Apr 1, 2012The numeric keypad portion of my keyboard does not work for some reason. I have tried pressing the "clear" button ovet the "7" key but no go. I have to force quit now when in InDesign if I use the number pad by mistake. HAve repaired disc permissions and disc, am at wits end.

May 29, 2012My Wireless mac keypad has stopped properly working. The keys sometime do not correspond to the result, or a a simultaneous duel actio, for example when the delete button is pressed the. Ursor does go backwards, but it also turns the sound up. The keyboard is properly connected to the computer, and the battery life is up in the nineties.Â

Intel Mac :: Very Slow Startup And Very Slow Response Time When Doing Tasks?
Apr 22, 2012recently my Mac is really slow, slow on startup(took around 1-2hours), and slow on task(more than 5 minutes delayed time on every single task), I don't know what happened to it,
My Mac specs: Â
1.Mid-2010 27 inch iMac,
2.Original 4g Ram upgraded to 12g
3.1TB HD has got more than 400gb free space.
4.i3 processor
5.Using latest Lion(I think it's 10.7.3)Â
Problems: Â
1.Startup tooooooooo slow, take more than 1 hour
2.Extreamly slow on tasks. Without any apps opened, every single click, it turned into the 'colorful fan', for instance, open finder, it took more than five mins, and it's not only the finder, it's EVERYTHING!!!!Â
What I have done so far:Â
1.I have reduced the login items
2.I have changed the password login to the automatic login
3.I have tried verify disk permission, verify disk, repair disk permission and repair disk
4.Unplug all unnecessary items(monitor, external drive etc.)
5.Run couple of time of 'clean my Mac', get rid of all the trash.
6.Cleaned the cacheÂ
Due to the ridiculous, frustrating startup, that's all I could do, however, none of them worked.
Now I am using recovery HD to reinstall Lion from a disc, but I don't know if it'll work or not.Â
I don't have another Mac, I don't have backups(don't want to lose my data),that's my situation.

MacBook Air :: Slow Internet / Can't Connect To A TV
Dec 19, 2009I have a Macbook Air running 10.5 and I am having an issue with the internet connection slowing down every time I use my TV (50" plasma 1080p) as a monitor. The wireless internet connection either slows down or stalls out completely. The moment I disconnect it from the TV, everything starts working again, full speed. I have already moved my wireless to another room because I thought the TV might be interfering with the connection but that didn't help at all.

Feb 11, 2012I know this isn't the first post on this. Just thought i would make another post on this to press the issue with apple.I Got a nice shiny new 12 core about a month ago. In the process of beefing it up with what i need on it. about a week ago, one day, it decided not to connect to the Internet. I looked here on the community and see it is occurring with lion. Came back to it the next day and it worked smooth like butter. No problems connecting and it wasn't slow at all.
As of now it has been 2 brutal days of either no connection OR a connection soo slow it reminds me of dial up. Maybee even slower. The only thing different on my computer right before it happened was i installed another HD and 16GB of owc ram ( took out the original ram).

Mac Pro :: Slow To Connect To Internet After Waking
Apr 13, 2012Since I upgraded to Lion my mid-2011 2.8 GHz Mac Pro takes about 10-15 seconds to connect to the internet. After waking from sleep in the past, I could launch my web browser and it was connected immediately. It is bad for my email. It is set to check every 2 minutes and I get a huge log of connection errors. I am using the ethernet port with a direct connect to the modem. I also have a wireless router for my MBP and it connects immediately through Airport. Why is my direct connect slower than Wi-Fi?

MacBook :: MBA Wifi Slow To Connect After Sleep?
Mar 2, 2008Does anyone else notice the MBA takes a long time to reconnect to your wifi network after awaking from sleep? I'd say it takes 10-15 seconds vs. a MBP which takes less than 5 seconds.Not a huge deal, but I'd say it's one of the slowest notebooks I've used to reconnect to a wifi network.

Apr 6, 2012When I'm at my apartment with 18 mbps internet my MacBook Pro has absolutly no problems with the internet. When I come to my parents house to stay where they have 15 mbps internet my laptop is rediculously slow. I thought it was the fact that more people are connected but on every other device it works fine, my iPad and my parents PC's have no problem. I am at a complete loss I have tried to run a diagnostic multiple times and have done the DNS Servers 4.2.2.1. and 4.2.2.2

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Connect To The Internet - DNS Slow To Start
May 8, 2012Everytime I open up my lap from its sleep mode and try to connect to a website it says, Unable to connect to the Internet. My network connection shows an active connection to the access point. I know the problem is the DNS. When the system is in the state of saying it can't connect to the internet I can both ping my local router, and through an IP for yahoo.com into the browser and have it resovlve.Â
Once I start my system and let it wait for 30 to 60 seconds it will finally work. For some reason the DNS is waiting for a while to kick on.Â

Aug 26, 2009My husband gave me a Mac Mini for my birthday. So far so good but it is a little frustrating learning a new operating system after working with MS Windows since the beginning.
I'm using my Dell flat screen monitor and keyboard and my Microsoft wireless mouse. With MS windows I used the keypad on the right side of the keyboard for the arrows/pgup/pgdn/home, etc. to move around the screen and did not use the number functions (I turned number lock off). With my Mac Mini it only gives me the numbers and the number lock OFF does not work.
Question: how can I turn the number lock off so I can use the arrows/pgup/pgdn/home, etc. on the keypad?

Hardware :: Targus USB Keypad Not Working Well
Jul 23, 2010I need to do a lot of number entries and bought the Targus USB Keypad to use with my Macbook Pro. The problem is that it doesn't seem to work too well,. It enters the number then immediately clears it. It works fine without NumLock on but I need it with the numbers, not for navigation. Is there some kind of software I need to make it work right? I don't have a lot of money to spend but I suppose I can buy a new one. Just can't afford to get the wireless Mac keyboard which would probably solve the whole problem though I really only need the number keypad!

I never noticed that the numerical keypad on the RH side of my keyboard was inoperative, in that I cannot use the keys to type the digits in any text, nor for entering numbers in an Excel spreadsheet cell.
I never use it except to use the 12346789 keys to nudge the pointer. I always use, by habit I guess, the number keys above the letter keys.
I checked the Finder�s Help and did not find any specific info about the numerical keypad. I thought that may be the Extended Keyboard that came with the computer, somehow had not been identified properly when I installed OS 10.4. Reading Finder�s help about that subject, it said to �Open Preferences, Click Keyboard and Mouse, Click Keyboard, Click the �Change Keyboard Type� button, and Follow the steps when the Keyboard Setup Assistant appears.�

Oct 7, 2010The product I didn't know I was waiting for arrived this afternoon, and it looks pretty good, surprisingly. The key feel is great, and despite being made of plastic it looks very, very convincingly aluminum. The build quality of the battery compartment isn't great, so here's hoping it has a long battery life.

May 29, 2008I'm using the bluetooth Apple ultra-thin keyboard. While I like it's small size, and wireless freedom; I miss the numeric keypad.
A simple solution would be to purchase a numeric keypad, but if it's not wireless, it defeats the purpose of using the Bluetooth keyboard.
I found Logitech's cordless numeric keypad, but looks like it lacks mac support.
Has anyone used it before, or perhaps know of an alternative?
