View 3 RepliesI recently upgraded my system HDD to an SSD with a new install of OSX 10.6.4 and mimicked the settings I had on my previous set up to replicate it. however, when for example I was using iTunes to play music the screen saver would come on and a short time later the system would pause iTunes and goes into Sleep mode.
my previous install never did that so I'm not sure if its because of the SSD and it not being mechanical it doesnt recognize it accessing or seeking 'per se' because regardless of unchecking "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" it still does it. here is an image of energy saver settings; btw I had the system plugged into and still went into sleep mode when iTunes was playing and even other media formats such as Video in iTunes or VLC.
I bought some video and audio from itunes and would like to put them to my portable player, but I am failure, whether they have protection or format require?---- how can I convert or transfer those files?

My system has randomly shut down twice now in the last two days. Dual G5 2.3. I checked the console log, which I know very little about, and it said this:
localhost kernel[0]: ApplePMU::PMU forced shutdown, cause = -122
Two questions-
what's the -122 code mean?
Do you think resetting the PMU would be the solution to this?
Everytime when I have started iTunes and then want to shutdown the MacBook Pro it got stuck on the grey screen with the spinning wheel.

I recently noticed that when I shutdown/restart my MBP, i get stuck in a gray screen with spining wheel. I can't remember if and what i instaled, but I know that this problem happens when I open up ITunes and keep showing up even when I close/force quit manually ITunes.

Anyone know of an app to auto shut down your mac after it's done running a an iTunes playlist or letting another app run it's course? The Energy saver shut down schedule option is too rigid for me. Basically, I like to listen to a some music as I go to sleep and would love for my mac to shut itself down after it's finished with the playlist. If there isn't a program would anyone know of an applescript that would do that?

I did a back up recently to an external hard drive from my macbook, , however when l went back to my music on my mac and clicked on itunes to play a song, l got the following message.. The song could not be used because the orignal file could not be found. I have 7000 songs and can't play any of them.. Any idea as to what l did wrong or can anyone help in anyway. I'm new to mac, itunes and iphone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the past few days I have downloaded some movies through iTunes, some through iTunes purchases and some by entering the digital copy codes that came with DVDs/Blu-rays. When I try to sync these items with my iPad, I get a message that they cannot be synced. When I try to create an iPad version through the advanced menu, I get a message that they cannot be found. When I try to watch them on my MacBook using iTunes, I get a message that the movie requires QuickTime, which is not compatible with this version of iTunes.
How can I get these items to play and sync? They work if I open iTunes in 32-bit mode, but this is an annoying workaround. Plus, the iTunes support article says this is only necessary for "older media files" -- these are not old media; I just downloaded them. What is Apple doing selling files that are incompatible with its current version of iTunes? If I had known I had to go through such trouble to get them to play, I probably would not have bought them in the first place.

I started noticing a few months ago that CDs I have been importing no longer display "256 (VBR)" anymore even though I have my import settings set to iTunes Plus. I tried using a custom setting that is exactly the same thing I went through custom->stereo bit rate of 256->and checked the box for VBR. The same thing happens with both. Initially "256 (VBR)" is displayed in the Bit Rate View; however, after I play the track or if I edit any of the tags it immediately switches it to 256 and no more (VBR) listed after it. Is anyone else having this issue? I thought with the last few iTunes updates that maybe this would resolve but it hasn't.

