I have iPhoto from that iLive '11 series. It fails to open. I can't find the folders for originals and modified files on my hard drive. I am so scared that I've lost them! TimeMachine isn't helping restore the application. I have the Lion OS.

I reinstalled my applications from a disk, and have lost iphoto completely. Where I can find it and my library - they still seem to be taking up hard disk space, so I am assuming its a matter of locating them. But they're not in the Applications folder. (I do have back up but not the last two months...which I'd like to get back).

Am I alone in having difficulties with this application? I cannot seem to locate any file when I use it. I type in part of the file name and rarely find what I want. If I try to use some part of a document's text, it is just the same. I am also finding difficulties in compressing files but have put this on another thread to avoid confusion I am using Tiger 10.5.5

For some reason, most (not all) of the songs in my iTunes have an exclamation mark beside them that says "The song [song title] could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
1) I dropped my computer a week or so ago. At the time it seemed fine with the exception of a small clicking sound from inside the computer.
2) Somone told me that the clicking sound might be because of a harddrive failure (or from a problem with the fan or optical drive). SO I started using Google Drive to backup some of my files, so far however it's only backuped up some of my music (maybe this is why only some of my music works)
3) Whenever I restart my computer now, my trash can becomes full of "Recovered Files". I think I might have deleted these the first few times I saw them.Â
How to get IMovie to recognize that I changed the dates of movie clips that I had to import into IPhoto. Subsequently I deleted an event in IPhoto and the darn thing still appeared in IMovie so that option of just deleting and starting all over again seems not to work. (I did not go into trash and really delete it so IMovie might just follow the clips to Trash!) I happened to find that in the Iphoto Library is a file called IMovie Data (In Thumbnails file folder). If I delete that file, will it cause IMovie to regenerate the thumbnails and put all of my photos and clips in the data order I now have corrected in IPhoto?

I share the file via Apple Devices 1080p and i get that l title notification that says "Share successful" but the file doesn't show up at all! Normally, they pop up at the Home Videos folder deep inside the iTunes folder thingo. They're not anywhere on this mac. Â

had it all of two days now and am trying to understand the basics of IPhoto - which seems like a really cool program. My question is this: I store all my photos on an external server / hard drive accessible to multiple computers with our family. When I import them into IPhoto, am I actually copying them onto my Mac (thereby having two copies of my photos - one on the external HD and one on my Mac) or is it like Google's Picasa that just stores thumbnail info for organizing, etc? Also, I like to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to edit, play with the photos, and thus, when I save a changed copy of the photo to this external hard drive (while keeping the original), do I then need to import the copy over to IPhoto or does IPhoto have a scanning feature similair to Picasa that will scan the drive and pick up new additions?

I was in my third period class, which was gym and when i went to go look for my ipod since we had free choice of exercise, i didnt find my ipod but my headphones were in my bag, and my phone was there to. By a suprise where i left my ipod, they took out everything that was covering the ipod and just left my pink headphones. A few years ago in high school trip to europe i made an imovie hd project. i am on a new mbp and i have a backup of my old mbp and when i transfer the file macintosh hd->user->movies->europe movie project it doesnt seem to bring the video with it (i cant even locate it!) i opened with imovie and the old imovie hd and the same thing, no video file! any ideas as to where the video files are located? im freakin out here lol
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to figure out how iPhoto stores its photos. I've heard that it stores multiple copies of my pictures. I started wondering what was going on when, after importing all my pictures into iPhoto, I started to remove red eye from some pictures. I noticed that after removing the red eye and saving and closing iPhoto, if I opened it back up and looked at the photos that I removed the red eye from... not sure how to describe this, but basically the pictures opened up with 'blurry' eyes and then they focused in and were sharp and had no red eye. It wasn't like after I removed the red eye the picture was saved in that state, but rather the photo was marked as having red eye in an area and every time its opened the red eye is removed.
After some searching, I noticed it keeps a copy of the original and the edited version. However, I don't want to keep the original if I accept the edited. I don't know if it needs the original and it just marks the area of the original to remove the red eye each time it's opened. I'm curious if I was to email the picture if the recipient would see red eye or not. This post says I can delete the originals folder [URL] but if I examine my iphoto library, my originals folder has 1.3gb and the next biggest folder (modified) is 75mb so I think all the photos are stored in the originals and I don't want to delete them. Why does the red eye edit itself out each time rather than saving that way?
I bought a new Retina Macbook & have over 10 years of photos that I DO NOT want to bring into my new computer.

Finder no longer gives me the iPhoto option anymore. The PHOTOS Folder only shows photos that came in from a camera or other source.Â
Photo Stream can't do it as it's just a storage drive. My photos are set up to go from photo stream right into my Macbook so they have to be somewhere on my hard drive.Â

I have saved my dead laptop's HD as an external which has lots of iPhoto images/videos on it & only connects to an older laptop. I also have another laptop with more iPhoto images/videos... my problem is that I don't have a burner to get the images off these HD's nor do I know how to combine all the images on an external.Is it possible to (like in iTunes) assign an alternate device for storage of your iPhoto library. I did a hard reboot, and it wouldn't come back on.A week after I got it back, I started getting the "gray screen of deaf" with the spinning wheel. So I took it back in and they replaced the operating system (10.7.3).It worked fine for a few days, but for the last couple of weeks, I've had to do a hard reboot just about everyday due to my system freezing up.I've updated to OS X 10.7.4, which wasn't easy. Cllicking "update OS" didn't work...it always ended up telling me unable to update this operating sytem. I had to download the OS from this Apple site. It took about 20 hours to update (?!?) I can't afford to be without my system for too many days while in the shop at this time. Do I need to start looking into a new system.

My hard drive failed on my iMac (Intel), Apple Store replaced the hard drive, brought it home, hooked up the Time Machine, selected a backup date, restore. It showed the content loading for 4 hours. Once complete, the iMac still looks nothing like the old. Open the Macintosh HD and Info shows that the 230 GB transferred, but I can't find the folders anywhere. When actually opening the Macintosh HD, its only new folders and the new setup. Where do I find the restored content?

I thought I would share a cool realization. I am now eligible for any iPhone upgrades and most likely will be getting the new one coming out this summer - whatever it may be. I realized today that most likely it will have 64GB of storage - the exact same size as my Macbook Air - I think it is so wild my future phone/pocket computer will have the exact same storage capacity as my main laptop. I could potentially mirror everything on my Mac that is on my iPhone in the future.
