Jul 31, 2009My Keypad won't work on my Macbook i can log in but the arrow mouse won't move? The keys will work but the keypad won't work what should i do?

Dec 3, 2009I just bought the latest macbook pro. It is actually my first mac so I'm not really sure if this is supposed to happen. But I tried plugging in my "ordinary pc" (meant to say that is not a Mac mouse) mouse which is an A4Tech brand. It's working when I move the mouse in huge spaces. It goes smoothly that way. But when I try to move it in small little spaces, it's kind of like not going smoothly. Especially when I'm working on small details like Photoshop, it's kind of difficult to maneuver the mouse arrow. I tried other "pc" mouse as well but it's just the same.. Does this really happen if I'm not using Mac's mouse? How do I fix this?

May 1, 2012I have a 3 gig macbook using 10.5.8. It acts as if the mouse or keypad is pressed - intermittently. I notice it both using the mouse and when typing. I disconnected the mouse but it still does it. Typing anything is very hard, web browsing not easy. Files, words, pages, etc. get dragged around. It does it for a while, then stops, but starts misbehaving again. Restarted the machine, but it comes back.

Jun 4, 2014You move the mouse over to the scroll bar, favorites bar, minimize, etc... and the mouse is stuck in the wrong icon, be it the text pointer, hand pointer, window resize pointer... when it should be the arrow. It is such an obvious bug and I can't believe Apple hasn't noticed this.

Oct 16, 2010I am about to get an iMac but I don't really want that magic mouse thats given free with it because I don't want that extra bluetooth radiation, nor do I want that cordless bluetooth keyboard for the same reason. So I am thinking of getting the mighty mouse instead and the numeric keypad keyboard.

Feb 7, 2012 my mouse arrow cursor changes at will - it becomes an ibeam or a hand (like the one used when pointing to a link) and then will switch back to an arrow. I use a Logitech wireless mouse with plugged in USB receiver. I turn the mouse off whenever I stop work. I changed the batteries on the Logitech mouse yesterday and it had no effect. I tried using the Magic Mouse (which I love, but which has problems of its own - it eats batteries for breakfast and it's not consistently recognized when I wake up the iMac and I have to resort to the Logitech mouse to get going so I rarely use it) to see if it did the same thing and it does. I am still running 10.6.6 and haven't added any software or done anything strange. I did update Firefox to 9.0.1 a while back, but things were fine a long time after I did that.

The + key on the number keypad doesn't work, but the one on the main part of the keyboard does. On turning on the computer, as soon as (for example) I open Safari and the Google page appears, a row of plusses appear; +++++++++++++. The plusses will keep appearing until I press the space bar. Then I can delete them.
The right hand shift key works with everything but the " key, but the left hand shift key is fine. There were problems in the past; I had the "you have stupidly pressed the wrong key" chime repeating and repeating. this stopped, many months ago. I did wipe the keyboard down with a cloth that was slightly too damp and some keys stopped working, but after leaving the keyboard in the sun for a couple of days all was fine. That was months before the +++ problem started and months after the "you have stupidly pressed the wrong key" stopped.
The +++ problem was worse at one time, occurring at random while the computer was in use. I also suspect that some keys do not always function when tapped, but that may well just be my typing. Having typed this out and thought about it, it would seem that I may have damaged the keyboard when I wiped it down, but you may know better.

Jun 19, 2014I have a logitech mouse and just recently my trackpad has started not working when it is plugged in to my right USB even though the mouse is not on. I take out the USB and the trackpad works again. The left USB still works but occasionally it will stop the trackpad as well, but I unplug it and plug it back in and everything is back to normal. Nov 17, 2010I have a 2007 2.2Ghz "Santa Rosa" MBP, which I've had quite the problems with for the past 3 (soon to be 4) years. Just starting this week, if I'm on Safari or iChat for instance, Mac OS X freezes and everything stops... yet the mouse cursor can still move. Very soon, the screen starts flashing black and white over the frozen screen (with Safari, iChat, or whatever still open and visible behind the intense flickering). This flickering only goes on for a few seconds though; but the system remains frozen, requiring a manual shut-down and reboot.
Any ideas what's going on? It just started recently. Software has been completely up to date. Somehow I'm paranoid that the graphics card issue is coming back to haunt me again (I've had it replaced once already) but it doesn't seem like that's it.

Oct 7, 2010The product I didn't know I was waiting for arrived this afternoon, and it looks pretty good, surprisingly. The key feel is great, and despite being made of plastic it looks very, very convincingly aluminum. The build quality of the battery compartment isn't great, so here's hoping it has a long battery life.
