Normally when I put a DVD or cd in my DVD player it starts automatically but sins this week it doesn’t work anymore.Â
When I put a DVD in the player I hear the DVD spinning but after a while it stops and nothing further happens.Â
When I starts up DVD player and try to play the DVD an message appears that no supported disc available is.Â
I've had QT with Flip4Mac, Perian, Flash payer installed (as well as the older version of QT 7 where I can do easy edits), and it seems that when I click to open a wmv file as I have a million times in the past, QT says that the operation cannot be completed and the movie doesn't play.Â
What has caused this to happen? It seems like it stared right after I updated my Flip4Mac...now using 2.4.4.2. how to get my wmv files to play again? I'd certainly appreciate any pointers.

My Macbook pro will not play CDs/DVDs at all anymore. Every time I insert a CD or DVD it will accept it but then it will make odd noises and eject the CD/DVD. Is there anything I can do at home to try to solve it before I run to the apple store?

I resurrected this Mac recently and I know it's old etc but Apple did keynote videos back when this machine was released didn't they? So what's changed, surely this iMac should play simple web based video like that. It just stutters and stops ,stutters vid gets blocky then I get the beachball. Some video will play fine, some wont, especially on YT etc but on Apples own site. Btw it is a 500MHz graphite G3 with 1Gb RAM, with recent fresh install of Tiger and fully upto date.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know what happened, but somewhere along the line Safari simply stopped playing video for me. What's weird is that Youtube does work, yet none of the videos at, say, Gamespot.com work. I can't play Apple's brand-new iPad ad either, located here:

Of note is that I do have ClickToFlash as well as BashFlash installed, but that never was a problem before. The videos that do not work in Safari all work, without exception, in Chrome Beta, Firefox and Opera.
Today I discovered that QTX does not play divx files anymore on my macbook even though I have perian installed. Whenever I try to play a divx file, a pop up appears saying I need to install QT7
What I already tried is:repair permissions;uninstall and reinstall perian;create another user-->same issue;get rid of QTX caches and preferences;restart the machine

I'm using 10.7.3. iTunes 10.6. MacBook Pro 2.6Ghz 4GB ram. ITunes won't play my video anymore and it's been a while I'm not sure when it occurred if it's after an update to snow leopard or iTunes updates. When I double click a video I get "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes."? And cannot convert the option doesn't work I get this other message when trying to convert a version for APPLE TV in advanced menu "None of the selected files were converted because they could not be found."?
But the movies are quicktime movies in my library and the MPEG-4 plays in iTunes but not on APPLE TV. From all my videos I get one only going through APPLE TV and when I try opening it it says error occured why opening and never works? It seems APPLE is regularly messing things up in updates to loose people so they have to pay for tech support, I didn't upgrade to iPhoto 11 and cannot import anything anymore into it so my entire library is a dead one; not a cool way to do business than messing people software so they have to buy newer versions!

My MacBook Pro plays DVDs with movies on, but no CDs with music, or DVDs with software on them. It just makes a noise for about 30 seconds, then spits them out. What do I do? I reinstalled Flash Player multiple times. I updated everything there is to update. Still can't watch videos. This happened overnight from March 30 to April 1.

I can't view pdf files from my iMac anymore. I tried it with 3 different browsers-Safari, Frefox, and Camino and it made no difference except that with Safari I got a black webpage and with the others just a blank page. I uninstalled Adobe Reader and reinstalled it it but that didn't help. I've enable cookies on all the browsers.

My Imac (mid 2007 snow leopard) doenst connect to wifi any more. it used to work but is seems broken. (nothing changed at the network)Â It doens recognize networks but when ik try to connect it times out.

I have an iMac (Intel mid 2011) 21.5", Facebook used to work OK. After updating Safari to Ver. 5.1.7. (6534.57.2), Facebook is not displaying correctly, I get a white unformated screen and a partial display of the information shows on the left side of screen (10%). I'm using OSX Ver. 10.6.8.. Suddenly about 5days ago, Safari suddenly stopped loading my homepage, uk.yahoo.com - which has been my Homepage for years. I thought it was perhaps a Yahoo problem, but apparently not, as Safari loads any other page from my favorites etc without any hitch, meaning its clearly not an ISP problem either. I did find a thread that suggested un-ticking the 'Restore Windows' box in the General section in System Preferences, (not Safari Preferences), but I cant see a General tab in System Preferences? Additionally, I have deleted Safari, and reinstalled it, but problem still exists. I'm running OS X 10.5.8 and Safari version 5.0.6.

My 2006(ish) Intel core 2duo 2.16 mhz 20" imac wont start up, it only stays at the loading screen, how can I fix this? I have tried:
• safe mode reboot
• restart using p, r , command and option (resetting the pram)
• restart using the original Mac OS 10.4 disc
• restart so I get the image of the HD but I can't click on it to continue and restart again!    • single user mode (CMD+s keys at bootup, and then /sbin/fsck -fy)Â
It just doesn't do anything else than display the grey screen, the apple and the spinning wheel (sometime, I do get a scrolling bar also!). I managed to perform a hardware test from the Mac OS disc and there seems to be no hardware problem. Nothing works.It stays stuck on the grey screen, with the apple and the wheel turning endlessly.Â
