MacBook Pro :: Start Up Disc Full - Different From Full Hard Drive?

Jun 5, 2012

I have a mac book pro...one of the older models...around 5 or 6 years old..the silver one with the silver around the screen part. Running Mac OS X 10.6.8,

2.33 GHz, 2GB ram.

Lately my computer has been rediculously slow with everything, but aside from that my issue is with my start up disc. I would have over 1.5 GB of space left, open up a photoshop file...make some alterations and save...and all of a sudden I have NO SPACE left. These alterations created the photoshop file to be like 50mb more. Its a 200mb file. So how can I go from 1.5 gigs to saving a 200mb .psd file and all of a sudden 0 hd space?

Sometimes I couldnt even save the .psd because when I opened it all of a sudden I have half a gig now. And even if I had half a gig why wouldnt I be able to save? I go to save and sometimes it says "your start up disc us full" - Is this different than my harddrive?

Is photoshop using some sort of weird caching thing?

Apr 4, 2009

My G-4 startup disc is full and now the computer won't start up. I am told to put a startup disc in the drive and restart from it, but I cannot get the disc drive to open. I have tried everything, including copying over to external hard drive. I read that if you hold the mouse button down, the disc drive will open, but this hasn't worked.

OS X :: Energy Saver Settings - Delete .plist File For To Start Over?

Dec 27, 2008

Well 10.5.6 has been so much fun and full of surprises - like a box of chocolates Gump would say. For some reason, the sleep function settings won't reset. I had my iMac set to sleep the HD after about an hour. I changed the setting to never, but it still wants to sleep. Never had any trouble like this before the update. My install is almost virgin as I had to reinstall because of the update. I don't have any add-ons running or anything like that. Can I delete the .plist file for these settings to start over?

Intel Mac :: Error - Start Up Disk Is Almost Full

Apr 18, 2012

Bought this iMac not quite a year ago.  I had very few files - some pictures and music mostly.  Tried to update ANYTHING and kept receiving "start up disk is almost full".  Burned pictures to disc and deleted them.  Also, accidentally deleted all music as well.  I am still receiving the error message.  I called Apple and removing media files was their suggestion as well.  I have no idea what to do next - I have no "tech savvy" Processor  2.7 GHz Intel Core i5Memory  8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)
