I have a mighty mouse and the ball scrolls down but dont scroll up. I have tried the plain sheet of paper and rolling the ball on it until it cleans itself but its only worked for a while, now nothing seems to be working

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis is an issue most of you are probably familiar with. The 360 scroll ball on my mighty mouse has become so lodged with dirt (I'm assuming) making it impossible to scroll down. Scrolling left, right, and up works okay at best. When I scroll in the working directions, it makes a smooth tracking sound (tick-tick-tick-tick), when I scroll down, this sound is absent and is replaced by a "shhh" sound, which is the beginning of the word I'm thinking of when I hear it. I've tried the "dry cloth" (when has that ever 100% worked) with no avail, then I resorted to using a sewing needle to get around the ball (which caught a very small amount of dirt). The down-scroll still doesn't work (I mean, it doesn't work AT ALL, it's not functional) and I don't know what to do. I'm sure the mouse can handle more than just regular-consumer workload.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI went ahead and disassembled my wireless mighty mouse, unscrewed the scroll ball from the lid of the mouse and found a ton of lint and cr@p that has been living in here for quite some time. cleaned it all up, put it together, now all of the little rollers spin freely, great.
I go to put everything together, including the 2 ribbon cables, mouse snaps together, fire it up, mouse works fine, i can click, side buttons work, but the scroll does not work at all now. left to right use to be fine, it was just up and down. now nothing works.
any idea what could have gone wrong? did i forget something?
Does anyone know an easy way to pull apart the mighty mouse to repair the scroll ball? It won't scroll down (won't make the scratchy sound as if the sensor inside is clogged up or something).

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor the longest time I was using a wireless might mouse and was using the rubbing alcohol to clean it. I add a small drop from the cotton ball, let it get in there and then use a lint free cloth to wipe and sure enough it worked. Well trick stopped working months ago and neither direction was going threw, so I went back to using my plug in. Long story short, last night I opened the wiresless one. Took the ball out, clean the track wheels, and got up, right and left to work but down is no go. The wheel is spinning, but it's not sending the signal. I'm guessing the wheel isn't making contact to the pin, or is it possible I shorted the pin out with the alcohol?

We have had them for about 5 months (not long by my standards) and all of a sudden, within days of each other, the little ball scroller broke! One mouse is for my husband's computer and one is for mine, so they are being used differently, not for the same purpose or reason.. However, I'm sure we both use them a lot but doesn't every one? I will never purchase another one again. I dont care how much better they look than a basic mouse. I have never broke a mouse. I have one that came with my very first computer around 16 years ago and it still works!

Paid $79 dollars for it, so I wasn't going to let it die when the ball got all torn up after it's long term use.I didn't feel like cracking open my no longer used wired mouse to confiscate it's ball, so I looked for another solution. I found this small metal marble, the same size as the mighty mouses ball. I put it inside, put the mouse back together, and now I have a unique, working mouse. I posted some pictures, as I felt it looked cool, and thought I would share the idea with others.

I would LOVE it, if i could find a mouse that still allowed me to click the middle bit and launch expose and the side buttons took me to spaces.

View 15 Replies View RelatedToday after I cleaned my mighty mouse (by rolling the scroll ball on a piece of paper) the Button 3 would not work properly and neither would the primary button. When the scroll ball is set as Button 3 the primary button and the scroll ball both do Button 3 actions even though in the preferences its not set up that way. I can't click anything with it, it just keeps opening new tabs in Firefox and when I click those tabs they close. And as I typed this I noticed the secondary button isn't working well either. I took out the batteries, turned off bluetooth, changed the preferences, restarted my MacBook and it's all the same.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had issues with this before but now I can't seem to get the scroll button to work for any longer than 10 minutes or so. I have used clean cloth or mousepad to work button so that it works and used spray can air to clean out still...only works for a short time before it stops scrolling up or down. If anyone else has had this issue and solved it, can you let me know how to fix mine? I am feeling like this thing is a piece of junk right now.

I turn the computer on, and more than half the time, the mouse infrared thing on the bottom turns on then goes by the time the blue screen comes. Then I have to reboot again, and usually about 3 times before it finally works. I use the Mighty Mouse connected to the Apple Keyboard connected to a USB extension cable. I tried it without that but it still didn't work. Any suggestions would be great. If none of them work, I will contact AppleCare as I am still under warranty.

internet sharing is on, firewall is off. iphone can connect to the wireless, but wont DHCP the right ip address. before it was something like 10.0.0.x when its working. now the ip adress i got on the iphone its 169.254.xxx.xxx
