I can't seem to find out why my Mac is reporting such excessive storage use for "Photos". My iPhoto library says it's only about 1.47GB. Earlier today, I unchecked the option of importing photos from other locations to the iPhoto library, since we have an external hard drive that we use to store photos.
Why it's reporting such high usage? In the screenshot is OmniDiskSweeper, which shows sizes of each folder. They definitely aren't adding up to the 92GB that it says is in use, unless all that extra data is coming from some folder I don't have permission to.

My computer has 500 GB of capacity, but I have seen that every time I open a file or boot something the memory used rises a little. Is this normal? It is the first time that I have seen.

Why does Mac OX 10.6.8 keep making copies of a file anytime I download, copy, or move a file? It will copy, dowload or move the file, then begin making copies until I reboot. This makes it impossible to deal wit hfiles unless I want to spend a lot of time rebooting after every time, then deleting all the redundant copies.

I have a recuuring problem with my Macbook. I have taken it into the mac store on countless occasion because of faulty Disc drives/optical drives. I am trying to burn a disc of photos and have done all the correct steps but this message continually appears. First off, I've learned a lot by reading threads in this message board. Thank you to all the helpers out there!I just bought The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 1TB. What I hope to do with it is a) Back-up files on my MB using Time Machine, and b) Back-up files I have on a 250GB Lacie portable HD full of photos/videos/music.I am requesting advice on how to back-up a back-up (ie. backup my Lacie onto my Seagate). Is there a popular freeware program that I should use to do that? I suppose I could just copy and paste the photos/videos/music, but I'm sure there's a free program that does syncs, which would be way more efficient.

I "select" the photos in the Album and then click on PhotoStream in the "Share" menu at the bottom of the screen. Nothing happens. I have also tried emailing them tyo myself but iPhoto won't send the email. It tells me it doesn't recognize my ID and password. My operating is Lion on an iMac.

I thought I would share a cool realization. I am now eligible for any iPhone upgrades and most likely will be getting the new one coming out this summer - whatever it may be. I realized today that most likely it will have 64GB of storage - the exact same size as my Macbook Air - I think it is so wild my future phone/pocket computer will have the exact same storage capacity as my main laptop. I could potentially mirror everything on my Mac that is on my iPhone in the future.

I just recently purchased a Macbook from Apple. How would I transfer the photos from my old Mac Tower to the new Macbook? Is there a library file that I need to look for? My Macbook has iPhoto 11' and my Mac Tower has version 06'.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do a home photo editing business. One of a my clients sent me a disc that she zipped to compress because there were a lot of pictures on it. When I try to open it on my Mac Book Pro I keep getting an error message that it cannot find alias and what program do I want to use to open it. It also gives me an option to "fix alias" but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I open zip files on my Mac Book Pro? I should probably mention that the client also uses a Mac Book Pro and her pictures were in her iPhoto before she zipped them on a disc.

So I have a ton of music on my computer. Multiples of songs etc. I've deleted a lot of songs off itunes but still have other copies of them on my computer. I once tried to delete the files but then when I played them on itunes they wouldnt work. So I'm curious, how can I make a copy/file of all the songs on my itunes as backup and delete everything else. And do it safety.
I dont wanna have to do everything one by one.

new user...how do you drag or move or copy a file or folder from the desktop to an external drive? I have tried dragging and copy/pasting.

I'm in the midst of backing up an external drive (to another external drive) via Firewire 800, which works fine, but for some strange reason one specific file won't be copied. It's an iDVD file with a filesize of 12.98 GB. All other files have been copied without any problems.
When copying over to the backup drive all seems fine for a while, then (after having copied 4.01 GB) I hear some "clunking" sounds from the source drive followed by the error message shown below. I've tried copying the said file several times and to different backup drives, and in all instances the file copying stops at 4.01 GB.
I've checked both drives with Disk utility and they check out fine. And the iDVD file opens fine in iDVD.
Could it be that MacOSX needs some free "work space" on one or several of the drives in question, which isn't available?
Cureently, the source drive has only 10.63 GB free space, the destination drive has 582 GB available and the computer's (1.67GHz Powerbook G4) internal 80 GB drive has 23 GB free space.
I'm having an issue copying from one external to another (I just recently got 1TB for x-mas). Both of the drives are western digitals, so they're very good. The problem I'm having is every time it gets to my iTunes music, I get this error:
You can't copy some of these items because their names are the same as other items on the destination volume, and that volume doesn't distinguish between upper - and lowercase letters in filenames.
I want to rip my old svcd and vcds onto my harddrive, my mac however cannot copy the .mpg files and I wanted to use VCD Copy to rip them. The program works but says it's finished after just one second and the created file has no content.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have an entire file of photos where when you open the file they have all been turned 90* clockwise.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems viewing all landscape photos from the last 2 years that I have uploaded. I can view them as thumbnails on iPhoto 6 but as soon as I try full screen view, a grey box appears with an exclamation mark. I also can't upload them using the facebook app.
I went to my originals file to try and sort this out, and start a whole new library. However, I only have photos from 2006 and 2007 in there, so all my photos that I have uploaded are obviously not being automatically saved into the originals folder!!! This is a problem and I don't know why it's happened.
I have looked in the iPhoto library folder and next to the Originals folder is a "Modified" folder. I haven't amended photos, changed descriptions or done anything to modify them, either as a file format or in the iPhoto application. So I don't understand why my photos are saving to the modified folder. Worse still, when I opened up the Modified folder, all my portrait photos that I have uploaded since 2007 are in there, but none of my landscape ones are in there. So I can't get hold of them at all.
why I am getting this error code in transfering over a file. I am using a Mac mini 10.5.7 os.
