Intel Mac :: How To Uninstall A Program
Apr 14, 2012How do I uninstall a program off of my iMac? I am very new to the Apple world so there is still a sharp learning curve. This is a program that I recently added, have used as needed, and would like to unload from the computer. In Windows, I would simply go to Control Panel, go to Install/Uninstall, select the program of interest, and uninstall it. Is there a similar process here?

May 6, 2012I decided not to keep the Trend Micro Smart Surfing program after my subsription expired. Well I deleted by dragging it into the trash can. It's been over two months and every time I start my iMac it pops up on my menu bar and tells me about my expiration of service.I emptied my trash can, but no luck. I have tried reinstalling the program thinking there may be some uninstaller program I needed to use, but it tells me I have to delete the current version first. I have searched in spotlight and in finder, but no trend micro or smart surfing shows up. I don't know what to do anymore, but it is a pain to have to deal with that program after I deleted it.

Jul 4, 2012My 5 y.o. aluminum iMac recently went kaput on me. Problems it has:Â
-Freezes on any program after startup
-Freezes during safe boot mode; grey line won't progress past first 10% or so
-DVD stuck in optical drive and nothing works to get it out, so I can't boot from my install disk
-fsck -fy doesn't complete, and keeps timing out
-Migration Assistant either stalls the receiving computer, or just gives me "network" errors (even though I'm connected to the internet), or other errors.Â
I can't run terminal, disk utility, or any other kind of programs.How do I rescue my files from my failing iMac??

Mar 29, 2012Is it possible to change the default behaviour of wiki calendars to be hidden instead of visible. I have a wiki with a calendar with quite may calendars in it. The problem is that it gets very clotted when all event in all of them are shown. You can untick the box next to the calendar to hide it, but the problem is that this does not stay after a refresh or logout when viewing via a webbrowser. If I use the iCal client, a hidden calendar stays hidden (in iCal, not on web)
What I would like to do is change so "hidden" or "unchecked" is the default on the server.Â
On a client using iCal the setting for Checked or Unchecked is stored in :Â
user/Library/Calendars/C9BE5C0A-6EED-48D7-97F8-6DB02EA6A55A.calendar/Info.plist (your numbers will be different ) And the specific command in info.plist is:
<key>Checked</key>
<integer>1</integer>Â
As an alternative to change the default behaviour on the server for all calendars, changing this setting for each of the calendars would be possible if I only could find out how!?

Mar 27, 2012My iMac desktop will not stay on one program. In other words, I will open a program such as Safari or Pages, and after it loads, the program acts as though I have clicked on some other screen space. So I have to take my mouse and click on the program to begin typing but the process repeats. I think its about every 15 seconds I have to constantly use the mouse to click on the program so I can continue typing. I haven't downloaded anything recently and I have no idea how to fix this, sort of rebooting the whole system.
