I have a MBP 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 and have tryed to connect a Lacie Thunderbolt eSATA Hub to the Thunderbolt port. Â
1 Will it work with the Thunderbolt Display port?Â
2/ Why won't it see and Thunderbolt devices in the Systems Report?Â

I found an adapter the Atlona AT-HD620. They say IT WILL work with thunderbolt iMac but not thunderbolt display. I don't know if it would work as I tried the Belkin av360 and it didn't work.

I made a bit of a stuff up and bought the wrong drive for a friends iMac.I incorrectly took his specification down as being a 2011 iMac when it was actually a 2010. This meant I specified a thunderbolt drive (Promise Pegasys R4) thinking the iMac has thunderbolt. I was wrong!! It only has mini display and Firewire 800.I see some thunder bolt to firewire docks are due out soon but is there a product that will allow me to add a thunderbolt interface to the iMac?Something along the lines of a PCI type card or a Firewire 800 to thunderbolt adapter?Â

Just bought the new Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt Adapter and the Apple Thunderbolt cable. Upon connecting I get this console log:Â
30.04.12 17:18:00,000 kernel: IOThunderboltSwitch(0x0)::listenerCallbackStatic - Thunderbolt HPD packet for route = 0x0 port = 1 unplug = 0
30.04.12 17:18:02,000 kernel: [ PCI configuration begin ]
30.04.12 17:18:02,000 kernel: PCI configuration changed (bridge=25 device=5 cardbus=0)
30.04.12 17:18:02,000 kernel: [ PCI configuration end, bridges 14 devices 18 ]Â
But the drive isn't showing up in finder AND disc utility. If I unplug the SATA connection between drive and adpter and plug it back in, the drive shows up.Â
Problem is: This way i cant't use it as startup volume, as the drive isn't mounted during startup.Â
Problem 2: Booting with the cable connected (internal startup volume this time) isn't possible either, as the wireless keyboard and trackpad aren't working after startup. I can see my desktop but mouse pointer and keyboard aren't working. After power off and unplugging everything boots up normally.Â

After installing a bunch of updates; inluding iPhoto, iTunes and iMovie; the culprit seems to be the Thunderbolt thing. After the installation a message came up that none of the updates could be installed. There's only a Restart-Button — that doesn't restart the iMac. The screen has its grey login background and the Mac is stalled. About 10 minutes later I turned off the iMac and then turned it back on again. What lead to an instant Kernel Panic. I then reinstalled Lion from the Recovery HD, installed all the updates; which included two restarts that performed fine. In the final session there are the iPhoto and iMovie updates — and the Thunderbolt thing. Downloading and installing seems to work fine; but then I get the above mentioned message AGAIN.

I purchased one of these (model MC511LL/A) on Ebay. It has not yet arrived. The seller posted a canned Ebay description of the model touting the 2 Thunderbolt ports, yet Apple's official specs page does not show this model as yet having Thunderbolt, which does not show up in the iMacs until the 2011 models. Is it possible that some of the mid-2010 models shipped with Thunderbolt ports?

I've bought new Thunderbold 27' display and connected it as a second screen to my iMac. Video works fine but I've just discovered that all ports of that display are not functioning, i.e. USB ports are not working, and I can't see its camera and speakers from my iMac. Is it possible somehow to get it working? Especially USB would be very wonderful.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new 3.4 GHz Thunderbolt iMac and can't get Thunderbolt Target Display Mode to work with my current-model 13" MacBook Air or the current model 15" MacBook Pro furnished to me by my employer. Cmd-F2 just creates a beeping sound. I tried three different Thunderbolt cables. (They are not Mini DisplayPort cables. I have one of those from a previous model of iMac and it both looks different from the Thunderbolt cables and System Information doesn't show any change when I try to patch the computers together using it.)
All machines are fully updated to MacOS X 10.7.4 with all firmware updates applied. System Information shows that all are equipped with Thunderbolt interfaces; the Console app shows the kernel message indicating when the Thunderbolt devices are plugged in and removed; all three machines work in Thunderbolt Target Disk mode in both directions with all three cables with both Thunderbolt interfaces on the iMac.
I'm trying to find a Thunderbolt Dock for External Hard Drive. Â One of these http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/External-SATA-Hard-Drive-Docking-Station-USB- Interface-937p3180.htmÂ
But with Thunderbolt connector instead of USB, Firewire, eSATA etc. Â
Do these exist? Â The only thing I could find close is the Seagate Go Flexi Adapter, but that only works for those drives. Â

Brought a new 4TB thunderbolt G-Drive. And, my iMac doesn't see it and the hard drive doesn't even power up. Tested at Apple before I brought it home.
I have a new MBP. I was trying to transfer stuff from my iMac to the new MBP using a thunderbolt cable and pressing down the 'T' key while restarting my iMac.
Long story short, there was not enough room on my MBP so I just continued on without transferring anything. Disconnected the thunderbolt and my iMac is still on a white screen with a floating thunderbolt. How do I proceed?

How do I connect a newer 2011 27" iMac to a flat panel via a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable? I've already tried this with two different brands of flat panels (RCA and Samsung) and both get no signal. The iMac does recognize the model of flat panel connected to it, the flat panels do not recognize the iMac, nothing but a blue or black screen. Already tried powering down and resetting both the iMac and flatpanels, resetting the memory on the iMac, trying all the HDMI ports on both flatpanels. Nothing works.

I have a new iMac purchased in Q1 2014 and connect my G-Grive to it via an Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter. My iMac runs 24x7 and this FireWire 800 hard drive connection drops out on a regular basis - I'd say maybe once every week or so leading to a dismounted drive and an unavailable iTunes library. I have a slightly newer USB3 G-Drive which is connected by the USB socket next to the TB socket on my iMac. This one doesn't drop out/dismount. I cannot tell if it is a software issue or a physical (cable movement issue), the plug has never been out and I can't deliberately disconnect it at will by wobbling the cable/plug.
So, evidence and experimentation suggests the physical connection is not the issue. This problem has only come about after switching from a physical FW800 connection (my old iMac) to working via a TB adaptor (my new iMac). I'd rather not replace with more USB3 G-Drives (lack of free ports) and I'm not sure if I want to invest in a TB drive if the connections cannot be relied upon. I've seen lots of complaints of TB-FW800 connections dropping on MacBooks but did not see a specific solution. .

With my 'old' Intel iMac using a Display Port adapter, my 24" LG Monitor would be detected correctly and worked first time. With my new 2011 iMac 27 using a genuine Apple mini DisplayPort adapter plugged into the Thunderbolt port, this same monitor now shows up as a generic VGA monitor and the range of resolutions is severely reduced - basically it looks terrible. I've tried disconnecting the cable, reconnecting, using the second Thunderbolt, changing resolutions, detecting displays, showing displays in the menu bar. All with no success.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy 2008 iMac started running very slowly yesterday, taking ages to start up and showing the spinning wheel on the desktop for ages making it impossible to do anything. It particularly doesn't like running iTunes or Spotify and got worse when I plugged my iPod in. Another thing I can think of is I downloaded an album from iTunes yesterday and this seemed to coincide with it having a breakdown. Chrome is also running slow and I get frequent unresponsive script messages.
I'm running OS X 10.5.8 and have upgraded to iTunes 10.6.1. I recently installed the Flashback removal software.
