Intel Mac :: Cannot Delete Any Of Messages To The Trash Folder
When I try to delete my email messages a pop down box shows up on the screen telling me that "The message (whatever one it may be) could not be moved to the mailbox 'Deleted message-mail.comcast.net does not allow messages to be moved to it.
Is it possible for me to have deleted the original trash box from the left hand column of the mail page? And that is why these email message cannot be delelted?
I have been given all kinds of sites to go to in hopes of correcting this problem but none of them has been the one that works to correct it for me I have over 45,000 messages that I need to get rid of and I just can't figure out how to get them to move to the trash file or folder and it doesn't work.

Intel Mac :: Unable To Delete Messages In All Mail Folder
I have a folder under my Gmail account marked "All Mail" which currently has over 10,000 messages that I would like to delete. I am using the Apple email program. I am able to delete them only to have them return when I reboot my computer. I am concerned that these ever growing messsages will slow down my computer. I have worked with my internet provider, Apple tech, and gmail and no one seems to have an answer. They do not show up with I access my gmail account through the web. Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Intel Mac :: When Delete A Folder Requires A Password And It Doesn't Go In The Trash
I made a clean install of lion as i had a little bit of a problems after few years i was uning my iMac.. All of the issues were gone but know i got a new problem with the trash .. Every time i delete something (i.e: a folder that i dont need any more) i requires a password.. Then instead of that folder to appear in the Trash (as it should be), it is automatically gone and do not appear in the trash! what is this but i am suspicious that is the password protection thing that is responsible for that!

OS X :: Cannot Delete Folder From Trash
I have tried everything and I cannot delete this folder from my trash. It's an empty folder because everything inside it is already deleted. I get this message when I try to empty trash. "The operation cannot be completed because the item "xxx" is in use." I have tried going into Terminal and typing "sudo rm -rf" etc etc. Get the message "directory not empty". Tried secure empty trash. Tried using Cocktail. Tried using Permanent Eraser. Tried holding down "option" and emptying. Tried logging out, logging in then emptying. Tried restarting and emptying. Nothing seems to work. I've looked through every thread on every forum I could find on google. I can move the folder back to my desktop. I can rename it. It's not locked or anything. Also, I tried emptying it in safe mode, but I can't seem to start up on safe mode!!! I turn off the computer, turn it on, hold down shift after I hear the startup noise, release shift when the grey apple logo comes up, and then it just shuts down on me. I can't boot up on safe mode!! It's so weird! I'm gonna try repairing disk permissions, but before I do. I'm on a PowerBook G4. Running Version 10.4.11. Everything is up to date.

OS X :: Can't Delete Windows XP Folder From Trash
So, while cleaning up my macbook pro from old files, I mistakenly get into the NO NAME partition that appears in the OS X partition, but which holds some kind of Windows XP directories. I don't know how I managed to do so, but I somehow deleted a folder under NO NAME/Documents and Settings/[user name] and all the files in that directory. Not much harm was done, since it seems as though the folder was merely duplicated into the trash and still remains in its original directory in NO NAME. The problem is that every time I try to delete it from the trash it says I don't have permissions. It's only folders and they're all unlocked and I am logged on as admin. I've tried dragging the folder out of the trash but it merely duplicates it (although I have no issues deleting the duplicate). So I have folders that have no use being in or outside the trash, which are proving to be very difficult to delete. I tried verifying my disk fwith Disk Utility, but it resulted ok.

OS X Leopard :: Can't Delete TM Folder From Trash Bin
I have a LaCie external HDD that I'm using with TM and prior to realizing you have to delete TM folders in TM, I tried dragging one of the backup folders to my trash. I cannot get rid of this folder now and always get an error message that says "Cannot delete folder because man1 is in use." I've tried option+Empty trash, using terminal >"rm -rf /Volumes/"PHUCK"/.Trashes/`id -u`/*" and a few other terminal options with no luck. I usually get a "Permissions denied" message when I plug these codes in. I really need some help.. I'm just not sure what else to do. Is there a way to access the trash folder on the external and delete it from there or is there something I'm overlooking? Intel Mac :: How To Mass Delete In Mail Trash
I'm in Mail and my trash has about 80 deleted messages. I cannot figure out how to do a mass delete. Please don't tell me this has to be done one delete at a time. I've tried a few key strokes and mouse/key combinations, but obviously not the right ones. Now, this is not in MAILBOXES, where a right click and Erase Deleted Items does the job. This is under my 'GMAIL' box, which is linked to MAIL. I can right click--erase deleted items there until I am blue in the face to no avail. Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

OS X Leopard :: Can't Permanently Delete Folder From Trash / Get Rid Of It?
I had a folder called blah. I must have messed up some terminal command, and I inadvertantly created a seemingly infinite (i.e. very very large) number of nested subfolders within blah, each named blah. So, inside blah, was a folder named blah, and inside that was a folder named blah, and inside that was a folder named blah and....you get the idea. I tried to delete the whole mess, but when I empty my trash, it persists! How can I get rid of it? Intel Mac :: GoFlex Desk System Cannot Delete Files Or Move To Trash
I purchased a GoFlex Desk for Mac with the FW800 adapter. No issues with stability or performance. The only thing that is weird is related to deletion of files: 1) When I set a program to auto-clean files (for example, deleting source rar files after unpacking) it doesn't work 2) Whenever I try to delete a file, I get a warning that "This cannot be undone", and it's doing a permanent delete rather than moving it to trash.I've verified that I'm not using any Seagate drivers, and the drive shows up as the "Orange" generic external drive. I followed the advice by inputing the following code into terminal: osascript -e 'tell application "finder" to quit' rm -rf ~/.Trash Well, it worked. Intel Mac :: Unable To Delete A Folder On OS X 10.6.8?
I have a folder on my startup drive that will not delete. I can issue the command "rm -rf dir_7171197" as root, and the prompt comes back with no errors, but the folder is still there. My question is, what are the reasons a file is not able to be deleted? I can change the name of the folder but I can't move the folder into the parent, and I can't put it in a child folder. If I attempt to trash the parent, it just sits there in the trash can and never deletes. There are no additional attributes assigned to either the folder itself or the parent.

OS X Leopard :: Mail App - Messages Disappear From Inbox/sent Folder / Messages Are Not Sent
I use Mail app and have two email accounts, both on POP3. Oftenly when I forward or reply an email and click sent it quietly disappears. It is not sent, not in the drafts, not in the sent folder and neither in outbox. It simply disappears. Grate for business. So now I have to check each and every email if it gets into the sent folder and actually sent. Sometimes messages disappear form Inbox. No active or inactive mail rules available. I see that I have one new message, lick on mail and the same instance message disappears. When I check server it is there (I have set messages to be deleted from server after 2 days). Before I deleted "Description" in the outgoing servers assuming this may save the day. Another thing I did was deleting "Envelope Index" letting mail to re-index.
