I've made the update to 10.7.4 last week and since then my MBP doesn't want to shutdown. I tried a few times, waiting for half an hour, but the result was the same. Also, the startup is slower than usual.

This problem started, went away on its own, and now it's back after about two months of being trouble free.When I close my computer, it doesn't go to sleep.The slit light on the right front of the computer does not go into its slow flash mode; however, it does light up solid, and theng it stays lit.When I open the lid, the computer wakes up immediately (it was never "sleeping" to begin with), but then after a second or two the screen fades to black.The screen can be brought back to life by pressing either of the brightness buttons on the keyboard.I took it to the Genius Bar, and of course I couldn't replicate the problem for them.When I got back home, I decided to test the computer plugged in, and that's when the problem came back.I don't know why it went away previously.So, in summary: The issue only occurs when the computer is plugged in.The sleep problem existed before I installed 3rd party RAM and Parallels 7, and they exist now after I have installed the RAM and new software.I use a wireless mouse, and the little dongle has no effect on the sleep issue - the computer will not sleep (when plugged in) either with or without the dongle in a USB port.The battery charges just fine.All of my software is up-to-date, and I'm running OS X 10.7.3I have checked for the Flashfake malware, and I do not have it.I am running Sophos Anti-virus; I have done a scan, and have found no threats.They flashed my PRAM and ran some tests at the Apple Store and everything passed.

iMac will not shut down when I use the "Shut Down" feature. My cursor just keeps spinning in the centre of the screen. I realize I can just power off with the button on the back of the screen but I don't think that is the best way to go about it.

Tried to start our iMac get the normal chime, then the gray screen with the gray apple......but then I get a narrow progress bar on the bottom of the screen. The progress bar in the screen gets about 1/8 filled and then it disappears and then I get a second bar ant it also gets about 1/8 filled and then the computer shuts off. I did try to do a reset of the pram ( only thing I could think of) ...did not work. Fortunately, I have Time Machine..

My system has randomly shut down twice now in the last two days. Dual G5 2.3. I checked the console log, which I know very little about, and it said this:

Two questions-
what's the -122 code mean?
Do you think resetting the PMU would be the solution to this?

I recently noticed that when I shutdown/restart my MBP, i get stuck in a gray screen with spining wheel. I can't remember if and what i instaled, but I know that this problem happens when I open up ITunes and keep showing up even when I close/force quit manually ITunes.

My imac intel has recently started to play up. Everytime I try to shutdown it gets stuck at teh blue screen with a spinning circle.

latest apps that i have, but not running, is parallels. I also used Boot camp to partion my hard disk but did not install the os. so have a partion with nothing on it.
My iMac doesn't turn off in the normal way any more. The system shuts down and the screen becomes black, but the fan keeps on running. And it deosn't stop! The only way to completely shut down everything is to hold the powerbutton.
I already have reinstalled Lion, but the problem is still prensent. I've got this iMac for around 6 months now, but this problem occured around 2 weeks ago. Before everything has been all right.

Anyone know of an app to auto shut down your mac after it's done running a an iTunes playlist or letting another app run it's course? The Energy saver shut down schedule option is too rigid for me. Basically, I like to listen to a some music as I go to sleep and would love for my mac to shut itself down after it's finished with the playlist. If there isn't a program would anyone know of an applescript that would do that?

When I had just installed the Intel X25M (80 gb G2) shutdowns took merely 2 seconds. Now, after the dock minimizes adn hte icons disappear, the computer just hangs for 10-15 seconds, turns into a blue screen and hangs for maybe 10 seconds more before actually shutting down (black screen, everything off).
Does anyone know what is wrong? The drive is only 2-3 months old, and I still have 40 Gb free.
I was thinking it is some program that is running in the background that is having trouble quitting.
How does this work? If I have more than one user logged in, the power goes out and the computer decides (based on the settings I have selected for UPS) to shut down, will it be able to complete the shutdown? When I do it manually I have to log out the other users.

I have a 2011 iMac which i've loved using. I bought a Seagate goflex external harddrive so I could start using time machine. I've noticed that whenver I power my iMac down it will sit on the grey screen just before shutting off for a long time. In fact, it will not actually shut down until i unplug my external hard drive. As soon as I unplug my harddrive the mac starts thinking again and shuts down within seconds. Why it would do this. I now hard plug my harddrive in because of this, which is kinda of dumb since I bought it to work as a time machine.

Usually when I shut down the system using the software "shut down" command, the system shuts down. Lately, I have had to use the shut down button which resuts in an improper shut down when I restart the computer. So, there is a software glitch. Is there anyway to correct this?

My iMac is the latest model, however when I try to shut it down I get a grey screen with the apple loading spiral and it doesn't shutdown. I have version 10.7.4 OSX Lion, all updates have been downloaded. I have resorted to leaving it on. I do not want to hard shutdown because this could damage the system, my old iMac broke after the hard drive was damaged with the same style of issue.
