i could think of so i booted using the install disk and reset my password. I restarted and couldn't get past either a blank blue screen or more often a grey screen with a small wheel on it. I tried logging in with safe mode and got to the login screen but my keyboard didn't work (despite being able to hold shift to boot in safe mode) and though i could move my mouse, i couldn't click on anything.Â
I have tried resetting the PRAM, Repairing the disk and its disk permissions but nothing changes.

I have been running low on memory space for a while and just recently I turned my laptop on and all I saw was a blue screen. Fortunately there was still a bar on the top of my screen and I was able to access Safari by selecting the apple icon->Recent Items->Safari. I still cannot see the time or any of the other features. Safari seems to be the only application I can open, my itunes won't open and neither will just about any other application.

I suspect a software extension and to test this I tried going into my Administrator Account to see if the problem still occurred. However I find that iTunes refuses to open in my Admin Account. I get an error message instead saying "The folder "iTunes" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder." iTunes is in my Applcations folder on mi iMac's hard drive that as far as I know isn't locked. Â
I have examined the Permissions. Only the last one (Everyone) was Read only. The other two were both Read/write. Changng the last to Read/write also makes no difference. I have run Disk Utility to repair permissions. No change, still this error message and iTunes refusing to open.Â
I don't know if this is connected to the crash I get in my User Account. Both the iPod Nano and Color appear on the desktop and both make iTunes boot as soon as they are plugged in. With both machines iTunes crashes imediately and generates a report to Apple. Both machines display "Do not disconnect" until I eject them via the desktop. I have done a hard reset of the Nano several times to no avail. I've not done this with the Color yet. The iPod Touch has been behaving itself. However I have just plugged it in and it now neither appears on the iMac desktop nor does it fire up iTunes anymore.Â

Everytime I open up my lap from its sleep mode and try to connect to a website it says, Unable to connect to the Internet. My network connection shows an active connection to the access point. I know the problem is the DNS. When the system is in the state of saying it can't connect to the internet I can both ping my local router, and through an IP for yahoo.com into the browser and have it resovlve.Â
Once I start my system and let it wait for 30 to 60 seconds it will finally work. For some reason the DNS is waiting for a while to kick on.Â
My 1999 PowerBook G3 "Lombard" does not start when I press the power button. Is there a way to force it to start without it, or do I need to get a replacement button?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI got my first Mac last Sunday (woo!) but I was using it last night and a battery warning came up. I had been using the MBP, then turned it off and went out with battery still remaining. When I came back again a few hours later I used the Mac and after about 10 mins closed the lid for some reason. When I opened it back up it wouldn't start unless I plugged in the power outlet - the thing had completely drained. Then I checked the battery and it says to 'Service Battery'. It's now holding a charge as normal as far as I can see but the warning is still there.
A couple of other things I notice too:
- When I tilt the MBP to the right sometimes a scraping noise comes from the inside - maybe from a fan?
- When I pick it up from the bottom, the bottom of the Mac dips inwards slightly and there is a click as it makes contact with something on the inside of the case.
Are these things normal? I've made a Genius Bar reservation but I think I might just swap it for a new one.
Can you guys figure out this problem? Whenever i start a video chat my screen goes grey as seen below.
Does anyone also have this problem? Ihave the new Macbook (alum)
