Sep 11, 2014My mid-2012 Air, on Mavericks, falls off the internet constantly. The connection is also frequently usurped by BT Fon, to which I do not subscribe. Other Macs in the household have no problem with wireless connection.

Sep 3, 2009getting network issues with Snow Leopard on their macbook air? I bought the family pack and installed it on my MBP and black Macbook but the macbook air has been acting weird since the upgrade. The internet constantly drops and the browser simply get stuck trying to find a connection, other apps that require internet are also not responding. Usually after a few quits and restarts of the application the internet would come back normal but then later it would drop again. I know its specific to the Air because I dont get issues with the Pro or regular Macbook running right next to the machine. I have tried deleting the WPA2 account and readding it but the problem still shows up frequently. Using the Eithernet USB adaptor doesnt help either

May 28, 2012My imac constantly drops my wifi connection. Sometimes it'll last 5 minutes, other times less than a minute. And, yet other times, it'll go on for 30 minutes. I've tried deleting the network and the adding it again, reset router, changed channels on the router and countless other solutions with no success. Sometimes, it does not even find my wireless network! My ipad, my wife's macbook pro and my mac air all seem fine on the network and do not drop the signal. What is going on? Could it be my wireless card? Is there any easy way to check if I have a faulty wireless card?

Apr 14, 2012My iMac is connected to the internet wirelessly.
Every hour (or even more often), I get the message "Safari cannot connect to the Internet", followed by a prompt to run diagnostics. I run the diagnostics, re-select my network (provided via BT Hub) and pronto - the issue is fixed, by why does the connection drop so often. Surely this can't be right - I can't be doing that every time I want to go online. Â
Interestingly, my iPad (which uses the same network and Safari) never drops the connection, so it is something to do with the iMac.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: 10.7.3 On 2009 MBP Drops Wifi Constantly
Feb 1, 2012I upgraded my 2009 15" MBP today to 10.7.3 and never had any issues with connectivity or wifi. Suddenly my MacBook Pro drops the wifi every few seconds and can't keep a stable connection. I know there was an issue with the iMac's and this problem but I never had this. Are you telling me in fixing this problem on the iMac, it broke the rest? Â

Feb 2, 2012Updated this morning. Then it would not hold a wifi connection for more than 5 seconds at a time. Had to use Lion Recovery to install a Time Machine backup to 10.7.2. That took over two hours. After that wifi was semi-ok. Lion has always had a problem with wifi. I am very disappointed with how Apple has handled the Lion rollout. wifi think twice before installing this update.

Jul 4, 2008i have a macbook and my gf has a mBP and we just recently go SBC/At&t DSL. but this stupid ass 2wire modem keeps randomly losing all its signal or something and takes about 5 mins to reset. I had this problem when i was at home with the same router. Does anyone know what to do?

I went to the Genius Bar about the problem and was told to reinstall OS X, which I did, and now, it just happens more often! The only way to get it to reconnect is to turn the airport on and off. Or, when I select my network, it asks for the password, which it was told to remember.

OS X :: DSL Internet Connection Drops With MB
Jul 23, 2008I have been using Qwest DSL internet for the past year. But, for the past month I've had a problem with the internet going 100% out (for just 1 minute each time) when I'm surfing the internet or using Skype/MSN. It can happen 10x per hour or just 1x per hour. It happens most often when I'm demanding a lot from my internet connection, such as visiting graphic intensive sites (360 degree tours, etc.) OR when I'm using Skype with video/audio. It's sometimes predictable, but not always. Even if I try to recreate the 1 minute "outages" there isn't a guarantee I can recreate one of them.
Tech support has replaced my 2wire modem 2x. They have also checked my internal and external wiring. They've also changed ports and all sorts of things in the main office. They say I'm getting perfect speeds and a clean signal. They say they've done everything they can. And, honestly, it seems like they really have tried. And, the speeds ARE good, except for when the internet light goes completely Off and I lose my internet for just 1 minute. It then turns back on and the connection returns. (The DSL light and other lights remain on or just flicker).
My computer: I'm using a 3 month old 2.4 MB with Leopard and the basic Mac programs. I also have Skype and Adium, but not much else. No extra firewalls or anything.
My DSL modem: I have a 2wire 2701HG-D. Built in firewall.
Changes: I've not made any changes to my hardware or software. This problem seemed to come from nowhere. Everything was great and then these 1 minute outages started occurring.
Mac/Modem settings: Standard settings using WEP.
Other users: Just my MB (wireless connection) and very occasional use of a neighbor (wireless connection) who checks her email. But, she's often gone. And, these outages DO seem to occur when it's ME online and when I'm using the internet heavily.

I have tried different routers and multiple computers in the house but it's clearly my MBP that randomly looses its internet connection (WLAN stays connected). It's getting really frustrating. Nov 2, 2010I have an ibook G4 1.42 ghz. It worked fine until recently. After connecting to a wireless network for a few minutes, it then begins to sporadically drop out. And after losing the connection, it can't detect any wireless networks. Turning off the card, restarting the computer, letting it sit for a few minutes... signals come in and out, but then drop again.
I'm using OS X.4, so this isn't a software problem, the OS, or caused by an update. The antenna also isn't faulty. The computer reads the card as being fully functional, but just doesn't detect any wireless networks. I've exhausted all software solutions and now can only conclude it's a hardware problem. Given the symptoms I've described, would the best idea be to replace the card altogether?