iTunes has been crashing for months when playing CDs (but it's fine for DVDs and the audio files on iTunes). ppc G5 iMac, 10.5.8. Twice on inserting a CD, again when the CD concludes, and often during playing, or when I try to adjust volume. It did this with a LaCie external drive and now that I've installed a new replacement Toshiba internal superdrive it still does exactly the same thing. After reading about the many bugs with v9.0.1 I obtained v8.0.2, deleted everything to do with iTunes and reinstalled the older version. However, the crashes continue unabated. Have run Disk Warrior, Tech Tools Pro5, reset the hardware pulling the AC plug etc., run Permissions over and over, thrown out prefs files, etc.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had a long struggle with iTunes and SuperDrives. Ppc iMac 5G, 10.5.8. Internal drive died; I purchased a La Cie ext. drive, couldn't get it to work even after 2 trips back to their repair, bought a replacement Toshiba internal drive from OWC and installed myself after much struggle. Now it is working, but the iTunes problems remains exactly the same and neither AppleCare nor the Apple iTunes Forum has been any help.
DVDs play fine and so do files in my iTunes.
1. I insert a CD. It takes forever to try to look up GraceNote.
2. Then it displays that it crashed and to Relaunch. I click it.
3. Then it displays it crashed again and to Reset and Relaunch. I click it.
4. Finally the disc comes up in iTunes and can be played.
5. After the CD concludes, it crashes again.
I woke up this morning and used my apple remote to wake my MacBook, then hit play again to start iTunes playing. Nothing happened.
I verified that the sound was turned up, to maximum. And on closer inspection found that iTunes had started to play a song, but was making no progress in actually playing that song - the progress bar was stuck at 0:00 and skipping songs or scrubbing within a song makes no difference.
Restarting the application made no difference.
All of my music is 128kbps m4a and I also attempted to play m4v files, with a similar lack of success.
I am running iTunes 10.0 on OSX 10.6.4, and I have modified the .plist to restore the coloured icons, as well as using the terminal hack to restore the traffic lights to the correct orientation.
I would like to play sound from by iBook (from iTunes) through my parents' TV (through the DVD player hooked up to it, which has the red, white and yellow RCA outlets).
I have read that you can use a 3.5mm jack to 3 RCA cable to watch video, but will the same work for just audio?
Or
Do I just plug a 3.5mm jack to 2 RCA cable (red and white) into the the red and white outlets?
So confused and grateful for any help.
I would prefer to avoid using Apple accessories if prrible just to avoid the cost.
I am on a 2008 Mac Pro. My computer was on and after being in another room for about 5 minutes, I start hearing my music playing on the Mac. My iTunes wasn't even on, how is this possible??? No one here but me, so it's not like the keyboard was pressed or anything the music just started playing. It was a random song too, in the middle of one of my albums. First: has anyone ever heard of such a weird thing? Second: is this of concern security wise? Is someone hacked into my machine?

Some songs which I recorded from cds and downloaded at 256 from iTunes Match are not playing all the way through.Â
I've tried deleting and redowning but the problem is still the same. I have checked the Get Info / Options - stop times and they are Ok.Â
In most cases I still have the original CDs but I'd like to know if there is a cure or whether I have done something wrong.

Setup : Itunes 9.0.2 on a Macbook 5,2 running OSX.5.8. Audio Files on NAS (brought there using "consolidate library" in itunes), libraries still on main drive. I created a NAS account with the same ID as my admin one, and connect to it with a script executed on startup. I can do exactly the same things as when audio files were on my drive. The only problem is lag, when I play next track, edit metadata,...I checked wifi, ethernet, different cables,... didn't change a thing. Moreover, I can browse through all my tracks with VLC without lag. Last evening I ran idefrag for a totally different purpose and found 'itunes music library.xml" was fragmented (≈20 MB in 7 parts), "Itunes Library" too.
Here's the thing :When I defragment these two files at startup, and then launch iTunes, the lag issue disappears. When I quit iTunes, the library files are saved but written in parts again, and the lag comes back. Finally, if I defragment the files between a quit and a start, they must be edited again because they're split up again and the lag is still there.Since I didn't add new songs, itunes must be saving stuff like playing counts, which is useless to me. Make the library read-only?Â

If I download them to my MacBook then access them through the shared media, they will play and become part of the library on the iMac. Seems like a lot of bother just to watch a video. Â
Anyone have a clue about what's going on?

I have a lot of 1080p videos on my Mac, and I can play them in every app but iTunes. iTunes says i cannot play the videos as I have a 1.86GHz CPU, which does not meet the requirements for playing 1080p HD videos in iTunes [URL]. The thing is is that I can play these videos in any other app (they are not protected files, as they are BluRay rips from my external BluRay drive). Â
My question is this: how can I get these videos to play on my Mac, and on my iPod touch as well?
