View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever - or at least 90% of the time - I try to shutdown my MacBook Pro, I get the message "Application Mail canceled shutdown" and so it is, my Laptop won't shut down. Whats wrong with that? (I searched the forum and found this thread http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/swi...down-imac.html , but it actually only explains how to shut OSX down but not how to avoid the problem) I read on the net that several people had this problem with a prog called "uTorrent", and the solution found on the net was to update your OSX to 10.5.x or later. I'm on 10.0.3 so?
View 8 Replies View RelatedEvery time I want to shut down my late 2011 MacBook Pro, Mac Mail cancels the shut down & I have to force quit mail. I was having this problem on my old 2008 MacBook before I upgraded to the Pro (but it only started after I upgraded to Lion OSX). So what's wrong w/ Mac Mail? And is there some setting I can change? This is an annoying time suck.

i was clearing my Bulk E-Mail. marked one as JUNK and then deleted it. Now I cannot close or open the Mail Box. Also, I cannot shut down the computer as there is a warning that the Mail Will Not Allow Shut Down.

I just got my new MBP and am loving it, but I need to move my windows contacts from my pc to my mbp. They are in the .contact file type, located in the contacts folder under my username in vista. Does address book support this file type? If not, is there any other way to move them over?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to delete all of the "sub-contacts" I have for someone, so that when I start typing in their name in the "to" field, only one name comes up, as opposed to all of this persons different emails.
We have switched from one email to another at my work, and the address that initially pops up is the old one. I tried deleting the contact from address book, but it did not change anything.
I decided it'd be nice to have my computer sync contacts with my iPhone over the air, so I decided to use Google's exchange sync with both. Once in a while it'll hiccup and duplicate entries or change someone's name, but it's worked well for the most part.
There is one thing that has been really bugging me though... I set up my parents contacts so their first name was either 'Mom' or 'Dad'. For some reason, my mom's last name changed to reflect her actual last name. I'm not sure what caused this, but I've managed to fix the name across the board. Despite this, when I compose a new message and type in "mom," the first address it autofills is Mom James (with her last name). My address book doesn't show this contact name anymore, neither does Google or my iPhone.
How can I back up Mail contacts on MacBook Pro? (My iCloud account only shows iPhone contacts).

I am trying to foward an email to a group in my contact list, but now I have to add them by clicking the + one by one, or opening the contact app and selecting all and dragging them to the "to" part of the mail!
The downgrade in this doesn't make any sense!!

When I send an email Mail autocompletes the address for me giving available options. The options that it gives me are for people in my address book and people that I have sent emails to which are not in my address book. Where does it store the latter? I would like to remove the ones that arent in the address book?

I am a relatively new (reintroduced user to Apple), since my Apple IIe back in the early 90's. I love my desktop mac thus far and I utilize my Apple Mail for the majority of my work day. We use the address book to store all our business contacts and someone asked how to share an address book contact via email within an already drafted email. I could not figure out how to do this without going into the address book, clicking 'share', then copying the contact card in the new email draft it opened and pasting it into the already composed message. Is there a more streamlined way to do this?

My new workplace is a Mac office and uses Mail 4.5 for email. (I'm using a MacBook Pro w/OS 10.6.8). I'm used to being able to assign colors/labels to certain senders in Gmail or Outlook, but I don't see how to do it in Mail.