Aug 30, 2014I have a mid 2010 macbook pro. I recently had to get a new hard drive and the guys at the Apple store went ahead and updates my software to mavericks. I hadmt had any problems for over a month. However, I've started having a problem with connecting wirelessly. Whenever I first open my laptop, it starts to connect to wifi, but comes up with the ! symbol. I know it's not the wifi because all my other devices haven't had a problem and it's been happening on my home and college wifi. At school, I'm able to just turn off airport and turn it back on to get a connection. However, if I do this at home, it initially connects (it shows signal and I'm able to load pages) but drops within a couple minutes. If I turn my router off and on, it connects.

Sep 30, 2009I'm having issues with using Internet Sharing on my Mac mini. It works perfectly fine for a while, then the connection drops. Printer sharing seems to drop in the same intermittent way. If I turn off Internet Sharing and turn it back on, everything starts working again. I'm running 10.6 on both the mini and the laptop I'm trying to get wireless internet on.

Apr 26, 2009So my 6 month old Unibody has had an issue for a while that it drops the internet connection, though keeping the network/WiFi connection. It started out just on campus where there is a campus wide SSID that is unencrypted, though requires a login to start browsing. A restart of the computer fixes this issue, though it always repeats itself (usually after 30-45 minutes of browsing, no downloading). Lately, the issue has been getting worse. It is now dropping the connection on other APs, and even stops the Airport card altogether (KisMac can't even scan). I had a backlight bleeding issue fixed by Apple. Is this connected? I know the airport card is in the screen, so maybe they didn't fix it well.

About once every day or every other day, the internet connection drops, but the router is still functioning fine (can connect to the router) and is visible via airport utility. We can't connect to the internet, whether via a wired or wireless connection. In order to get the internet back up, I need to so a restart on the airport utility. This seems odd, but this is the second airport extreme in a row that we've bought that has this problem (the other one lasted two months).

Apr 8, 2012I have a 2011 iMac 27 inch I purchased in around December. I have the most updated version of OS X Lion. My wifi connection to my router keeps dropping and losing connection. This does not happen to my other devices (MBP, iPhone, iPad). There was a fix for OSX Lion which worked for a bit but now it's happening again.

May 13, 2012installing the 10.7.4 update on my 2011 iMac 27". The symption is that the iMac drop its Wifi connection after a period of time and when that happens the iMac cannot detect any wifi networks in my area (disabling & re-enabling Wifi on the iMac doesn't help). I have to resort to restarting the iMac to revive the wifi interface. Note that my other devices (including my iPhone and my MacBook Air)can connect to my Airport Extreme without any problems.

Jan 31, 2012A number of times now my Apple brand Wired Keyboard has droped out of control. The letter keys work fine, but things like enter, return, the volume keys and more everything in that line will not operate. OF course, then waking it up from sleep becomes a problem and to get that back or any of the usual control I need to restart.

I have to repeatedly go back into System Preferences, Network, Assist Me, Network Diagnostics, choose the network port config, select WiFi, select my network and it restores all network settings and says "Internet connection appears to working correctly." This problem apparently happens whenever the computer goes to standby/sleep.

May 22, 2012For specific reasons, I needed to connect my Synology DS211 NAS to my iMac directly via its ethernet port. I discovered that if I share my wireless internet connection (coming from my cable modem/wireless router) from wireless to ethernet, then the NAS would get the IP stuff it needed to show up. did that, voila, NAS is acting like a glorified external hard drive. BUT, when I did that, I lost all internet connectivity on my iMac. Still have full wireless signal. preferences pane says I'm fully connected to my network with an IP address, but safari always fails to pull up any webpages, saying I'm not connected to the internet.As soon as turn off the ethernet PORT, it all starts working again. And to make it even crazier, I discovered that if I leave sharing my wireless internet via my ethernet port ON, but turn off the ethernet port (in pref pane), I can STILL access the NAS just like before. That makes no sense - I'm sharing my internet via a port I have turned off, but it works? Anyway, why would Iose my airport wireless internet connection when the ethernet port is on - configured manually?

IMac :: Intel Freezes Up Constantly
Feb 6, 2009Having some trouble with my iMac5,1 - Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.16 GHz. It's about 2yrs old. Symptoms include: 1 - freezing when I open, close or move windows too quickly, open too many windows and/or when I multi-task in general. Anything processor intensive is unreliable. 2 - apple mouse cursor shoots off to the side of the screen for no apparent reason and scroll button is unreliable. 3 - lines across the screen that resemble pixel drop-outs - they come and go. I'm still running 10.4. I've wiped out my hard drive twice in the last 2 months and started over from scratch. When I re-install 10.4.0, it seems to run fine. until I run the system updates. That's when my trouble begins again. I've also cleared out my caches and histories repeatedly. I've run the Disk Utility repeatedly. This is getting serious. My PC at work is WAY more reliable than my Mac. I'm considering switching back! I owned a G4 for 7 years and was very happy with it. Was the switch to Intel a bad idea?

Mar 12, 2012I have a 27' iMac with internal SDD and HDD. I really like how it is so quiet. It worked really well out of the box though had a glitch which required a reinstall of Lion. Now the HDD is constantly spinning even if there are no apps open that require r/w access to the HDD. I've used pmset to turn it off after 1 min but I'd rather it didn't come on at all unless i send something to/from the HDD. Any ideas how to configure this correctly?

Mar 25, 2012The computer freezes or crashes fairly regularly - sometimes within minutes of being started. I have wiped the hard disk several times and done a clean reinstall of Lion. The computer still crashes - again within minutes of the Finder launching.However, it behaves itself when I boot it into Windows, or if I do a Safe Boot.
